I am so disappointed with this company. It was like a Jekyll and Hyde experience. The solicitors who were attempting to get the business was courteous up front, stating they hardly if ever get any negative reviews. The guys who packed the items were gracious. Then once they had my money and might I add the price was eventually more than what was quoted. For the exorbitant price I received countless broken, lost, missing items and receiving other peoples items as well. On the day of delivery, I needed to speak with someone from the company, who I was told was the owner, she took my call and was so unexplainably rude and threatening towards me. I broke in tears of how she carried on. She spoke of how she was going to keep my belongings, even the workers were apologizing for her behavior towards me. This company is a complete scam. Received a quote of around $3,000 for a one bedroom apartment move. On the day of the move, an unmarked white truck shows up along with three guys with no uniforms, ID cards, or anything to suggest they work for the company. Interesting because one of the things the sales rep mentioned (multiple times) was the fact that they have their own trucks and don't use subcontractors. After calling and confirming with some extremely rude woman named Doris that these guys were legit, they packed up all my stuff and gave me a new estimate of $5,500. Why the difference? Because unlike every legit moving company that charges by weight, this company charges by volume and since they won't let you on to the truck to take measurements, they can say whatever they want as far as how much room your stuff is taking up on the truck. i was told my only two options were to lose my deposit and have them unload all my stuff onto the curb or pay up. Given it was a Sunday and there was no way I could find another option, I paid. It took a full week of calling every single day before I could talk to someone. When I did, I was told the difference from the estimate must be because I added items that I didn't list in my inventory for the quote, because I had 58 items on my inventory and they had 74 on theirs. When I looked at the copy I noted that the movers counted things like desk drawers, entertainment center shelves, etc. as separate items, whereas I did not. So one dresser became one dresser plus six drawers, etc. They even listed a yoga mat as a roll of carpeting! After pointing this out they "generously" (their word, not mine). offered me a $600 discount. Yeah fine. Then the fun part of waiting for my stuff. After 9 days I received a call that the movers would be arriving in two days. Waited around all day, no one calls, no one shows up, no one answers the phone at the office. Two days after that I finally get a call back saying the movers should arrive in 2-3 days and they'll call me the day before. Oh, and as a reminder, I need to have a postal money order or cash for the remainder of the money I owe, or they won't unload the truck. Postal money orders are non recoverable, non cancelable, non traceable. It's basically the same as cash, so now even more alarm bells are going off. I'm supposed to hand over $3,000 to them BEFORE I can even see my stuff? What if they just take the money and leave? In addition to being uncomfortable with the payment requirements, I also have a day job so when I asked if they could commit to a specific day or provide more than a days notice, I was told that if I wasn't available, then the contract said they had a MONTH to attempt redelivery. I couldn't wait that long so I ended up calling out sick so I could be there when they arrived. When the movers finally showed up, it's another unmarked truck with three subcontractors. They actually did a great job but when they were finished, I was asked to sign a ton of papers and I didn't really understand what I was agreeing to. A lot of it seemed like I was waiving my rights to make any claims of damage, missing items, etc. The moving guy called the office for me and I had the pleasure of speaking with Doris again who literally YELLED at me and said she didn't have time to answer my questions and hung up. I moved from Westchester County NY to New Bern, North Carolina. They quoted me a price on my list. I had 5 more small items and charged me almost double. I Had no choice, the truck was there and my house was packed. Movers came in, I had to pay half in cash, and the balance in cash when delivery. I should have told them to take a hike at that point. Delivery I was told 3 days. 5 days later they showed up at 10:00 PM! The 3 guys hardly spoke English. Had to pay them cash or they would not unload the furniture. After 3 hours, ( only 2 guys worked ) my 2 seater couch was ripped and stained with oil, My wood bookcase was broken in 20 Pieces. 