I ordered the vegetarian burrito and was disappointed with my experience. The menu didn't make it clear that the burrito would be smothered in green sauce, and I was expecting red sauce instead. The avocado was also very unevenly distributed, so the first several bites tasted almost entirely like avocado rather than a balanced burrito. After realizing I didn't enjoy the dish, I politely asked if I could order something different, even a simple bean burrito, but I was told that wasn't possible. I've never had a restaurant refuse to let me order anything a replacement meal when I was genuinely dissatisfied with what I received. To make matters worse, our server seemed unfamiliar with the menu and wasn't able to answer basic questions about the food. In town on a business trip, always looking for that little hole in the wall place to eat, because that's often where the best food is. Well, Tony's did not disappoint. Had the number 3 Carnitas plate and it was outstanding. Salsa was good, chips were crisp, and the server was friendly and efficient. What more could one ask for! I am literally sitting here at Tony's Tacos in Heber City, and unfortunately, my experience has been less than satisfactory. We have been waiting over an hour for our food, which is super frustrating given the lack of communication from the staff. During our long wait, we received only one basket of chips, and our water glasses were never refilled. To make matters worse, our waiter did not check on us at any point, leaving us feeling neglected and unappreciated. While the food might be worth the wait for some, the poor service certainly overshadowed the experience. With 11 people here I would think it would be easier to get people taken care of. Horrible. They have catered our office several times this might be the last Taco I eat here. read more

This Mexican restaurant as OK but nothing to write home about. They are a family run operation and have a friendly vibe. You can order at the counter and then take your number to your table or you can have a waiter take your order at the table. They have beer only which was not what I wanted - tequila and lime shooters was what I really wanted. Ordered the carnitas plate and it was very good - well seasoned, fresh homemade corn tortillas was the hit. Rice and beans were not tasty but edible. House made fresh salsa that comes with the chips was very good - I ordered 2 more bowls to go along with the carnitas plate. read more

We have lived here for two years and finally tried Tony's Tacos. I'm so upset we haven't been here before. It was amazing!!!! We are from Texas and have been on the hunt for good Mexican and Tony's Tacos was exceptional. We had the carne asada street tacos with chips salsa/guac. The meat was very good quality. Stopped by and ordered some carnitas tacos around 4pm and it went pretty quick. Person taking my order was very nice. Got my food in about 5min. Came back around 7:30pm, it was much busier and it took about 15/20 minutes to get 3 tacos. The food was great. Interior of restaurant looked a bit dirty, could use updating. While driving to Wyoming, my family and I stopped by this little restaurant for a quick lunch. I really enjoyed their food and service and so did my family! The waitress was very nice. Every worker was wearing a mask; however, many of the customers were not. Nonetheless, the seats and tables were spaced far enough that my family and I felt fairly comfortable eating here. I just wish the mask regulations were a little stricter and more enforced. read more

The food here isn't bad. The price is low but the service is absolutely horrible. They act as if you're bothering them just by walking, at least the two younger employees/servers. It's really sad when you into a family owned business like that numerous times and you get treated like a piece of garbage no matter polite you are or how well you tip. I hope someone from there reads this and the servers get their attitudes adjusted but I don't think it will happen. read more

Holy tacos. I am a huge fan of street tacos and Tony's tacos didn't disappoint. I got the #10 taco plate with one beef, pork and chicken. They are simple with meat, onions and cilantro but they give Yoo-hoo this sauce to put on them. It is so good! Love the atmosphere and I was served quIckly. I did come right before the lunch rush but they are very efficient. The staff was super nice and helpfull when deciding what to get. I will be a frequenter here when I am in the area. read more

This is my favorite Mexican restaurant in Heber City. I moved here from Las Cruces, New Mexico, so I prefer the rich chile red and green sauces famous to that region. I haven't found the sauces anywhere in Heber City, so I make my own, but Tony's is where I go for tacos, tamales, and al pastor plates. The service is friendly and fast, the prices are reasonable, and the place is clean. They serve chips and salsa with your meal, they offer homemade tortillas, which are served properly in a tortilla warmer, and their plates are at least warm, if not hot, to keep your food warm. I have never been served a flat soda here, and their lime wedges are always juicy. It's sad that I feel the need to mention these details, but if you eat in Heber City restaurants, you know that the details are often overlooked. This place isn't fancy, but it's warm and welcoming and incredibly consistent in quality. read more

