We cooked, used the fire pit at night, even though the cabins are close it was quite at night to be able to sleep. It's was like staying in one of the tiny house that you see on TV! You have to bring your own linens, towels but I'm OK with that. There are pots, pans, coffee pot, toaster, plates, silverware so it all worked for us. I would stay here again and recommend it to others going to the area. Oh the only thing that was a challenge was the bathroom mirror! If your 6' or taller you'll be able to use it other wise bring a mirror! ; )

I've been coming here since I quite literally fit into a bucket (not exaggerating). Allegany has been a constant for me and probably the beginning of my love for everything outdoors. Growing up, my family spent Columbus Day weekends camping here, originally along McIntosh Trail and later at Summit Trail near the Art Roscoe Ski Area and fire tower on the Red House side of the park. Now, they go extra fancy and stay on Bova Trail. Over the years, Allegany became the backdrop for countless adventures from tent camping, cabin stays, hiking, geocaching, and just being together outdoors. These days, instead of Columbus Day, I usually start the year here by staying in a cabin and doing the First Day Hike with my dad. While my most recent visit wasn't the best, it doesn't erase the years of great memories before it. I've visited Allegany in every season, but autumn will always be my favorite thanks to the foliage. The trails shine in summer and fall. I've backpacked the North Country Trail through the park, hiked nearly every trail, and uncovered some lesser known gems along the way. I participate in the park's hiking challenges, serve on the board of the Allegany State Park Historical Society, and appreciate organizations like Friends of Allegany for the work they do to protect and enhance this place. The Red House Restaurant serves up some good times and great food, too. From Thunder Rocks to the Bear Caves, beaches, creeks, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, geocaching (including night caches and GeoBash!), and endless quiet corners, Allegany surely offers something for everyone. It's located a mere hour and 45 minutes from Buffalo and to me, it's a crown jewel of the New York State Park system. My advice? Do a little research before you go so you can make the most of your visit. Stop by the Administration Building on the Red House side, explore Thunder Rocks or the Bear Caves, and camp if you can. And whatever you do... don't feed the bears!

If that's not your speed, you can rent the paddle boats or a canoe to go around Rabbit Island, go fishing, or go for a dip in the lake. It's a nice quiet campground and coming from the city, you can really see the stars out there! If tent camping or RV camping isn't your thing, you can go glamping and rent one of their cabins. They're perfect to enjoy with some family or friends (I've done both on a few occasions). Bonus- you get your own shower, toilet and a fully functional kitchen! But you'll have to book them early as they can go fast! My family has long ties with the Bull family and they are truly amazing people! Definitely book a weekend (or a season) with Camp Arrowhead!

Police came in several times when the owner returned. It was apparent after seeing him with Mike's hard drink in hand in the morning, that's the problem. This guy drives the tractor then and smashes a bunch of things including a picnic bench. I was scared he was going to hit my RV when he drove it. Then he starts trying to fix the road himself (it was fine when he came back). He starts dumping dirt all over it. Pete fixes it again after that. Oh yeah the dog park, they didn't put in a swing gate so the dog park is way overgrown and they can't get a mower in. Who wants to take their dog into a tick park? Then comes Friday and we see him go outside in the morning during the daylight and take a poop outside in public (bathrooms are across the street from him). Fast forward to when we are trying to leave and he's pouring mud all over the roads. Thankfully he didn't cover the one side and we were able to get out. The campground owner needs rehab, 100%. I don't feel he's a bad guy, just stuck in a drunken stupor. This is a quiet, no-frills campground. We never had any issues with the water electric or any hook ups. We definitely did not drink the water there as we never drink campground water anyway. Sites are pretty level. It rained heavy a few times and our site stayed pretty dry. As long as the owner is not present, things are ran and look great.

Rates are competitive. The grounds and facilities are meticulously maintained. Shower rooms are very clean. We leave our travel trailer here and come several times a month for a few days. That is one way to cope with the fuel crunch and not have your RV/TT sit in your driveway unused. I would recommend Misty Mountains without reservation.

It was great to buy firewood right on site, the store is stocked up on everything you might forget, and the ice cream hit the spot! The cabin was beautiful, cozy, warm, and incredibly clean. The kitchen area was well stocked with an assortment of cookware and utensils, and there was a great grill & fire ring outside. We made great use of the fire ring to make s'mores even though it was quite cold! The owners are extremely welcoming and friendly, and be on the lookout for one of the camp cats, Oliver, if you'd like to make a new furry friend!

Small oven, stove, fridge. Heater, gas fireplace, air conditioner and fire pit. We cooked at home and hiked or biked during the day. Jon the manager was super nice and replaced a chair we broke same day. He also apologized for not returning my call for 15 minutes and gave us some free firewood to make up for the minor inconvenience. I liked having a shower and bathroom in our cabin, but we did use the key to get into the shower house, which was clean and stocked. Nice place!
