I've been shopping at Tonys, in Larchmont, post rd, for over 60 years. Their staff have worked their for almost as long; very knowledgable, super friendly. The owner,msRodriquez, still works the register, They have a wide selection of vegetable seedlings, perennials, schrubs, bushes,etc. plus Hanging baskets. Roses, trees,Tools, pesticides, soil amendments,etc,etc and, their open 7 days/wk. can get a bit crowded on weekends. read more

Not far from the Trader Joe's and BLD. Just straight down the road. Stay straight add an extra 10 min and you will be at the New Rochelle Home Depot and Costco. I like this nursery. It serves its purpose. Large parking lot. I've purchase annuals, perennials, supplies and yes even rocks. You can get unusual annuals here. If I purchase I know the items will survive. Home Depot is cheaper sometimes but the stress of keeping things alive is too much sometimes. I also appreciate this nursery having a professional on hand to answer questions that I might have. The employees are helpful. They also have a good supply of Espoma products as well as other supplies that you might need. No need to order off Amazon because Lowe's and HD does not carry it. The mulch is more expensive than HD but it's better and not molded over. Also they do have specials on mulch and soil from time to time. I LOVE going to tony's, the staff is knowledgeable and friendly and they have an excellent selection of perennials at a reasonable price. I have come in with questions before about Lilac bush fertilization and care and even smaller questions about native plants-- they have all the answers. If you're polite and curious and want to learn about gardening this is the place for you! They get busy and have a small staff so be patient and know that they pay off is worth it. I have been here thrice in the last month and a half and today I was surprised by lack of courtesy to customers, it's like they want to get you in and out the door rapidly but they don't realize that gardening is an advise-based business where you need to be willing to provide guidance to sell. First time we went in explained our story; they sold us products: seeds and soil. Went back a couple of weeks ago to explain grass wasn't growing; they quickly got me out by saying you need to give it time. Today I go in with pictures of my land and they just wanted to get me out, they said I didn't have the proper soil (but I purchased 20+ bags of top soil from them) I had originally explained that I had mulch and they said to add the top soils on top of it, now they are saying I should have removed it. They have no patience to guide and tats bad business for this store! read more

I bought a shrub from and had it planted by Tony's Nursery that was in June it is now end of August all instruction were followed and the shrub is dying . I went to Tony's and was told by an employee "bro" its not our problem its between you and the employee that planted it. I do have to say a manger finally after being told its all l my fault that she will give me $75 credit . I have been buying plants at Tony's for over 30 years . I will never buy anything from this Nursery again not only because the plant is dying but the way this "bro" was treated as far as the $75 credit they can keep it they will need it if this the way they treat customers read more

Best selection of perennials, deciduous flowering shrubs, conifers and evergreen material in lower Westchester! The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful. Tonys also does propane gas exchanges, carries bulk and bag mulch, soil, compost. They have beautiful houseplants, great collection of succulents, vegetable plants, herbs and annuals in the greenhouse. One stop shopping and SO much better than the Depot or the despot next door. Both one Euonymus plant at Tony's and two at Home Depot. I planted all three myself. The two I bought at Home Deport are thriving. The one I bought at Tony's is dead after six months. Home Depot guarantees its plants for a year, whether they plant them or not. Tony's nothing. Tough luck. Will not go here again. Only went to Tony's because Home Deport was out of the same plant. Next time I will wait for Home Depot or go to another gardener. read more

Most times I write positive reviews but this experience deserves a bad review. My wife went to Tony's to purchase our holiday wreaths. She walked around for 15 minutes and walked by 5 employees and not one looked up and acknowledged her!! Or said Happy Holidays, The customer service indoors is horrible!! Bought several plants and terra-cotta pots today with a couple of my girlfriends--all of us plant people, so we knew exactly what we were looking for. Selection was decent, some plants in better shape than others. Aside from the one extremely informative, bubbly woman (who also was the only one to greet us when we walked in), no one said a word to us the whole time. There were three women by the registers, just sitting there having a conversation and staring at us. That didn't bother me much until we got to the register to try to pay for our plants. The woman was not friendly at all. She was dismissive, slightly flustered and kept ordering us to move our plants out of the way. Lady, don't act inconvenienced when you're ringing up $275 worth of plants that we could've purchased somewhere else. It felt like she was rushing us to leave. Felt extremely unwelcome. Though the three stars are a thank you to the woman that did help us, that was the only factor that stopped us from walking out on the cashier. read more

This is my favorite nursery in lower westchester. They have a great selection (which has improved a lot over the last three years,) the people are really nice and there prices are reasonable. I like them about 100 times better than the place next store called Larchmont Nursery! read more

