I was so excited to see Torchy's open up in Tyler. We love the Shepherd location in Houston but don't make it much bc of parking and seating. There is so much seating here! I just don't see what the big hype is about this place first off the cashier lady wasn't very friendly nor helpful with ordering I was confused then I finally figured out how to order it was me and my husband it was 28.00 for a burrito two tacos beans and rice and queso that's to expensive so we got our drinks and I just let it go about the price being so high it wasn't hard to find a seat but every single booth was dirty I finally found one ducked off in the corner then we got our food my tacos were cold I sent them back took another 15 minutes to get them back about that time hubby was done with his food so I just got them Togo. Queso was ok rice and beans were nasty. Just very disappointed with this visit probably won't be returning. read more

We had a variety of breakfast and non breakfast tacos. Ranch hand was excellent as was the migas. Traditional potato egg and cheese was great; flavorful and fresh. The chicken fajita was good but not as flavorful as the steak but when you add a little of he Roja salsa it kicks it up just that needed extra notch. We will be back to try more!!! read more

Amazing tacos. Horrible service. I've been there probably 5 or 6 times, and every single time I've encountered this 1 cashier, she is rude. The last time i went, the manager was standing at the register with her, participating in inappropriate conversation. My order was wrong once, they forgot avocado. I'll continue to go for the delicious tacos. Rest assured i will not tolerate someone being rude and will not hesitate to write her name down and file a complaint from here on out. read more

This is what you would call "gourmet" tacos. Every combination I have had does not disappoint. Look out of the Taco of the Month to try something new. The queso is also delicious, but compared to other taco joints, I will pass on the corn. If you have had Torchy's in other cities, this one is just as good. read more

Extremely overpriced-- the guacamole has way too many onions (in my opinion). The atmosphere is strange, it's open but dim lighting, awkward ordering system. The manager or cashier, wasn't sure what position, reeked of marijuana-- shouldn't employees be in their right minds during work hours? Outdoor isn't covered enough, except with small coverings above the table. If I come back it will only be for the margaritas! And only during their happy hour, otherwise $6.50 for a glass the size of my hand is a little much. read more

So happy that Tyler has a Torchy's now. Great place to eat tacos that are more than just plain tex mex stuff. The Trailer Park and the Brushfire are my two favorites. The chicken fajita taco is also quite tasty. Some of the best queso available. Friendly staff. Even if they are busy there isn't a long wait for the food. We are originally from Austin and were so excited to introduce one of our friends to Torchy's here in Tyler. We drove all the way from Daingerfield just to visit Torchy's because we loved it so much in Austin. Unfortunately, we didn't get to give him the experience we had hoped. The food was decent, but the service was absolutely TERRIBLE. One person in particular. He was a very tall, skinny younger man with brown hair. He was the one who brought our food out. My friend asked for some more chips and he, with a rude tone and attitude, said, "uh yeah as soon as I finish handing the rest of your food out to you." My friend didn't respond. The man was finishing handing out our food and my friend (who, let me remind you, had never been to Torchys and didn't know the portion sizes are rather large) said, "wow, that's a lot of food," to which the man replied, an affirmative, "yep." This whole situation ruined the whole experience and the taste in food didn't nearly make up for the rudeness. No one in the restaurant was smiling, or seemed to have the slightest idea what customer service even is. There is something VERY wrong going on. If I am going to pay $50 for some food, I feel we deserve at least a smile. read more

Decided to take my girls to dinner after an exhaustive and rainy day spent at UT Tyler. Counter staff was friendly, but not overly helpful in explaining the menu OR getting the order right when we did order. The child's menu offers a quesadilla which is one half of a small tortilla cut in 2 triangles. We asked an employee for the sliced avocado she was supposed to receive as well and he basically said I'd have to go through the line again and reorder. BUT IT WAS PART OF THE INITIAL MEAL WE HAD ALREADY PAID FOR!!!! He then just walked away. No avocado slice ever to be seen. And no apologies from a single soul that the order was messed up. The tacos were served cold. The chips and queso had chips that looked to be the ones found at the bottom of the bag. You know the ones. Small in size. No dipping function whatsoever. The tacos were so-so. Not sure what the hype is all about. We had four tacos and two drinks. $35. Way too pricey for mediocre food and no service when you get your food. Their soft drinks were weird. Why have such weird choices and not give us what we want? Dr. Pepper, Diet Coke, etc. No win here. Doesn't surprise me. Tyler itself has been a bit of a disappointment in the customer service area. Loved the guacamole..it is absolutely to die for! You must be a fan of spice though if you are going to try it for yourself. I was there the first few weeks it opened so the wait was long, however, the staff made a point to make sure we had all of our need met. The guacamole definitely out shined anything else I ordered so I guess I'm going to have to return and make a note of which tacos I had. I've heard of Torchy's Tacos before but this was the first time I had any of their food. I pick the first item on the menu, The Green Chile Pork, and I have to say, it's the best taco I've ever had!