2 credenzas were chipped and damaged. The dining room table was chipped on the legs. Had to file a claim which took 5 days until I got the right person. It has now been 97 days and I still have no check for the damage. Just to add to the mistake I made, I had to sign 8 pages of forms. They never explained the forms just sign here the head guy said. My mistake, I did. I signed 60 cents on the dollar for damages. Top rated moving van lines is one of the most unprofessional problematic moving companies I have ever used or worked with. I've moved multiple time from different states. From west coast to east coast and all points in between. The Sales rep Dave Ramsey grossly underestimated my move. He quoted me 678 cubic ft that would be needed to put my stuff on a truck and have it moved from New Jersey to Texas. The total cost of that move would have been $4,200. My stuff took up over 1,700 cubic feet. That's over a thousand cubic feet. How does a professional moving company under estimate that bad if it's not done intentionally? I feel as if he intentionally made the quote low to secure my deposit knowing that when the movers got to me place they would up charge me. They knew the stuff I had in my house would take up more than 678 cubic ft. After they picked up my stuff the cost of the move is almost $10,000. Nobody can underestimate by that much unless it's done INTENTIONALLY. They bad business practices and bad customer service. I would never used them because they will get you in the end. Please have patience in reading since this will give you a clear picture about the company and the kind of service they provide. I have been carrying my all furnitures in a vault of a different company for last five years in PA . All were purchased in the year 2017-18 and used for 1 year before vacating my NJ house. Cost of furniture may be around $10000. I was out of US for five years and came in TX last Oct. After landing here I decided to bring my furnitures for an emotional touch with my belongings. Financially it doesn't make sense. Now in bullets what this company did given below: 1. Quoted approx. $3200 to bring my stuffs (36 items). Item list I said at least 95% correct. Dave quoted price. Took my authorization to fulfill the deal. Took advance of $500. 2. Movers went to my storage after paying another $1500 and got the goods, complained what I said was not close to the quote. Quote was of 503 CFT and it should be 1300CFT. I need to pay $6900 in total. 3. When asked why you are charging high for additional items (Mattresses and box springs), their Manager Dorris said - initially what was said is not countable at all since it was an estimate. I reached to Dave, he told he doesn't belong to operation. I realized to be trapped. 4. I tried to negotiate further the exact statement Dorris made was: " if you don't listen to us , I am going to throw your stuff at the gate of the storage company where I picked those up". I asked Dorris how she can behave with a customer, no apology from her. At this point they had $2000 as advance and all my costly belongings. 5. The person who picked my stuff negotiated with me and finalized the movement with a discount of $1000 appx. 6. I paid another $2000 and asked them to move the truck. They confirmed within 4-5 days they will do that. 7. No news for almost 2 weeks. Asked Dorris, she told weather was not good, soon she will share the drivers details after the truck starts from NJ. Finally, I got it after 2-3 days while asked one more time. 8. Driver reached TX and came to my location. Complained that I was not picking my phone. Not sure why I was not getting ring from his phone but the text Messages. 9. Seeing my Apartment Driver told he needs to hire a small van to deliver stuff with additional $700. I agreed to that since I thought that this Movement has become a curse and I need to come out that at any cost. 10. Driver came with two persons who were very unskilled (but as human being they were good). Driver said I am driver not really good at arranging the furnitures. Since there were missing screws for beds he couldn't help more. Also declined to clean paper covers removed from furnitures during unwrapping. I accomplish that task and bed fixing with one of the guys he came with by paying additional $300. Do remember during movements many of my furnitures got damaged. 11. The driver told me to get $300 from moving company for not getting screws and the beds arrangements. He cannot help since he is a third party. 12. I texted Dorris saying if she can pay $300 back . She replied - today is Sunday, call office on next Monday. I replied I am not going to talk to them anymore, had enough. If they feel to pay they can pay. read more

Absolutely would not recommend. Customer service was horrible. Everyone I worked with was rude and non-committal. Held up delivery until I paid almost twice as much as contracted for. Many broken/damaged items. This company is a total racket. They underquote you by under-estimating how much space your items will take up and then charging more because they say you ended up having more volume. I was originally quoted $3,400 and ended up paying $6,500. They also required most of the payment to be via cash or USPS money order, which is BS and very shady. My long-distance move was supposed to include 30 days free storage. However, they contacted me on a Saturday night telling me they would deliver my items on Sunday, and when I said I needed more time to get "no parking" street permits, they refused to move the date: now or never. Sure enough, when they arrived there was nowhere good for them to park, and the driver was mad at me. Horribly unorganized, rude, and unprofessional. Similar to other reviewers, when I got a quote from them, they mentioned multiple times about their own trucks and that they don't use subcontractors, but that is a complete lie. Everyone who I worked