I bought it and I didn't notice this until I got home, but the item I chose got swapped by the clerk since I looked down and was getting ready to pay on my phone. I got extremely disappointed after noticing the switch after opening the item that it made my day sad. Clerk was a long black-haired chick who tied her hair up, skinny, probably 5'4'' with glasses. I know this is petty, but I was really upset and disappointed. She clearly wanted the one I chose, but knew she couldn't buy until probably after the shift. To all the shoppers there, watch your boxes/gatchapon from the clerk who may switch it out. Mind you, this is my first time experiencing such a thing that happened and I've shopped there so many times, but nothing like that has ever happened.

The time of my visit was during Chris Columbus weekend. I took the commuter train in from Newburyport to North Station and then take the T to Broadway and walk all the way there. By the time I got there it was well after 11pm and the door was locked and had a sign that said be back in a few, turned out to be 30 minutes. Had a decent conversation with a local guy that waited with me there saying the gal Mary or something just lived up the street and she'd probably be there real soon. When the lady did show up didn't apologize or anything which is fine, I really wanted to get something from Southie. Which would be made from there and was also Irish. Sadly, nothing there was from the area. Most of the stuff you'd find in most of the Irish stores in the area. The shirts that had Southie on them were very generic. I did find a bin on the floor near the register that had some Irish jerseys and was marked 35 dollars on the front of the bin. I saw a Guinnes soccer jersey and thought okay I'll go with that, ended up being 50 dollars. At this point didn't care anymore and fine.. the money is going to keep it local and all so here ya go. So, it may not have been the greatest experiences I might just ask for a place that is called Southies Own, to sell some local stuff that matches the theme of the store.

I mean a store dedicated to Harry Potter -- come on?!? And what I found wasn't some corporate, merch-filled spot but something that seemed to have grown out of the love the owner has for all things HP. This small shop includes photos and facts about the cast, mixed in with a fun assortment of items. In particular, I liked the Letter from Hogwarts wallet and items related to each of the Hogwarts houses. (This girl is a proud Ravenclaw, in case you were wondering). I ended up buying my kids plastic pens that look like quills. The owner was talking enthusiastically to all who entered, and when I told him that it was my birthday, he said he had something extra special for me and gave me my own, gold laminated train ticket from London to Hogwarts. I was thoroughly charmed by The Fairy Shop, even without the use of spells. ;-) A must-visit for any Harry Potter fans.
