If you want to get on tour with me, you need a Torquay. It's like a backstage pass but much, much, much better. You wouldn't understand. I'd have to show you, not tell you.
First-Hand Experience: I've seen Torquay play once at their run down home stadium and twice away from home. In all three cases they put up a great fight, had loud and vociferous support, and won me over with their shiny kits and their brave swashbuckling ways. I love seaside towns and teams anyway, but I decided when I watched them in 2007 that I loved this team. They have to score a 5 star.
So Torquay have an iffy stadium, are out of the football league, and have never achieved any success since being founded in 1899, so why are they getting 5 stars? Because they play in orangey bright yellow and are right by the seaside in beautiful Devon in the South West of England! How can I not root for a seaside team that plays in yellow?
Plus, they're resilient, you have to give them that.
Their stadium holds 6,200 and is called Plainmoor and is just a short walk from the ocean. They are known as the Gulls, and who doesn't love Seagulls anyway?
But they're a seaside team as I said, and that's the quay to getting 5 stars from me. read more
