Other reviewer Kaitlynn has it right: you go in and you see the grooming tables, and the place is still clean and functional. The high half wall was a little surprising at first, but I quickly came to appreciate it once I realized that there were a few dogs trotting around and playing before and after their groomings. In fact, my little corgi immediately found a tennis ball and started scurring around as soon as he went through, and for me, that's a very good sign that he's relaxed enough to play. Their tagline of "every groom starting with a belly rub" is a great representation of their incredibly friendly and playful staff. It's not just a fun time, though. When I came to pick up my dog (and I completely respect their asking you to come back after they call you -- imagine your pup jumping from clippers once it sees you), he looked amazing. Great paw trim and they even managed to do his nails without him *completely freaking out.* I appreciate that they wrote down my requests as I dropped him off. I'm going to be a regular customer, and tell everyone I know who's looking for a groomer.

I was waiting for them to take my dog and they were arguing about who had to take the next doodle type dog. They were not friendly didn't trim my little dog at all like the pictures I sent and they were expensive. After several tries I gave up especially after I heard them not wanting to do certain dogs. so unprofessional to do it with me standing there.

I took my Chin-Wah (Japanese Chin/Chihuahua) for her first grooming. She doesn't shed, but was in…read moreneed of a good summer cut. I asked for the length to be basically 1" and a Brazillian on her girly bits. What she got was a hack job and was still partially dirty. Her white chest is splotchy gray and girly bits are yellowed. I wash her myself, so I know for a fact she is white furred in both those areas. It cost $65 before tip. The owner was condescending, when I spoke with her. She kept saying "Well, I'd have to see it." Because, evidently, my word isn't enough. I even told her I could send pictures, but she kept over talking me.

When entering the two girls inside were so happy and caring it put her pup at ease...the few little treats she got when walking in probably didn't hurt either. The selection of treate and toys (treats that are fresh and super healthy) is amazing and the prices aren't bad either. You can mix and match all of their snacks and treats by the pound, so your pup can try a little of everything.

Initially we switched to this vet because the vet we trust and love no longer offered large animal…read moreservices. Spoon River promised and assured us they would be available in the event of a large animal emergency. Not long after we hit a streak of bad luck with our horses. The first incident our horse injured her hoof in the pasture causing an extreme laceration, upon contacting Spoon River they stated they were too busy to send someone and recommended we trailer the horse that couldn't walk 5 feet let alone step up into the trailer to them. It was not until weeks later when the dogs were taken in for shots that we consulted the small animal vet as to what more we could be doing for our horse (she is fine now, no thanks to them). The following spring we had an older horse go down, we knew it was probably his time but wanted to give him a fighting chance. It took them 2 days to finally send someone out and by that point it was entirely too late. The final straw... our horse with known arthritis started swelling, we called and again they were too busy, the next day he was found laying in the pasture unable to get up. For 15 hours I sat with my horse hoping and praying. Yet again Spoon River left us high and dry and for our animal to suffer. It was awful watching my boy struggle and knowing there was nothing I could do for him. I called another veterinary service and they managed to fit us right in and were rushing to get to us. However, by the time they got there it was too late and he had passed on his own. So, if you have large animals please!!!! please!!! do not trust that Spoon River will be there to help you when you need it most. not to mention the unprofessionalism and rude staff. They will never touch any of our animals EVER again.
