We stopped here after going to Hanging Rock in the morning. I had a Kransky which is a fancy hot dog with chips (as in fish and chips - aka French Fries). I thought it was fine - a big meaty sausage in a split bun). The food is not gourmet food but it is filling and decent. The decor is very nice. The view is lovely. They serve the biggest scones I have ever seen with cream and jam. I think it's a great place to stop for tea. Here's the surprise. If you are old enough to remember the Seekers ("Georgy Girl") then you will recognize the painting on the wall of the Seekers. Lots of Seekers memorabilia on the wall for fans over by the Ladies room. And... if you are REALLY lucky like I was, you might run into Athol Guy, the bassist!!!! The very best part of this cafe is that the staff are super friendly and everyone there makes you feel welcome. Stop here for a non-touristy taste of Australia. Hang out with the locals and chat them up like I did. You will come away with a warm and happy feeling. read more

I had visited this cafe previously and was pleased with the results I was given. However, this time around, I was looking forward to a nice snack with my grandparents--but was unfortunately disappointed to a messy, unorganised interior. Dirty plates and cups were stacked up on tables, making it difficult to find somewhere to sit. I wold normally let this slide. But due to the amount of items that were scattered on almost every single table, I couldn't help but wonder, who was in charge? The drinks I ordered took around 10 minutes to be prepared, along with the extra 2 minutes--waiting for my scones. The food was nice, which is why I am not giving this place only 1 star. I am extremely disappointed to write this kind of review on a place that I once enjoyed. read more
Having spent the previous two hours hiking from the Macedon Railway Station up to the top of Mount Macedon it was time for me to sit down and have a rest. Fortunately this little cafe was here, though I would probably prefer to call it a tea house because its speciality was tea and scones. Mind you I ended up having a lemon muffin (and forgot to take a photo of it) while sitting on the balcony looking over the paddocks of rural Victoria. The cafe also includes a gallery, containing paintings no doubt painted by one of the owners (or local residents). The paintings all have a war theme, no doubt sticking with the memorial cross about a hundred meters away. Mind you, most of the people seem to come up here by car, which sort of defeats the purpose of going for a walk in the bush. read more
Contrary to it's name, this is more of a cafeteria than a 'tea room', complete with table number placards and plastic tablecloths that look like they don't get wiped down often enough. The lunch menu seems reasonable, but nothing special. Another disappointment is the view, which has the potential to be amazing (it is, after all, the 'top of the range') is in fact largely obscured by trees. My advice: go elsewhere. Actually, there's not really else to go up there. Just pack a lunch. read more

I'd give zero stars if I could. We were looking forward to tea and scones with amazing views. What we got instead was scones that were clearly a few days old and microwaved and a tired looking cafeteria. You'd be better off packing your own scones. We also had a fairly ordinary sandwich. This place had so much potential and disappointed us entirely. read more