Ordered a carne burrito and the meat was not fresh and hard like it was made on Saturday and today is Monday. How do I know because they were closed yesterday. One of the few places we've eaten at that I haven't Yelped in advance, but we were not disappointed. We had an early lunch so were the only patrons for awhile, but took it as a good sign that construction workers and Latinos started filling the place by the time we were packing up. Favorite part: BEST RICE AND BEANS that I've had in Utah so far. (As a CA native, authentic Mexican food has mostly been a disappointment here aside from the occasional burrito joint or Red Iguana, which is a totally different type of food.) The main dishes can be good, but if the rice and beans aren't up to par, it's hard to not write off a place. Tony's Tacos wins. Big time. When I couldn't decide between the carne asada and the carnitas, the waitress recommended the asada and asked if I wanted onions with it (I did.) The meat was served differently than I've ever had it - diced up pieces of beef on a sizzling skillet - but the flavor was good (no weird grisly pieces like you sometimes find) and the portion was huge. Not the best carne asada I've ever had but it was solid and I enjoyed it. Served with generous side of those magical rice and beans, avocado slices, some shredded lettuce (basic but fresh), and the other total plus of the restaurant: house-made tortillas. The flour ones were beautiful and I wish I'd ordered more to take home with my leftovers. My husband's chicken enchiladas were very tasty as well, though we wondered at the limited choices (chicken or cheese). The red sauce was surprisingly good, and again, the rice and beans!! Got a chicken taco for our toddler, and it was standard but a huge portion of diced-up meat on a hand-made corn tortilla. Prices are totally reasonable - we got out of there for less than $20 and a big box of leftovers. We also really liked the fresh salsa served with the chips, and the bottles of salsas/sauces they brought out with the food - a spicy verde and a smoky chipotle one. It looks a bit dingy and in need of some updating, but we found the restaurant clean and were happy with the authenticity - it made us overlook the worn-out dining room. Plenty of high chairs and seating. Good selection of bottled Mexican cokes and Jaritos, and some desserts. The service was polite and fast - you can order at the counter or at your table, and though it was a bit confusing how we should pay our bill, we ended up paying at the counter, too. Don't forget to tip! We definitely will make the trek back here from Salt Lake, even just for a big plate of the rice and beans and the tortillas!! Excited to try more of the dishes too. read more

Came here last night with my brother and his family to celebrate my niece's award recognition ceremony. The place closes at 9 and we walked in at 820. The main dining room had all the chairs on the tables like they were closing up shop. My brother had started ordering food for the 7 of us in the group and asked if there was a table we could sit at. The female server was super rude and nasty giving the guy taking our order dirty looks and telling him he shouldn't let us sit in the dining room and that we had to sit up at the front of the shop where there was only a table with 2 seats. The two workers kept going back and forth and my brother said if we can't sit we will just cancel the order ($80 worth of food). The guy didn't say anything so we just went and pulled down chairs and pushed 2 tables together (we also had another 3 people join us from the ceremony as well and about 8 other people walked in after us). We had to go back up to the counter after almost 10 mins when we still hadn't received our drinks or chips and salsa. The gentleman ended up bringing it to us after the girl gave my brother another dirty looked and went to serve the people at the front. My experience within the first five minutes gives this place one star for me. If you don't want to serve people up and until 9pm, close your doors at 7 or make it clear that you can only do take out after a certain time. The only thing that brings it up to a 3 is the food and the guy who took our order. If I based it on the girl alone it would have been a 0 if that was even possible. Way disappointed in the experience because the food is actually really good and the space is decent. If I get to go back the next time I visit my family I hope it's a different experience so I can update the review. My brother and his wife and son all ordered the street tacos (chicken, steak, pork, el pastor) as that is their favorite dish at the restaurant and the reason they wanted to go here for dinner. They were little double mini tortillas with the meat on top and then topped off with cilantro and onions and limes on side. The boys loved the green sauce that was on the table to add to their tacos and my brother noted that the color was different than last time so they must make it fresh. My nieces ordered the tamales and I ordered the vegetarian burrito. The street tacos were all devoured and the girls enjoyed the tamales although the red sauce was a bit too spicy for them. The burrito was as big as the plate and it was packed with ingredients: lettuce, tomato, avocado, cheese, rice and beans. Food is good authentic Mexican! I had Tony's Tacos. The chicken and beef were super flavorful. Rice and beans were exactly what you'd expect from a classic Mexican joint like this. They give you chips and salsa every order over $14. Staff is friendly but our food took forever to fome out. By the time out food arrived the other two families we cake with had already finished their plates and needed to head out. That's why I'm knocking off a star. We started at the take out window and placed our order. After a while we had to go in because no one was giving us attention when we were waiting to pay. When we went in we finally got someone to swipe our card. I'm assuming they were understaffed because of COVID and I'm understanding of that. That's why I didn't take off two stars. Over all a good place to go when that south of the border craving strikes. P.S. Give the cow tongue taco a try. Tender meat. Tasty stuff. read more

A tiny gem in Heber City when it comes to Mexican Food. I've tried all of what Heber has to offer and I can legitimately say this tasted the best and most authentic. Is it in a beautiful restaurant? No, atmosphere is basic and clean family run place. The portions aren't over done to the insane size America's have become accustomed to which is GOOD thing! I was able to finish my food and not feel like a bloated pig or take half of it home to die in my fridge later. The rice and the beans ( which I not normally avoid) were full of flavor and complimented the steak corn shelled tacos I got. The home made sauces were spicy and I loved the pickled jalapeños. You have my attention Tony! I'll be back and I will recommend with enthusiasm to others. read more

A small fabulous Mexican restaurant in Heber City is not to be missed. Tony's is very casual and everyone seemed to know each other. It almost felt like a little village in Mexico. The sigh by which we judge them is how good and how hot the salsa is. It is very, very, very hot. The green salsa is supposed to be slightly less hot but I couldn't tell the difference. I had the flautuas and they were great. They came with beans and rice and they were huge so I had some take out left. I washed them down with ice cold Mexican Coke in a bottle and will be back to try more items on their menu. read more

This place was actually super good. Kind of a hole in the wall and the seating, in my opinion, was a little bit awkward. You either order at the counter and get your food faster, or use it down and it takes longer for someone to come over and take your order. The food was really good and the street tacos with onions and cilantro were exceptional. The cheese enchiladas were pretty much your basic Mexican restaurant enchiladas, but I think I liked the sauce better than your typical sauce. They don't give you a ton of rice or beans, but maybe that's because people don't really eat them? I don't know. Fast service, good food, get in get out, yummy. read more
