I'd heard that there were plenty of restaurants to choose from along Piper St & there were, but a bakery, the Little Swallow Cafe & one other eatery were the only places open on a Monday morning. So we found ourselves at the Little Swallow Cafe. It's a lovely little cafe, with a good breakfast / brunch menu. Not so many options that you feel overwhelmed by the menu but still plenty to choose from. Both of us were very happy with how our eggs were done, & we shared a sourdough toasty, yummy all round. I enjoyed my coffee & although my husband grumbled about the "girly" cup his tea was served in, I thought the mixed cup & saucer (local op shop finds I guess) served on a pretty little tray were a nice touch! Overall a recommend cafe for breakfast or a coffee to go.

Quaint cute little cafe tucked away just enough off the busy main street to offer a relaxed and comfortable cafe opportunity outside the city. Food and coffee were both wonderful, and anyone in the area or passing through would be well advised to stop by. I'm really glad I did.

I once wrote to a classmate friend from high school who had enlisted for the army. He took on what is known in the US as one of the toughest roles in the army- Army Rangers. During mess (meal times) he explained that when entering the mess hall to eat if you see your Sgt. Major sitting and still eating... Your fine and still have time to eat... If not... And he begins to stand up your in trouble! Worse if you haven't even sat down to eat and he/she stands up... You can forget eating! Well. It was all so quick! and like this! The food came before I sat. Nothing special to it cause it was dumped on the plate. And the second company and I were done someone (as if watching for our last bite) picked up the plate. And the water glasses were out so when I asked for one I had to get my own. The worker I asked forgot about me asking and my company hated that the glass was hot to begin with cause I pulled it from the top of their coffee maker machine. *note: Quiche Lorriane was very Oily! (Could have drained the bacon before putting into mix) anyway... Got In the car and started looking for other places to see. We drove into Sunbury. And some mystical force lead us back into another Jolly Miller in Sunbury.. (Because everything else carried an unattractive feel to it in price) A whopping 4.5stars with extra bling because unlike their counter part in Grisborne... They: 1- were much more oriented to service! 2- water glasses were not the problem AND- *they noted it before it was brought to their attention that there wasn't any pitchers of water, but they were bringing it over to our table. And it was taller! Cleaner and not hot! ((((LOL)))) 3- it didn't feel like boot camp And they even asked how we enjoyed everything (while still sitting down) It was a strange discovery of sorts seeing that i stopped into the same business (franchised) in two seperate towns. BIG DIFFERENCE!!! But the Tim Tam slice is quite the Sunbury/Jolly Miller experience.. They make up the 3.5 to the 1.0 star from their sibling Gisborne location. What a BIG DIFFERENCE between twins!

There are tables available on the footpath for prime people watching, in the rear courtyard for a little more privacy or inside with an industrial but still cosy feel. The waiter was wonderful! It was raining today and I felt like it was a nice summer day. Having worked for large, well known hospitality venues, the staff (including the kitchen) were incredible and first class. They knew the menu back to front, were extremely helpful in providing the right options for dietary requirements and constantly checked in with us despite full tables everywhere. Whilst we were waiting for food, out came all these "tasters" which were simply delicious. We were enjoying ourselves so much, we didn't even realise that we had waited a while for food. THEY CAME AND TOLD US, offering us a free drink each. They are too nice. And I haven't even started on our meals (which were great!!!!) If you run a restaurant, have a meal here and learn!!!!
