We purchased my 20-year anniversary ring from this store in December 2023. We did not walk in with…read morethree independently purchased pieces and demand that they be combined. Their design associate guided us through selecting the diamond, center band, and outer guard, confirmed that the pieces worked together, and their jeweler assembled and soldered them into the finished ring.
The ring has since broken twice in the exact same location. After the first break, the store added gold to reinforce it, but it broke again only nine months later. The owner continued to insinuate that the damage was caused by improper care and refused to accept any responsibility. Similar to other reviews posted, I received the same criticism of "heavily loved" and "extensive wear" being seen on the ring. I work in a doctor's office and, since this ring is so special to me, I take it off when doing anything "heavy," like going to the gym or even when I travel. When I stated thi I was told, "that is not what I see," and essentially called a liar. And how can you refute? Andrew Graff is an "expert."
Rather than having any kind of confrontation we left and took the ring to another jeweler in town, one with decades of history here in Colorado Springs, so we could get another expert opinion and see if they agreed with Andrew's assessment. We did not identify this store to the other jeweler. After inspecting the original assembly and repair, he said the design was destined to fail and that the reinforcement had been poorly done and was insufficient to prevent another break. He is now rebuilding it, guaranteeing his work, and charging one-quarter of what this store wanted for another repair.
The floor associate was the only positive part of this experience and why is gets a 2-star and not a 1-star review. She was kind and sympathetic while I was silently crying due to the emotion caused by my 20yr anniversary ring being broken yet again. She even acknowledged that the pieces should not have been put together that way. Unfortunately, Andrew Graff, the owner, left us feeling blamed, dismissed, and with a $1,000 estimate for the repair, or only offering us a trade in for the current weight in gold. I am paying the other experienced jeweler $250 to repair it, AND it is coming with a written guarantee.
For such a meaningful ring, I expected the store to stand behind its design guidance and workmanship. Based on the repeated failure, inadequate repair, and refusal to take responsibility, I cannot recommend this store. If you choose to go here, only buy finished products, and don't trust their repairs. I truly was given the impression that they are only about the sale and how much money they can get, not about the customer nor their quality of work.
