First customer Service: have you ever been asked what you want then told you can't get it or the backup options you had in mind? The quality looked like it could've been smeared on by a toddler. The vibe was no where near what it should be. Painful experience. I'd gone in once previously and was helped by a younger man. I was getting an acrylics set and got sides of my fingers on both hands filed. It took weeks to fully recover- they were painful to the touch and my cuticles were bleeding. I assumed it was just a newer employee who didn't have much practice and made the mistake of coming again months later because of the good reviews for this place. I came in 6/7/25 for a simple gel manicure. This time an older woman did my nails. The experience was even worse. I'd never seen someone pull up a movie on their phone while painting someone's nails in a "professional" setting. She'd pause painting my nails when the show got good... I wish I were joking or exaggerating. The only urgency I saw come through was while working on my cuticles. I ended up with 5 of my cuticles cut and swollen. It's been 2 days and I still can't wash my hands with warmer water because it hurts so bad. They're getting better but they're swollen. She couldn't get the bleeding to stop on 2 of the cuts in particular, so she took a spray bottle that was alcohol and RUBBED it into my cut up cuticles. When one of them was bleeding even worse (BECAUSE SHE RUBBED IT) she took ACRYLIC NAIL GLUE and threw it on the cut. I didn't realize what she was putting on until I smelled it and felt it dry off hard, as the glue does. My blood got on her hands without her having any gloves on. I was so uncomfortable as they asked me way too many personal questions and things about my personal life about how much money I should be making.. they told my fiancé that i cant do anything and also that he does nothing (personally attacking me and him). the workers were so rude to us. I endured a very very painful service I was burned and cut multiple times while receiving a full set. Kim was a very kind woman but she cut into my nails so bad with the drill bit I am now almost completely missing a finger nail, I had to soak off the acrylic because I was experiencing so much pain. Frustrating experience for my husband. He has gotten a handful of pedis because he works on his feet a lot. I called to make an appt and explained he doesn't want nail polish but wants a massage foot soak. I asked how much and was told $35. He got another one in town for $35 and loved - should have gone back there in hindsight. They said they gave him a menu but on the menu for basic it does talk about massage .. menus are not online... he said the nail tech spend no more than 30 seconds on each leg. No nail polish and focused on nails. Said the appt was 13 mins long. In my opinion this is not worth $35 and a total rip off. I called to explain and the owner was nice enough, but didn't offer me anything. I also mentioned I booked an appt for 11:30 and he didn't get seated until 11:47. He said the nail tech had an emergency. This is fine and I hope everything's ok- but why not explain that to him? It felt rushed and unsure what the $35 dollars was for. Will not be back. Needed to get my nails done before going to my brothers wedding in the cities! I called first to inquire about how much a gel mani pedi would be and the man on the phone was very nice and was describing where the salon was (after I said how I'm new to Mankato). When I arrived they were very welcoming and got started right away on my pedicure. A young man (I forget his name) did my services and was very easy to talk to and skilled. I was surprised that my total came to only $55 for both a gel manicure and pedicure! I would definitely recommend this nail salon to anyone in Mankato looking to get their nails done! read more

I've been to top nails twice now. The first for a pedicure and yesterday being the second for a manicure. Both times I received excellent service and both services turned out amazing. The staff is very friendly while being great at conversation. The only negative thing I would say would be over filing/being in one spot of the nail for too long with the drill. I was rushed the second I got in the door to sit dow, didn't even get to pick a color. I brought the colors and she asked which one and took them, then came back an made me pick again which was annoying. There was flies everywhere. My nails were poorly done, polish all on my skin. My feet are still needing a pedicure because they didn't barely even scrub them at all. She scalded my feet with burning hot water at first, then again with a burning hot towel. They talked the whole time and gave very poor massages and again, pretty much only my left foot and leg got any of that treatment. I hated this place and I will never go back. read more

