My request was simple: CHUNKY balayage. CHUNKYYYY. I had pictures to show what I wanted. Mostly warm highlights with some cool sprinkled in. I also asked to add texture to my hair but keep the length (it was below my bra line). Nope... goodbye 6 inches I didn't ask to lose (now it's just below my shoulders). I had THICK voluminous hair, and now it's like I have the Rachel haircut. They foiled my hair to death and I ended up almost platinum blonde when the foils came out, and then to add insult to injury, you could clearly see the lines where the highlights began where it looks almost burnt at the edges?? We went back in for another TWO hours to make it warmer, but by that time my hair was fried, and now I have a bald spot I didn't have before. He offered to fix it in another few weeks after my hair has had time to settle, but I'm never letting anyone there touch my head again. I'm too nice of a person and still managed to crack a semi smile when it was finally done, but now I'm left with tears and silent screaming to hold back my utter horror at what they left me with. If you didn't get the memo: I don't recommend them. Even after everything, he still had the audacity to charge me $250 (discounted) and said I didn't need to leave a tip. Umm, thanks? God only knows how long this is going to take to fix... Should've gone to Fluff Bar. Thanh, you should've comp'd it and ask I not leave a bad review, which I totally would've said yes to not doing. Lesson learned? Was the juice really worth the squeeze? Looks like I'm not the only one who's had this happen to them? Ladies or gents: If you want balayage or any kind of coloring service, do NOT go here. This is NOT their specialty. Run. UPDATE: Went to a highly reviewed salon a few days after my visit with Vo where I had two pros look at my hair to assess the situation (and probability of me somehow getting what I originally wanted), and both agreed that what Vo did to my hair was "pretty bad" and unprofessional. All I heard, as they were slowly combing and lifting through my hair, were soft whispers and gasps of horror with the occasional, "Girl look at this... omg..." After hearing what they could do to fix the mess Vo left me with (weeks of painstaking piece meal work and god-knows-how-much-money) I ultimately decided to have them take me back to my original brown so I could start over from square one. THAT'S how bad it was. All that time and money just to go back to brown and have my hair be short and thin instead of long and thick. God I could scream. I appreciate you offering to fix the mess you left me with, Thanh, but no thanks. I would much rather you spend the time you would've taken on fixing my hair to spending it on some coloring courses instead. Just because you own a salon doesn't mean you've mastered the art of hair. The other guy whom you trained on the fly with me has a lot of learning to do also. I could tell he didn't know what he was doing and yet you still let him touch my hair while you juggled two other clients. Unacceptable service. On top of that, neither you or the other guy ever made small talk with me, which I've never experienced at a salon in all my life. Like, not a single word or question about my day or even my name. Even if you guys had done a great job, I still wouldn't have come back due to that alone. K I'm done. Lesson learned I hope. Best of luck to you.

I visited Tonto's salon for the first time, following my stylist, Johanna, comparing this salon to others based on my experience, was exceptional. The atmosphere was just fab! First of all you can feel the passion and positive energy between the stylists. The actual salon is very open, and the chairs are spaced appropriatly to where the clients are not on top of each other, feeling very private, yet in a sophisticated upscale salon. I hate the feeling when other clients/stylists are watching through mirrors. I heart the combo of stylish, upscale and humbling vibe this salon presents. Johanna has been my stylist for the past 3 years, since I moved here to Denver. She is an AMAZING stylist, very professional, and truly does have MAGICAL hands (they feel wonderful). She listens to what you would like, has an ablilty to make suggestions based on you and your lifestyle; what I love most, she is always teaching me or showing me new ideas or tips whenever I ask for advice or an how-to question. Great personal work here, they keep the establishment clean and organized . From Cindy with nails Devon(who is one of the many great styslist)? Devon on hair hair and brandy on skin and eyebrows. All 3 of these woman are great listeners Alicia and kayte are also quality hair stylist. If ya have a special occasion give them a call as they will make you loooik like a model if you are new to area oR just lookkin for a new place highly recommend.i personally havnt had a hair cut in two years and very particular with who touches let alone fits my hair i let Devon cut it all of. I love the look she helped me pick out and cut. Also she is great with kids,boys and girls. She did my daughter who is 3 noww her first cut brandy helped clean up my facial skin immensely I used to get a-Lot of ingrown hairs and but not anymore since she has helped me also used to have a really bad unibrow but she cleaned it up and defined them. I love this salon and my stylist, Katie Taber (kutsbykatie@yahoo.com). - I am nearly sixty, and I have been having my hair colored for about twenty years, and Katie is the very best, bar none! I live in South Carolina, and I fly over to Denver every two months just to get the outstanding color, cut, highlights and brow dye/shaping from Katie. She gets what I want to look like and makes it happen. Last August Katie also did the Global Keratin treatment on my naturally curly hair, and it takes the frizz out - I feel like a different woman with this silky smooth hairstyle. This salon is fantastic. Larry M must be a cranky person. I have no idea what he is talking about when he says Kristina is a bad hairstylist. He cannot write a good review without seeing another stylist. The lighting is perfectly fine as well. I guess Larry is used to having bright LED lights instead... HA! A "Great Cuts" cut is not one to describe the people coming out of the salon. I would coin the term, " A Tonto Cut". (Yes, Tonto means stupid or silly in Spanish... but that is not what I am getting at here.) Plus, you get what you pay for. A top quality cut or color. And Larry- They do accept credit cards. Phoebe is amazing!! Ok, so I'm not a "hair is everything" person, but Phoebe is really worth the praise. She has done cuts and colors for me and I've never been disappointed. She makes each visit fun and is the first hair stylist I've come across who is able to work within my comfort levels. She is also great at tailoring a style I'm interested to ME which I love! I love coming to Tonto. I have been coming here since it opened. To be close to Cherry Creek but not have to deal with the traffic or parking issue is the way to start for a relaxing experience. Holly has done my hair and my husband's hair for years. We would follow her anywhere. She does both my daughter's hair as well and we all love her. Tony and his wife Rebecca are so friendly and welcoming and the atmosphere they have created is sublime. We have also had appointments with Brandy, the aesthetician, and she is great as well. Shanna Vigil and Holly Adamek are my go-to peeps for color and styling. I have been their loyal customer for decades. I simply am in awe of these two and their talents. This salon is run in a very efficient and customer-friendly manner. Tony, the owner, is a master at creating a wonderful environment in which to spend some time. Tess and Pierce are the schedulers for my stylists. They are considerate, polite, and seem to be able to make sense out of how to schedule appointments for the months ahead. My final bill was around $700--roughly double what I had been told over the phone. After I contacted the owner about the discrepancy, I was refunded $150, but I still paid far more than I expected. Unfortunately, the service itself did not meet my expectations. To make matters worse, during my appointment, one of my expensive earrings went missing. Despite bringing this to the salon's attention immediately, I was not reimbursed for the lost earring, and the owner has since stopped responding to my calls and messages about the situation. The combination of being charged much more than quoted, receiving disappointing service, losing a valuable personal item, and then having difficulty getting a response afterward has been extremely frustrating. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this salon.
