I'm very confused by the negative reviews. I went there for a mild throat issue but everyone was incredible. The staff was patient with me when booking my appointment and I was warned by phone, email, and in-person that the wait would be long. I spoke briefly to at least 3 different people and all of them were nice. Dr. Tam was also surprisingly great. I had read the reviews before going so I expected an old asshole with a god complex, and he was not even close. He was super chill, friendly, and he sort of has a coolness about him that I wasn't expecting from a doctor lol. The guy is also super fit, so I went to lift some weights after my appointment. I saw Dr Irvine back in December for an issue with my ears. He seemed pleasant enough but dismissive. I insisted on at least having an MRI and he sent in the referral. Originally he put on the form that it was not urgent so was scheduled for April 2025. I phoned myself and got an appointment for the MRI in February. Was told after the MRI that results would be sent to the doctor within 5 business days. I have been phoning the ENT CLINIC for over 2 weeks and get no answers to the telephone. It just rings and rings. Finally sent an email so will see if they answer that. Then I phoned the hospital to ask and they told me that the results were sent 2 days after my test! In hindsight, I don't believe Dr. Irvine takes some patients seriously. My first instinct that he is dismissive seems t be right. Do not recommend him. read more

They overbook on purpose to cycle through as many people as possible. You are greeted by a sign saying there will be at least 60 min wait before you even check in. The reception desk confirmed with a smirk that it would be over 60 min wait. Left. Will try another office. Doctors that operate like this usually want to cycle through as many as possible for $$. Alright, i'm writing a review because honestly after reading the reviews on here, I almost cancelled my appointment there today. Finding an ENT doc in T.O. is impossible - well, not impossible, but most places have a wait of at least 8-10 weeks. These people got me in 2 days after I emailed the referral from my doc (always easier for me to find a place faster when I look). I'll say this, the email communications with them - yea, not the most well-mannered email, but whatever, i got in. And in the email, it said 'be prepared to be there for at least 2 hours'. My appt was at 10am. I got there on time and asked how long the wait would be. I had an app't with someone named Dr. Tam. They told me, at least 2 people ahead of you. Fine, I said, i'll come back in 30-40? they said sure. I went two doors down, got a mani/pedi (legit). Eventually saw Dr. Tam. This doctor, (an ENT), super social friendly guy. I actually said to him "i was a bit nervous from all the horrendous google reviews" - he acknowledged there's often a long wait, but at the same time, it's so easy to get in to see him. He sat down, looked at my referral, was reading it with me, and I said 'i'll explain it all to you' - he listened, we chatted, he did an exam, and I also raised a second issue that he handled. I also told him 'i expected you to be some serious dude who fastracks people based on reviews of you' (I actually said that to him at the end of the appt) - we both laughed. Honestly - it was an excellent experience. I see a lot of docs and specialists and he was so chill, friendly, professional, and most importantly, knowledgeable. Was glad. I'd recommend for sure. I will say this. I'm serious when I said I almost cancelled my appointment. I thought I was going to go to some shady place. I'm glad I went. It's 2024, I guess everyone tends to complain when they have to wait - i knew i would, i read the reviews, and im sure they overbook. No doubt. However, I was prepared for it, and I had no complaints. I'd go back in a heartbeat. 2 days to see an ENT after emailing the referral... .. seriously!! I do not work for this clinic or in this profession. I never had been there before. I just had sent the referral to about 5-6 ENT's when I got it, and they were the first to get back. read more

Are the doctors incompetent or it just the front office? Not sure, but I can't get questions answered, can't get a call back, and so I can't get test results; TWO MONTHS after the test occurred. Sure hope I don't have anything serious wrong with me... I'll ask my GP for a referral to a competent ENT. Recommend that you don't waste your time with this business. read more

They need to learn how to schedule appts. First of all it took over 2 months to get my first appt. My doctor sent in a referral and i tried to call and email in for 2 months and finally got though and i got an appointment the next week. I didnt have an issue with waiting for that appt or the tests but the follow up i did. They rescheduled 2 times on me and refused to do a phone appt. When i did show up in person they said i was booked the following week., The only problem i had booked a trip out of the country for then so there was no way i would book it. at this point i am fed up and will discuss the results with my gp and see someone else if needed. read more

I went to this clinic, the doctor was fine, but referred me for an MRI because of a hearing issue and to rule out anything more serious. I never received an appointment for the MRI, and after several months I called them and the desk person just told me to call the MRI centre myself. After seeing all these comments I'm pretty sure they did not send the referral at all, as the MRI place is very reputable. Also this is in keeping with their behaviour since, as my GP sent them another referral so I could get a follow-up and to find out about the MRI, and they NEVER called me to book an appointment (Maybe front desk person is afraid that the doctor will see that the MRI referral was never sent). My GP has since sent another referral, and I still haven't heard from them. After reading these reviews, which fit with my previous experience - I will be asking my GP for a referral to another ENT. AVOID THIS PLACE if you can, they clearly have not bothered to improve their administrative support, nor their patient care. read more

I'm adding an update - since a couple of people have contacted me directly with the same question. My experience there wasn't great, you have the advantage of having a heads up from Yelp. Tell whichever doctor that you have that it's your first visit there - advocate for yourself and request that they tell you a) what they are about to do to you before you do it, and b) tell you about what is typically felt AFTER an examination - could there be any discomfort that lingers. Good luck to all! I've gone to St. Michael's since, and a speech language pathologist gave me the same examination. It was still unpleasant, however better in that I knew what to expect and the pathologist was patient and understanding in dealing with me. read more

Worst experience ever. Waited just under 2 hours and ended up walking out without seeing a doctor. Ridiculous we even waited more than 30 mins. Learn to manage your appointment scheduling or at least give people a heads up when they book so they can plan to be there for several hours. Our time is just a valuable. read more

