Then I emailed today to see when they would pick up. They called and said they would be here at noon to pick up. By 2:30 they hadn't arrived. When they finally did get here, my husband walked out as one of them threw trash in my yard. I had a great experience with Top Hat. A week before our wedding we had some unforseen additions and rental vendor wasn't able to accomodate us. The florist we were using suggested that we try Top Hat so 9 days before our wedding my husband and I stopped in on a Thursday evening and spoke with someone (not sure who, a woman) who was very helpful. They were able to accomodate us and we were in and out within 40 minutes. The morning of the wedding the best man picked up our items with no problem and dropped them at the reception site. Returning everything was also no problem. In the confusion of things being broken down after the wedding several of the linens that were rented from Top Hat were taken by our caterer and we didn't find this out until we were on the way to the airport for our honeymoon. My mother in law went in and told them what happened and that we would get them from the caterer and get them back as soo as possible (when we returned from our honeymoon) and they were fine with us - didn't even charge a late fee for a late return of some of the rented items. Although we didn't use them for the bulk of our linen/china/table rentals I met them at a bridal show and they were also very friendly and helpful there. Top Hat was the lighting vendor for my wedding last October. The good first: the staff is nice and price reasonable. The bad: the owner is extremely difficult to get a hold of and does not return phone calls or emails. I tried to set an appointment with someone to discuss our lighting needs and they said come by on Saturday morning, not giving us a time but assuring the owner would probably be there for us to talk to. That should've been my first red flag. What vendor doesn't make firm appointments? Anyway, since it is on the way to our reception venue, we stopped by. The owner was there and we sat down to discuss what we wanted. He offered some suggestions and said he would go down to the venue and see how many par cans/lighting stands he needed, what colors would look good against the wall, etc. He was supposed to get back to us the following week after he had done the site visit. We didn't hear from him, so my husband called to follow up. No call back. He called again. No call back. He called and called and emailed that the staff knew the sound of his voice. Still no answer. Our initial meeting with him was in either late June or early July. The week before our wedding in October, we still hadn't heard. Now I bet you're wondering why we're still pursuing this guy. Well, he had the best price by a good margin and at this point my husband had invested so much time in trying to contact this guy that it would've been a waste if we went elsewhere. So exactly 7 days before our wedding we drove almost an hour to his shop on Saturday morning because those were his "office hours" and finally talked to him. I was not to happy about the situation and he knew it, but we still wanted him to do our lighting so I couldn't be so upset. We finally got him to do a site check and got a contract together. He did the lighting and it looked good. They set it up on time and took it down when they were supposed to. Was it worth the hassle to stick with this vendor? No. But did everything turn out fine? I got married in April and have only amazing things to say about Top Hat Party! They went above and beyond to make our wedding so beautiful! Everything was clearly laid out from the start and all delivery instructions were made well in advance. They communicated directly with our wedding location which made everything even easier for us! This is the first review I have ever written. But I needed people to understand the things we went through. Don't EVER use this company/ Where do I begin??? First of all, the first day I meet with the owner(older white male) you would have thought I was talking to a king. I walked in and told him why I was there and he stated "hold on a second, I've been on Ebay all morning trying to bid on this item". I should have walked out of the place right then and there but a women (I think his wife) walked over and helped me. After talking to his wife about items we would like for our wedding, the owner(older male) decided he wanted to chime in and I quickly told him to continue this Ebay purchase. From that moment on things got worse. They assured me that if it rained the week of the wedding then they would set the tent up early. They of course didn't. I don't think I can stress to you enough how this guy talked to people. He really talked to people and his co workers like he was the king and he didn't need your 6k. The staff is unprofessional and the week of the wedding when they decided to set our tent up. I was told I would get a phone so I could meet the crew out at the venue. Of course that didnt happen and I was TOLD to get out there ASAP or they were going to leave our linens out in the weather!!!! I had to stop my other arrangements I had planned to get out there. Of course I proceeded to tell this A****** about what he "said" he was going to do. It was like talking to a wall. The crew came out and didn't say a word to me. I walked over to them and noticed the dance floor wasn't in the middle of the tent. I asked him to move it and I was returned with an attitude. I was busy making sure other things were taken care of and suddenly I see Top Hat van leaving my venue. I look over at the tent and notice the dance floor wasn't centered at all. I call them no answer. The WORST experience I have ever had with a company!!! Go with another company who is professional!! The tent wasn't even all it was cracked up to be. I normally do not write reviews, but I have to because I received top-notch service and equipment for the second year in a row from Top Hat Party Design. I give a yearly Labor Day party at my house and this company has made my party planning seamless. Wendy and Cookie went above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed. They provided excellent customer service. I ordered a 20' x 40' tent, lighting, 60 chairs, a 12' x 12' dance floor, and 8 tables. The equipment was delivered and set up on time. My first impression when I arrived to talk about renting things for my event was poor customer service and unimpressive show room. I should have turned around and used a different vendor. I was ready to drop some money but they could have cared less. I was looking for staging, moon bounce, games and slush machine. What I ended up with was just a moon bounce and it was not as big as I had hoped. Then came time for paying the balance and I was called at 7:38 AM and 7:48 AM! Hours for conducting business generally begin at 9am and they should be considerate of other peoples schedules. I would not recommend them to anyone even though I always try to give business to local businesses rather than going outside the county. read more