My husband purchased a Peony plant in May for my birthday. It never bloomed, I called the nursery in June to ask why this happened. Some are early or late blooming plants I was told. I just called yesterday, October 20, 2021 and spoke to several staff, finally a deep discussion took place with Cassandra. The Covid virus was brought into the conversation, that there was a shortage of plants and maybe it was a young plant. She asked if it was a plant or Peony tree. I explained the receipt said Peony, nothing else. She then went on about soil, fertilizer, sun, everything under the sun. I was told it may bloom next year. This is the kind of advise I can get from a box store not a private nursery. They should stand behind the plants they sell because they are a high priced nursery. I also felt like I was bothering the staff, they had an I don't care attitude, not the customer is always right. I buy many plants from different places and have never had an experience like this. I have passed this story onto my family and friends and will never shop there again. read more

Wow, I agree with some of the other reviews and am sorry I ignored them. I will not be going back to Tony's. First of all, the quality of the plants is very poor, you see that the minute you walk in. Secondly, everyone there appears to hate their job. I ask where something is and the answer is "if we have it, its over there" and a vague finger point. I spoke to three people, none were friendly and none willing to help. I usually go to Sam's Bridge in Greenwich but they are not open on Sundays. Oh well, I am waiting for them, I wouldn't buy a thing at Tonys. read more

Terrible, rude customer service and inconsistent pricing/merchandise. I bought two large hanging flower baskets last week for $49 each. Went back today for a third. Same price, same color basket and sold as the larger of the two sizes, just like last week. Got it home and it's smaller than the other two. I called about getting one to match the two I bought last week and they pretty much hung up on me twice. Avoid this place. Expensive and terribly rude and unhelpful. read more

Thoroughly disappointed. I went in today to browse for some houseplants to refresh my home for the start of spring and after browsing the birch lumber outside and the half stocked selection I left, disappointed, only to notice that the woman at the register told the boy, Sean to follow me to my car and make sure I didn't take anything. Seriously, a white male in his 40s running errands is suspicious. I wonder how they treat people of color. And as I went to the car and pulled out, Sean was watching over me the whole time... there's no other reason for him to have been standing there, it was an empty part of the front lot. Just not bright enough to realize that I went to the nursery next door to buy a plant for my living room. Bought a 6 pack of Early Girl tomatoes. One died the first week. What I got on the other 5 were plum tomatoes which I don't like. The other 5 died in the middle of August. Also bought a 6 pack of California Bell peppers. What grew were some kind of long tapered pepper. I won't ever be going back to this place. read more

They really need to work on their customer service. Went in to buy a couple of fruit trees yesterday, waited and waited to have someone help me and eventually gave up and left (they were well aware I was waiting). There were a lot of people working there at the time. All of those workers should be able to provide customers with some basic help. As it is, it seems like their are two people authorized to help customers and that is simply not enough. read more

Really disappointed - bought over $100.00 worth of plants in April of 2015 and a few of the lavender plants died - out of 4- 2 just shriveled up. - and they were given plenty of attention; everything else did great. When I called them to tell them I about the lavender and how I think there is something wrong - could I bring them back to show them - the women who answered the phone briskly answered "Nope; they are not guaranteed" and hung up the phone. Now, I bought things from them and other nurseries in the past - I do a lot of successful gardening - but wow talk about bad service! Because they could have handled that better, and I'm convinced they were sick plants, I'm sure they won't miss my $100.00 sprees. read more

My family and I went this past weekend to Tony's to get our Christmas tree. We got a beautiful tree and the kids got to meet Santa and get a candy cane. and they had a petting zoo set up which my son loved! They have a terrific selection to choose from and the guy that helped us was really friendly. We also purchased a decorated wreath while we were there. read more

I bought two hanging baskets from here last year. I spent about $70 on both of them. After about a month and a half they were dead. I never had a problem with plants there until last year. They are way over priced and the employees there are rude. I will never go back. read more

Have been going there for years and I love it each time. It just has an atmosphere that I like. Plenty of parking, same employees that are knowledgeable, good prices, location, and GREAT selection. Tony's Nursery of Larchmont should be called Ripoff Nursery of Larchmont. Last week I went to that nursery and after consulting with two saleswomen, purchased three or four items, including two - 2 1/2 cubic foot bales of EZStraw Mulch with Tack, at $19.95 per bale. Later, my day worker started using one of the bags and asked me what I paid for each bag. He was amazed at the price, since the company he uses in Mount Kisco charges $12, equal to 60% less than Tony's. I then checked on the internet, and every other seller of the item was significantly less: True Value prices it at $13.95 per bale, Amazon prices it at $13.83, and both Tractor Supply and the manufacturer itself (Rhinoseed) charge $9.95. I was going to call Tony's and return the items, but the receipt is clearly marked in all caps: NO REFUNDS. I learned the phrase "caveat emptor" in high school economics, but this experience brought out the meaning of that phrase ("let the buyer beware") as an astonishing example of it. My wife had a similar experience with Tony's the week before, and she decided not to buy there at the time she was there. So, future shoppers, be forewarned. read more