with in person was a sub- or sub-sub contractor. The kids who did the actual loading and unloading were actually great - totally polite, professional, took good care of my belongings, etc. Unfortunately I fear that most of my money went to the scammers at the head of this company instead of to the very good contracted workers. My complaints are similar to the other 1 star reviews: -Your items will be damaged. -the insurance that they offer at no additional cost in no way covers the value of your items. -The company does not own their own trucks/have their own workers despite what the sales representative says who provides you with a quote -Do not believe the quoted price they will charge You for more money upon pick up and deliver. The quote is strategically low to entice you and is purposely called a quote (even though it is presented as otherwise) so they can charge more in cash upon pick up/deliver. -wait time to receive your items will be 2 a 3x longer than what was originally expected. They showed up at 8 am and did not stop until the sun was almost down, no complaining. I had to beg them to stop and have a lunch break. I contracted with Authority Moving Experts, who sub-contracted to Top Rated Moving Van Lines LLC for the loading and transport of my family's belongings from Virginia to Georgia. The experience started with glowing assurances that I was in good hands. Other than showing up on the day on which we agreed to load up, NONE of the promises were kept. The contracted price increased by almost 60 percent (roughly $6,500 to more than $10,300) moments after the team arrived at my home with a truck half the size needed for a 4-bedroom, single-family home. The loading mechanism on the truck malfunctioned, so they borrowed my tools to "fix" it. Those tools and hundreds of others were then stolen during the move. More than one item of furniture was completely destroyed or damaged, and some items just never arrived. The forms and descriptions used to document everything being moved are vague, at best. Deception and thievery dominated this move. If you trust either one of these companies with your belongings and peace of mind, you are almost certain to be disappointed. He will brag that they own 46 trucks and that is a good thing. Let me tell you. It is all BS. By the time my mothers furniture got from Massachusetts to Missouri, it had changed companies at least 3 times. They showed up with a smaller truck here for pick up and delivered with a 18foof truck. This can also be an issue at drop off. Because the delivery truck did not wanted to drive the truck to the final destination. ( He was yelling at my mother and threatening not to drop off the furniture.) We har to pay $350 more for them to rent a Uhall to bring the furniture to the house or else they wore not going to deliver. Not to mention that at the time of pick up, They OVER CHARGED ME $740. At this point they OVER CHARGED $1,090. BTW. Once the sale is finished. Our friend Dennis does not want to speak anymore. He will give you a number to call 973-494-5624 ( office ) You will meet a very angry woman. She is mean and if you talk back to her. She will tell you to SHUT UP. Before I forget. Don't pay any money to this company. Even if you've already paid the deposit by the time you read this, I strongly suggest you forfeit it and find another company. They tried to charge me 20% more when loading my packages, claiming they exceeded the contracted size. I have 28 boxes, and after manually measuring them, I am absolutely certain they are less than half of the contracted size. After negotiating, they charged me 10% more. My nightmare began when my boxes were loaded in NJ and stayed in their warehouse for two weeks, missing the unloading date specified in the contract. There have been no updates or estimated delivery dates. I've called five times, and each time the staff promised to check and call me back the next day, but I never heard back. Today, the staff member who answered was extremely rude and lied about the contract, insisting it stated 30 days when I have it right in front of me saying 21 days. The management (Doris) was very rude and wasn't helpful at all. The 1st driver called and said they would be here in 2hrs, nvr showed never called. I had to call 3 times to find his truck broke down. Was then good someone would come the next day and again no one showed and never called. Sent several emails and was only responding to vaguely. Finally I get a driver 4 days later and 1 person shows up to off load all my stuff. I chose Top Rated Moving Van Lines only because it is in Passaic, NJ, and Dave Ramsey was helpful throughout the process. When the movers came to my location, I expected a surcharge. (It seems to be the industry norm, unfortunately.) They were, however, friendly and professional, and wrapped everything to my request. An hour after they took things away, I called Dave to delay my first available date of delivery by about 4 days. He transferred me to the dispatch department and they said fine. Unfortunately, the truck arrived according to the original schedule, so my request was not quite honored. Again, the truck driver and the movers were friendly and professional. They wanted to charge additional "fees" because they felt they were inconvenienced and asked how much money my friend had in her