The pedicure was nice but the acrylics were awful. First, the lady tore my old acrylics off without soaking them or anything, tearing my actual nails in the process. Then she started my new set. She cut my finger with some nail clippers (that did NOT look sterile), I don't think the tools got cleaned between clients, the nails themselves ended up super lumpy, and the gel polish chipped off in several places when I got home that night. I usually go to Infinity Nails, but my sister went to Top Nails when it first opened and loved it. I was really, really impressed -- the woman who did my manicure was such a perfectionist. She worked quickly, but was absolutely meticulous. I'm really, really impressed. I also had my eyebrows waxed (for just $10!). No one has ever been as attentive or meticulous to my eyebrows as this woman was. She easily spent 20 minutes trimming, waxing, combing and plucking my brows (this was while I was getting my nails done). She did a fantastic job. I also thought the salon was nice -- a large, open space so it wasn't overpowered by chemically nail polish smells. They gave me a punchcard, which is a better deal than Infinity, so I'll definitely be heading back to Top Nails. read more

My friends and I went here to get our acrylic nails taken off after getting them done here 3 weeks prior. My friend got hers taken off and repainted. I opted to just get them removed. They took their time and soaked my friends nails and removed them with a dremel. For mine they decided to cut them with a large nail clipper that hurt. And then they proceeded to pry off my nails with another acrylic tip. While my friends nails were left smooth and clean, mine are rough, unhealthy and look terrible. I would not even recommend this place to my worst enemy. I could have ripped my own nails off at home if that's what I wanted. Never go here. read more

Today, I visited Top nails salon and spa and I was honestly appalled by there service. I am new to Mankato so I was trying to find a new nail salon and tried it out. I got a gel manicure and I have never in my life have seen a worse nail job. They built up my nail so much it looks like I have globs of acrylic on my fingers. They are so thick and round I can barley look at them. I payed 40 dollars for a gel manicure that looks like a beginner did it. A lot of the staff seemed very unaware of how a nail salon works. Probably the worst nail experience i've ever had. Okay, cutest and best nails I have had but they lasted one day max and were the thinnest nails I have ever experienced. Reading the reviews it's sad. This store really doesn't seem to care if it hurts the customers(as no one ever said to me at any time "If you are in pain let me know). Instead, they filed my nail till I had little to nothing and felt pain. They absolutely did not ask if it was ok or not. This happened the second time I went on, I had to go back in a day after my set because two nails fell off in my SLEEP. The two nails they fixed were beyond the worst nails I have ever seen. Both weren't shaped nearly right, and she actually filed the side of the finished nail which left it not feeling smooth and pretty. The people at my work noticed my nails and even mentioned that this place is not the best to go to. I wish I got a refund or something. The man even WATCHED over my shoulder afterwards to see my review I had written. They liked the design of my nails and asked me to leave a review, but I couldn't be honest with a workers head over my shoulder. Disappointed to say the least. The first time I went here was the last time. I was getting my first acrylic fill done so I was a bit nervous. I told my technician that when she was drilling them down it was becoming painful but she said that was normal. I also asked to have them rounded but was told that they did not do that. I am only giving two stars because the other staff were kind and welcoming when I came in. This review is specifically for the one lady that did my nails. Her name on her certificate was Judy. I went in to get an acrylic gel set. First, as I was waiting for her she rudely said "you, come here" when it was my turn. She was not nice at all and was incredibly rude while speaking to me. The worst part is how aggressive she was with me. She was yanking my hand and fingers HARD. She was pulling so incredibly hard to the point where my hands were sore afterwards. When she was going over my nails with one of the electric tools, she kept getting my skin and was being yet again, hard and aggressive with the tool. It seemed as if she didn't care if she was hurting me at all. She also was filing my nails on the side but was mostly getting my skin, which hurt as well. She did it 5 times! The women before me was also very upset, as I briefly heard her complaining when she was done. I would not doubt it if she experienced the same thing. If you go here, do NOT get Judy. this nail salon if definitely one of the worst i've been to. i got gel nails there and they cut my nails before i could even tell them the length that i wanted. and me and my friend got cut atleast 2-3 times each from the lady filing so much in one spot and too close to our skin. also this lady made me feel more insecure about my nails then i was before. after she was done the nails were crooked, bumpy, and all uneven lengths! i don't recommend going to this salon because they f up your nails! read more