Another update~ got ANOTHER call from Toronto Head and Neck Clinic this week pestering us to come in for another appt. Again we never booked ANOTHER appt. My husband once again had to tell the disorganized desk staff that he is under the care of another dr. Unreal. read more

There is no shortage of ENT clinics in the city of Toronto and it amazes me that certain doctors still behave this way. I had an appointment booked first thing when the clinic opened on A Monday morning and the doctor didn't even show up at the clinic until 9am leaving me to sit in a waiting room for over 30 minutes. I'm they felt no remorse and treated me like a number. Would strongly recommend NOT visiting this clinic and opting for one that is more professional and appreciates their patients time. This was inexcusable conduct and really unfair behaviour. It's 2021 and this shouldn't still be occurring. PATIENTS BEWARE! read more

Even though I positively hate Yelp, the mafia of the internet, I wanted to add a review of the clinic because of the mostly bad reviews here. There's only one reason I nicked a star and it was because of them only accepting cash ($250) for non-Canadian visits. I spent 8 weeks in Toronto without ever needing to get cash. Also, parking. There is a public lot across the street behind the buildings, but it's usually full. But the staff was helpful and friendly (even when I described them as "Medieval Times" for not having a credit card machine), wait for my appt very minimal, and Dr Tam was thorough in accessing and providing info on my condition. If you're waiting for a referral, be sure to call THEM. The appt rep is super busy, so be patient about getting through. My email was answered promptly though. read more

Saw Dr. Sands as I was referred to him by a walk-in Clinic Dr. as I have read in many other posts - please stay away from this place- if you can find a different Dr. or get a referral to another ENT I would! He was rude! and very mean, he offended me probably 4-5 times during my visit. Didn't want to listen to me and how I was explaining my issue- told me I was making it up and to just stop it! Very rude man- its the young new doctor mentality- dont listen to your patients do what you feel is right nonsense. Awful place to go to read more

They have some administration issues. Not very responsive and they lost my initial referral. Be prepared for the possibility of clerical errors. I did not have any major issue with the doctor. In general, when dealing with anything government related or OHIP-paid always be polite, friendly and appreciative with the staff. Grovel if necessary. You need them more than they need you. read more

I called twice and spoke with two people, and sent an email as requested after following up on my referral. Never even bothered to contact me back after they clearly never submitted my referral in the first place. This after rushing me out the door at close. Obviously just in it to see as many patients as possible to get the billings. He was clearly exhausted by the time i got in to see him after a 2 hour wait, so I wasn't surprised that he probably didn't even remember to submit the referral. Furthermore, he was very dismissive and didn't really want to hear what I had to say. There should be a limit in Ontario as well for the number of patients a doctor can see in one day for this very reason. The worst! read more

Took my 3month old here to Dr. Tam because we had just learned that morning that he had hearing loss in both ears. Dr.Tam looked in only his left ear, was annoyed that I needed his signature on a form for my son's hearing aid (which also cost $25 cash for the sig). Told me it was "extremely odd" for a baby to having hearing loss (which is great to hear with a newborn). He referred us to our local hospital for an MRI. Fast forward 2 months and we show up to our MRI and the hospital doesn't do MRIs on children under 7. (The hospital also dropped the ball). I feel an ENT seeing children should have know that our only option was Sick Kids in the city. Extremely let down by our whole experience. read more

TL;DR: Expect disinterest and ineptitude from all staff at this clinic. For the sake of your sanity and health, avoid them at all cost. My doctor referred me to this clinic in September 2018, and I got an appointment in mid-November. When seen by Dr. Tam, he seemed generally disinterested in my medical concerns. After giving me his diagnosis, he seemed to think that was all he needed to say. He had to be asked for treatment options, to which he initially responded that I could "just live with it." Fortunately, he was too busy to operate and referred me to another ENT. To seemingly ensure that the referral was sent, I spoke to the secretary at the desk, who assured me that it had been sent and that I would hear back within 6 weeks. I waited until early-to-mid-January to call back Toronto Head & Neck to see if they had heard anything about my referral. In a panic that seemed to suggest that the referral was never sent, the secretary said that she would send the referral immediately. I waited another ten weeks, heard nothing from Toronto Head & Neck. I returned to my doctor, fed up, and she referred me to a second ENT - one who shared a clinic with the ENT I was referred to by Toronto Head & Neck. I waited six weeks with no reply, and I called my doctor's office to ask if they had sent the referral, which they confirmed. They suggested I call the ENT's office. After calling the ENT's office, all was revealed. Toronto Head & Neck never sent the referral in November. After they finally sent the referral in January, the ENT's office immediately called back to confirm an appointment in February - Toronto Head & Neck never passed this information on to me. I was labelled a "no-show" for my appointment so when the second referral from my actual doctor came in, they disregarded it on account of my "no-show" status. After explaining the situation and apologising profusely, I finally have an appointment at this second ENT, in July of 2019. Who knows how long I will have to wait to actually address my medical concerns? read more

Awful experience. Avoid it if you can. Spent over 3 hours in the waiting room, for a very short, uninformative appointment. Administrative staff was rude and repeatedly lied about the wait times, eventually just ignored everyone who was asking how long they would be there. read more

I would not recommend coming here for idiopathic tinnitus. It's a bait and switch operation. The initial appointment is an assessment from the doctor for hearing and to check the anatomy of the ears. After diagnosis, they will refer you to an in-house audiologist for $125 treatment consultations. It does not matter how severe the tinnitus is or if it's causing severe insomnia and poor health. If you want treatment, you NEED to pay. If you are fortunate to have health coverage, do it, otherwise look into other clinics. read more