account. Her stuff is ruined, some broken, and the paperwork they left her as a receipt said they only charged her $775 and the added fee was $75.... how does this equal to $1100? Worst Moving experience i have ever had. We moved 4 bulk items and 30 boxes 800 miles. It showed up 5 days late and with 2 of the bulk items not on the truck and 1 of the bulk items missing parts. WARNING!! I had a deeply troubling experience with Top Rated Moving Van Lines and concerned others will fall in the trap of the bait and switch salesmanship. Despite moving cross country three times, I've never faced such poor service. My home sustained more damage than ever before, and the packing was both careless and wasteful (boxes not filled, single items in large wardrobe boxes, not a single item on a hanger hung, houseplants still in the pot with dirty tossed in on top of belongings, to name only a few). My main issue is not just the treatment of my belongings but the fraud. I was quoted for 3,000 cubic feet from NY to UT. We did a walk through before anything was packed but was never given any indication of another price estimate. After the items were packed, I was pressured to sign all documents, and an updated cost stating the load had increased to 6,500 cubic feet, doubling my cost. I was served a document to sign stating in ALL CAPS on the page "TO BE SIGNED PRIOR TO THE HOUSEHOLD GOODS BEING LOADED INTO THE TRUCK" I refused to sign it, even tore it in half although they took it. At the time the corporate dispatcher allowed a pittance of a discount but refused to address the overcharge. Upon delivery, the 53' tractor trailer was 90% full, and the driver claimed it could hold only 4,000 cubic feet. I refused to sign the receipt until I could speak with the management, and they left with unsigned documents. Management has refused to communicate beyond one comment that I should get a lawyer and that they in fact DID have signed (not by me). This has been devastating to my family as we are not prepared to pay this cost and we are losing so many of our possessions to damage and mistreatment. Pictures can be provided upon request. I made a move from Maryland to Texas in January. I finalized everything with Dave who quoted me at $1967. Moving company shows up. Charged me over $1000 based off the "size of my storage unit" not by the amount of items as discussed by Dave. (Storage unit was not full). My items arrived in Texas about 4 days after. I was charged more again because the truck couldn't "fit". As i began unpacking in my new home. MY SONS TV MISSING, MY QUEEN MATTRESSES DESTROYED, POWER TOOLS MISSING OUT OF MY TOOL BOX, MULTIPLE SNEAKERS MISSING OUT OF MY SHOE TOTE, MY RING LIGHT (which i use for my business) GONE! Spoke with the "claims department who offered $75!!!! THATS A COMPLETE JOKE. I SOENT WELL OVER $2000 more than quoted and had broken and stolen property. This is the type of moving company you hear horror stories about. They wouldn't come to fo an in person estimate. Instead, they based their estimate on two other estimates I had. Both included full insurance. They hid the fact they did not include insurance with their estimate. My house was packed up and delivered down to Florida 3 weeks after it was picked up. A large amount of stuff was missing or broken. They hid behind the LLC and denied any knowledge of the items that were missing. When my stuff was delivered they ghosted me I did not respond to my calls. Doris, the owner said deal with it and fill out a claim. I did that in addition I questioned and disputed the credit card charge. They finally decided to answer me when they thought they were going to lose their money. I was told if I dropped my claim they would return all of my stuff to me. I told them return the stuff first and I'll drop the claim. Suddenly William or Daniel or whatever name he's going by this week realized I wasn't backing down so he suddenly decided he didn't have my stuff even though the gentleman who actually delivered the stuff to my house was on the phone with someone at the warehouse in which my stuff was repackaged in. Worst moving company we have ever dealt with. Total scam artists, completely unprofessional, and definitions of scum. Estimates they give are a joke, they up charge you thousands of dollars for the items you already told them about moving. They also tell you about the up-charge after all of your items are loaded on their truck. Everyone we dealt with was the definition of unprofessional. Do not use this company ever. Multiple expensive high value items damaged upon delivery. None of our belongings were cared for during the move. I totally agree with the other reviews. We used Top Rated Moving to move from NJ to Texas. Begins with Tony going over all items included in the move then gives estimate. Sure enough when the guys are loading the truck we are over our limit and need to pay $550 more or they will remove items from truck. They've got you and they know it. Once in Texas the driver calls to tell us the truck cannot fit down the street and they were parked behind Krogers Grocery and we needed to get a uhaul and meet them to get our stuff. I asked when he realized the truck wouldn't fit and he said 2 days prior. Whey would he not tell me until the last minute? By the way, there was an 18 wheeler on our street so he could have