So late October/early November I took two pairs of shoes to Tonys Repair shop in Fairport. One needed heels - the other needed a new sole covering as it was dirty and starting to show wear. The top leather was fine as was the heel. I loved these comfortable shoes enough to spend the money and I spent $60.00 to have the soles covered by a professional shoe repairman. The shoes were supposed to be ready November 15th, I called several times and they were not complete. I called again yesterday and finally got a TXT today - they are ready!!! 2.5 months later. So Ken and drove the hour and a half to go get them. Here they are. The shop women said if they had covered the whole sole it would have been over $100. I told her if I had known this would be the finished product I would never have spent the $60. How unprofessional - how disappointing. They should have offered a refund and now after all this - my favorite slides are going in the trash.... Buyers who try to salvage a favorite beware - Don't go to Tonys' Shoe Repair. if I could give 0 stars I would. awful experience trying to get my husband's boots repaired. brought them in last October to be repaired, didn't get them back till December. repair lasted a week so my husband took them back as the glue had come undone and tony blamed him for misuse of the boots, took another several weeks to get them back and within another week or so the repair failed again, took boots back and again he blamed my husband when they were working inside on concrete for misuse and abuse of the boots. husband went to pick them up again a few weeks later and there were screws all through the soles, refused to give money back or offer compensation other than a future discount. terrible service, worse craftsmanship, don't go here. read more

Dropped off 3 pair of shoes Jan 25. Receipt said they would be done 2/8/25. Stopped by X 2 incomplete. Just picked up 3/7/25. Ridiculous amount of time to wait for elastic refill. No communication. Never again! read more

About the rudest lady I have run across. I took a tiedown strap and metal buckle in for a stitching repair. When I got it back I noticed that the metal bucket was not attached to the loop. She said I never dropped it off the buckle! I know that it is not true as I showed her how it was to be stitched together. They lost the buckle and just stitched a worthless loop. I will never go in there again! read more

They do really nice work. I've come here before to have a zipper fixed on my favorite boots. More recently, I dropped off two pairs to have the heels replaced. I couldn't believe they were able to build the heels back up again on both pairs and they look beautiful! I give them 5 stars for quality of work, but they lost one star for not calling me to say that one pair wouldn't be available for pick up the day they told me. It's a small business and they are busy, but I would have waited for both pairs to be finished instead of having to go back twice for pickup. read more

This was the most disappointing experience! The person answering the phone repeatedly lied about when my shoe would be fixed and took over 5 months to re-glue a heel onto one shoe ! We had to physically go to the store 3 times because phone calls didn't produce results and gave us no real information. I would go anywhere else except here ! First was a pair of Sandles that were stretching, which he insisted I tried on before I took to make sure they were just perfect. I also recently brought a pair of heels in with missing caps that I needed for a business trip the next day. I took a pair of my uggs to tonys in march. They were powder blue. They were old and worn so I was super excited to get them cleaned up. Especially since they had a huge sign in the window, saying that they specialized in uggs!! Well they should burn that sign!! So about 2 weeks later they were "done". I was shocked!! They dyed my boots teal.. like a Teal easter egg!! Very different from powder blue. I went back the next day and told the owner that I wasn't happy. He was shocked, told me how everyone was raving on how bright they were. They were bright alright!! But not the correct color. He was resistant on fixing them but took my boots. I called the next week and he said he was waiting for the correct color to come in. The next week the same story. He told me they would call me... months go by, no boots. Finally I call AGAIN. THEY LOST MY BOOTS! He tells me that they will Call me the next morning when they find them. Which I didn't believe cause they never call. So I went to the store.. The owner yelled at me telling me "well I guess you didn't listen to me". he's very mean and has horrible customer service. So I left again with out my boots. I had to wait over the weekend for him to find my boots. MY BOOTS ARE NOW SMURF BLUE, AND FEEL LIKE PLASTIC!!!!! I am so tired of fighting at this point I have given up. I am a merchant in the village of fairport. I like to support the local businesses. But this man is the worst shoe repair person I have ever met. He bought tonys when tony retired. It took over 2 months to get the straps replaced on my purse. After waiting and waiting and numerous excuses and wasted trips to the store, I finally got it back. No work was done until recently. Paid way too much for minimal work. I will NEVER go back. A completely frustrating experience. read more

