Now, I'm not exactly a noob when it comes to ink, having had one for over 10 years, but when it came time to add a couple to honor my late wife, Toppers seemed to be the place to go. Ben did a great job explaining their process and, fortunately, his schedule was open when I decided to walk in. I emailed him a file with my art ideas, one being an actual handwriting sample from my wife and he wasted little time getting started. Honestly, the whole process was painless (Yeah, I know, tattoos painless? Wtf?) but had I not had a few small pieces being worked on and had something more complex, I might have gone to sleep on the chair. I went here for two piercings, two separate occasions. The first time, I went to get my Forward Helix. The piercer was a little standoffish, but whatever. Her young son kept running around the piercing area. jumping up in the chairs, touching things, etc... I'm sorry, but that is NOT sanitary. She told me that, unfortunately, she didn't have a standard barbell to put in as jewelry, and then 'found' one right before I was about to leave. The next few days after the piercing, my ear swelled up HUGE (I have several piercings, so I am no stranger to the healing process and after care) and my ear turned blood red and hot to the touch with the swelling the size of an acorn. By the fourth day,my ear was completely infected. I took out the jewelry, and within a day it tarnished and rusted- so they're piercing with FAKE jewlery. And it turns out... my ear was pierced with was a LIP barbell JEWELRY- it was too small to allow natural swelling around the piercing. This happened AGAIN with a regular cartilage piercing. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE WHATSOEVER. Will NEVER be back! read more

**Review of artist Ben Starks while guesting in the Clarksville, TN location** I happened to be in Clarksville for a wedding (I'm from VA) and decided to go ahead and get my first tattoo. I stopped in without an appointment on a Monday afternoon at Topper's and was fortunate to meet Ben Starks. Ben is usually at Topper's in Bowling Green, KY, but was doing a guest spot in Clarksville. About the shop (Clarksville): Each station looked clean and the shop was quiet (when I was there). About Ben: Very talented artist. Took the time to look at my sketch and discussed his ideas with me. Drew a more "tattoo-friendly" version of my design and quoted me an excellent price. He's an honest and down-to-earth guy, who shared a lot about himself while tattooing me and made me feel incredibly comfortable. Pricing/Quality: Very fair--hourly rate was about $100. My husband got a small tat on his calf for $80. Quality of Ben's work definitely exceeded my expectations. I am constantly getting compliments on my ink when it's visible. Looks like it has always been a part of me. I definitely want to get some work from Ben in the future if our paths cross again. read more

I have went to the shop multiple times for one artist Spencer. He is absolutely amazing but however, his boss/owner of the shop is hateful and very unprofessional. I needed a document showing that I came to a shop for a tattoo so that I could be a doner for blood and plasma the donor center only needed a copy stating that I had went there on that date. That is it. But he is too good to give his documents out that I signed that are my documents. It's not like I was asking for someone else's, but he couldn't do that, so I will no longer be going back there his artist or one of them is losing a customer a very good one and they will be losing more customers because they don't deserve the business. If I can't get health stuff done because of him it makes no sense like I said he was very hateful. Mind you I'm only 19 years old and if I wasn't raised right, I would've probably been to jail, but concluding this, I don't ever recommend going there. Something is sketchy because all I need is a documentation stating that I came to a shop. it shouldn't get any stars at all. read more

DO. NOT. GO HERE. Every single person I know who has gotten a tattoo here, has gotten the lowest skill quality work. It seems like every tattoo that comes out of toppers is the first tattoo the artist has ever done. Inconsistent. It looks like prison scratch work. Ben would probably be the only decent one there. Personally, I have (unfortunately) gotten two piercings from this place. The first time, the wrong kind of jewelry was used. (A lip ring in a forward helix???) And my ear quickly became infected. I went back for a simple cartilage piercing, and the same thing happened, IMMEDIATELY infected. So I take the jewelry out, let it heal, and went to Age of Reason to get it re-pierced. The jewelry that toppers pierced me with, tarnished. It turned green and rusted, so the jewelry they use is NOT surgical steel. read more

You just can't go to any tattoo place and expect a good tattoo..trust me!!! toppers had to fix a complete mess up that another tattoo artist did.. believe me The person that messed it up was apparently well known in bg.. thank Goodness for toppers who made my tattoo look like an awesome tattoo instead of the messed of 3 year old drawing the other tattoo shop did!! Got a conch piercing done today, and was very happy with the results. The whole crew was very nice and welcoming, and the shop was super eclectic while still being very clean. Brought my wife in for some work on a tattoo that she had recently got from a "highly" reviewed shop that gave her some real bad line work, poor design and also outrageously over priced. Went back to have them touch it up and we were basically pushed out of the door. Came to Toppers and was floored by the service. Top took a picture made some drawings and made a terrible tattoo into a beautiful work of art that my wife is very pleased with. Words can not describe how professional the entire staff was. And the service was amazing. Toppers is the only place to get a professional job and very resonable price. Hats off to you Top and your entire staff.