driven on the street but he chose not to. They loaded our items into the haul and that was it. We were left to move it. I have been calling since this happened and I spoke to Tina who kept asking if I would call back. It is now 18 days later and I just hung up the phone with them. They were yelling and telling me that I chose to get the haul. I am a 58 year old woman. I don't think I would chose to meet them with a uhaul in a parking lot to get my furniture. I want compensation for what they did not deliver on. They hung up on me and now I am going to follow through with a lawyer and contact The Better Business Bureau.. PLEASE DO NOT USE THESE PEOPLE!!! I dont usually take time to post reviews bit i felt like Top Rated and their crew deserved the 5 minutes of my time it took to do this. Friendly, professional, outstanding customer service. I will never look for another moving company again. They packed my entire home and moved us all in one day. Couldn't have asked for more. You get what you pay for. I got lower prices from the website I found top rated moving on.byt they all seemed sketchy and put so much pressure on me. I will say that I had a couple hiccups with the delivery because the building did not want to accommodate their truck on the day they arrived, but the driver rescheduled and figured it out with me. Top notch service. Not rude and aggressive like many other movers I've dealt with in the past. I hired Top Rated to move my elderly mother down to Florida, she is 88 years old and cannot pack or do anything like that. The sales rep Ben was so nice from every conversation and the most thorough person, I got atleast 30 phone calls about this. These guys were on time, packed all her boxes and antique collectibles, and charged a fair rate. Delivery was done in just over a week, we were anticipating 10 days and they got there quickly.. I would recommend them to anyone, they were curtious to my mom, did a great job, and did not try to rip off a senior like what you hear about these days. this company lied about everything. they gave me a quote and then when they showed up they wanted to charge 600.00 more than what I was quoted. they say 3-5 days for delivery and it's actually up to 3 weeks for delivery. their agent Ben Miller will tell you anything to get you to book with them but run far away from this company. they are scammers. learn from my mistake read more

I won't even give them a star First off when Hector came with the others he stated I would be over the cubic feet and said if I gave him $200.00 for his men he would fix it so I did because I couldn't afford the 3000 he was quoting me that would be my finale cost. They were to deliver it the 16th of November they moved me on the 28 of October then when they were finally on thier November 22 they said their truck was to big and was going to charge me another 350.00 my family said they'd meet them out front of park to unload hours later they said they broke down and was waiting for fix hours later they said they had to put my stuff in storage until I came back from holiday. Well the Monday after I got back it finally came it was 7pm they only had 1 man to unload and set up thank god my family was there. On,12/14/2022I contracted with Bill Butler of Top Rated Moving Van Lines LLC for a move from NYC to San Bernandino CA. First I was quoted a price of $2427.73.When I told Mr. Butler the items that I was moving included boxes, storage bags,3 TVs ,an ottoman, two ACs. He determined that I needed more space. The price then went to$3783.93.At pickup the driver stated that I used more space and wrote a 3rd contract totaling $5516.43.I had already paid $1413.28 and $1100 at pickup.I called Mr. Butler who told me to call Doris. Doris in turn said that I had to speak to a Michael Taylor. I spoke to Mr. Taylor and explained to him that the reason I was calling was because the driver called me to say that delivery was to be on Sunday and that they were expecting $3103 that I do not have. He said to pay the $3103 or accept 99 of the 122 items to honor the second contract and that the remaining items would be put in storage. When I attempted to call him back, he had gone for the day. I explained to another person, Ben what was happening. Next, I got a call from a not pleasant woman stating that if I didn't have the $3103 that my items would be put in storage and added $1500 for re delivery. Making the total $4500.Their contract states 30Day free storage and free re delivery. She then stated that my things will be auctioned off in two weeks. ×I need help! When my moving crew was running a little late they called and let me know and made up for it with hard work. I completely trust them to handle my personal items now and if I ever move again. Let me just just start off by saying I was beyond skeptical of using any moving company especially after reading some of the reviews I had seen . The whole process was so stressful I had put my information on a website got so many calls and texts everyone was telling me different things . Most people were so rude and just wanted me to give them money over the phone immediately it all just felt like on big scam. I had been contacted by so many people I just don't know who or what to believe. Then I talked with Michael Scott from Top Rated moving Van lInes he was beyond patient .