I don't know which irritates me more- the fact that they ruined my favorite pair of boots or the fact that the owner yelled and cursed at me when I wasn't pleased with the results. First of all, the boots weren't even done when they said they would be done, which can happen so I understood that part but became frustrated when I went there to pick them up for the second time and they still weren't done. They had my cell number which they did not use to communicate that it would once again take longer than expected. I was even more frustrated when i went to pick them up for the third time and even though they were done they looked terrible. Tony assured me that you wouldn't even be able to tell anything was done to them which was not the case. There's a huge freakin patch on them with some bootleg stitching. My 250 dollar boots ruined. I would have just left them how they were with the elastic stretched out. They were completely butchered. When I pointed out the issue he became very rude. "i have to pay someone 12.50 an hour to fix these." he says as if his overhead and how much he pays his employees should concern me. He said "I only charged you 44 dollars." Well mr. I would have paid more for you to actually fix them correctly. Then he started yelling at me. I asked politely not to raise his voice at me to which he responded, "No, I will raise my voice at you!" I told him that as a customer coming into his store I didn't think it was necessary for him to yell at me. This is where it gets better. He goes, "JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE A CUSTOMER DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING. I'M NOT GOING TO KISS YOUR ASS JUST BECAUSE YOU'RE A CUSTOMER HERE." He told me that customers like me who "want perfection can go somewhere else." Needless to say I left with the boots still looking like crap because I wasn't going to even deal with him anymore. It was just completely unprofessional. Even if my requests were completely ridiculous (they weren't), that is still not how you handle a customer service situation. At one point he even made me nervous. I'm a young girl in there by myself with this big man yelling at me... I just removed myself from the situation. I wouldn't go back if they paid me. Beware. Even if this place is right near your house you're better off driving the extra few miles to go somewhere else. read more

I brought my daughter's very expensive purse here to have a buckle replaced. Having been raised in Fairport, I wanted to support a local small business. A week shy of 3 months later, I finally got it back. It appeared a hacksaw, or chainsaw, had been taken to the slot to fit a too large clasp in. It appeared drops of dye had splashed on both the front and back of the purse. Phone calls were not returned. Commitments were not met. The work was absolutely a disaster. I did not get yelled at as did another reviewer, but I certainly wish I had read her review before deciding to patronize this place. It is awful. read more

I went here to get the zippers in my boots replaced. Not only were they finished a week late, but the work was very sloppy. The leather wasn't cut straight and the thread didn't match, so the crooked, uneven stitching stood out and just looked awful. Even after going back to have them try to fix the job, the boots looked bad. So when one of the zippers started falling out only a few weeks after I got the boots home, I went to Cobbler's Corner in Henrietta, instead. The people at Cobbler's Corner were fantastic! They were friendlier, easier to talk with, and much more professional. They re-trimmed the leather to even it out and completely re-stitched the zippers. They did a beautiful job! They saved my boots and I couldn't be happier! What a world of difference, both in service and in workmanship! read more

Brought in a very expensive pair of men's Alden shell cordovan dress shoes to have them resoled with JR soles. They charged me $150( a fair price for these soles, the shoes cost over $600 so thats how it goes). They told me it'd be a week. Several weeks went by and finally they called and said they'd be ready. I went in and examined the shoes. They had not used JR soles but generic leather soles. I questioned him about it and he sputtered something about ordering ones without logos and promised to fix them with real JR soles. To me, this reeks of dishonesty. When I finally got the shoes over a month later, they were ok, I can't complain about the work they did, but it took over a month and they apparently tried to scam me by using materials inferior to what I paid for. I'd avoid them like the plague. All the other customers that were in the shop when I was there were complaining about their wait times, etc. On the plus side, they do have a very nice Chihuahua. read more

I have to agree with the other reviews. The experience I had today with the owner was unbelievable! He was yelling and very intimidating. He should not be in business!! My experience was this, I have a wedding and brought my sandals to be cut down to a lower heel. He not only took my money but didn't even touch the shoe, said he did but I went to the lengths to buy the same shoe at Lord and Taylor to proof to him he didn't cut down the heel at all. It was an unbelievable experience of his ling, yelling, intimating, denying, disrespectful behavior. I am floored that he is still in business! He finally gave my money back but with a fight. I have never experienced such rudeness coming from this owner. If you need anything done please beware of Tony's Shoe Repair, you will not regret going somewhere else for service.
