Future Brides: Do NOT Trust Them with your wedding hair or make up. I feel terrible writing this, but I feel an obligation to warn other women so they aren't left heartbroken on their wedding day. I booked this team for my bridal hair and makeup, and they specifically instructed me to wait until three weeks before the wedding to do my hair trial. I followed their directions, and the results were so disappointing I actually cried. My Experience: Beyond the poor quality of work, I was shocked by how I was treated. Throughout the process, I was made to feel like I wasn't a bride about to have the biggest day of my life. There was no sense of care, professionalism, or understanding of the importance of the occasion. It felt as though my concerns were a nuisance, and my expectations for my own wedding day were beneath them. The Red Flags: Zero Flexibility: When I asked how the trial worked if I didn't like the look, they told me they could only "tweak" it slightly, not fully change it. They tried two styles that absolutely did not work, and when I told them I wouldn't wear either, their solution was for me to send "inspiration photos" and they would just try a brand-new style on the actual wedding day. Subpar Quality: The makeup look was incredibly low-effort and definitely not bridal material. Neither the hair nor the makeup met the standard of what a bride should look like on her wedding day. The Timeline Trap: Waiting until the 3-week mark leaves you completely cornered if things go wrong, which feels entirely intentional. The Outcome: I am so incredibly thankful I did not trust them to wing it on my wedding day. I scrambled, found a new hair stylist with less than three weeks to go, and my new stylist made my hair look absolutely amazing. Please learn from my experience: Do not wait until 3 weeks before your wedding to do a trial with them, and be very careful before trusting them with your big day. I was scheduled for an untimely interview Saturday night for a book. I cancelled my appointment on Sunday at 10:18 am. Lauren texted me that she is charging me $37.50 for violating Top Knot cancellation policy of 48 hours. My appointment is on Tuesday at 10 am. I was 18 minutes too late. Here's my concern; she has two very kind amazing and conscientious nail and esthetician ladies that I have been seeing on a regular basis for fills. I see them not because of the prices I'm charged which is more than I am use to paying but because they are much deserving of my business. I appreciate these amazing ladies very much. LAUREN that you would charge me because I'm 18 minutes late into your cancellation POLICY OF 48 hours on a matter beyond my control that I had to change is low to say the least. She is very considerate of the neurodivergent community and any sensory needs. She will check in with you about water temperature , salon loudness , hair products with fragrance , and offers you fidget toys and breaks if needed . As someone in the neurodivergent community , these small accommodations mean the world to me ! She makes sure your comfort level is top priority . I came in for a haircut , wash and style . I strongly discourage anyone from using their services for their wedding. Top Knot was responsible for derailing the timeline multiple times, used non-waterproof makeup causing prominent smearing and struggled to follow directions. 1) Derailing the Wedding Timeline While getting information about bridal services and trials, I was hounded to fill out their contract, warning me that my date would be booked and unavailable if I didn't act fast. So, I filled out the contract specifying the ceremony time and that I'd need hair and makeup to be done at the venue early enough to have first look photos. A week before my wedding, I emailed to confirm this would be possible. It wasn't. They asked me to rearrange my wedding schedule, but assured me that they would work quickly so I'd only be a little late. Top Knot arrived 15 minutes late and finished the bride's hair and makeup 45 minutes after "worst case scenario". This caused the first look photos and bridesmaids portraits to be cut short. 2) Trouble accepting direction Make-up: I wanted a natural look, but with liquid eyeliner. Lauren really insisted on giving me false eyelashes. I like my naturally long eyelashes, like how eyeliner looks and feel uncomfortable with false lashes. I told Lauren multiple times that I did not want false lashes and a bridesmaid had to explain to her until she finally relented. Also, Lauren almost forgot the setting spray and had to apply it while I was getting my hair done. I LOVED my bridal trial hair! I looked like Meg from Hercules! Bonnie was so patient as I tried multiple styles, and when I finally went with her suggestion, it was perfect! But during my wedding day, you could tell it was rushed as the face framing strands of hair weren't as curled, the part wasn't straight and the hair was pulled so tight I had very apparent uneven hairlines despite my naturally thick hair. 3) Racoon / Eyeliner Smearing I admit I shed a few happy tears during my wedding ceremony. I was ready to take family portraits, but my photographer encouraged me to look at my makeup. My bridesmaids and I went to the bridal suite and saw big black smudges running down from my eyes. I looked like a raccoon! It took about 15-20 minutes to clean up and reapply, during which my very pregnant sibling had to wait in the sun for me to return for portraits. Then during the speeches, I shed a few more tears. This time, the smearing under my eyes wasn't as bad -- probably because we took off so much makeup the first time -- but it still was not a cute look. I wanted a natural look, but during the most anticipated parts of the wedding, I looked like a fool. Also, on the reservation confirmation, it kept showing we were meeting at the salon despite confirming multiple times that we were meeting at the venue. This was not the biggest problem, but added to the last minute stress on the days leading up to the wedding. I deeply regret having Top Knot do my wedding hair and makeup due to their late arrival, trouble listening and smearing of makeup. read more

Normally I am very laid back about appointments happening on time, but on my wedding day, I was very much not. I went on a Saturday to get my nails done and the place was dark, door locked. Naturally, I freaked out thinking I had gotten my days wrong or something, but no. I called the number and they let me know that I was the first appointment of the day and the person who was supposed to open was running late. Okay, not a big deal, and shortly they arrive. The end result - my mani/pedi was beautiful, and held up well. The girl doing my nails was super nice and I loved the 80s music playing. The next day, someone was supposed to arrive at the hotel do bridal hair and makeup, as well as hair for my mom and mother in law. 15 minutes behind schedule I ended up calling again to see what was happening, no answer. Finally someone arrives and informs me that my stylist has the stomach flu, but another person is coming in two hours. Two hours?! I understand that getting sick is no one's fault, but what irked me was that when I brought up that this wouldn't leave enough time, she got irritated and said that according to my paperwork I didn't need to be ready until three. The ceremony started at 3, so common sense dictates I would need to be ready before then, and secondly, I filled that out months ago, and just days before the wedding, plans changed to include a first look at 2. Again, it should have been plenty of time, given that two others were also supposed to be getting hair done after me, but she made it seem like this was my fault. I will admit I was probably sensitive because I was so nervous that day and this didn't help, but ultimately she was able to do my makeup and another client finished early so another woman came and did our hair. (The woman who did my hair - Amanda? - had incredible taste in music btw). Overall, the nails, hair, and makeup looked stunning, just keep in mind that things do tend to run on, what I've been told is, "mountain time". read more

Jamie is my new hair girl, I've never had my hair done by anyone I was interested in seeing regularly and now I will only go to her from now on! My first time there, recommended by a friend, tried to get lashes put on about 15 years ago and got major vertigo and had to leave. Got an appointment with Ariel the other day. She was so kind and helpful with all of my questions and setting up an appointment. I had NO idea exactly what I wanted. There's actually a lot of different options. I basically told her to look at my lashes and just take over.... whatever she thought was best. She even considered my wearing glasses because if they are too long it's annoying when they hit the glass. lol You glasses people know what I am talking about. When I got there, her room is just so awesome. I love the decorations and it's so calm and beautiful. She talked me through every step she was doing and for the first time in my life, I kept falling asleep, because it was so dang comfortable, but yet, for two hours I was having lashes put on my eyes, which we all know are very sensitive. Took me about 10 minutes and I was completely relaxed. When I saw how they looked when she was done, it was exactly what I had imagined. She really nailed it on the head. AND no more mascara yay!
