The bruising a couple of days after my ER visit.
    Steve O.

I feel very fortunate that my insurance company had Torrance Memorial as its main hospital in my area. Though my insurance plan changed after retiring, I still choose this hospital for tests, surgeries, and ER needs because of its network of highly qualified doctors. The hospital is clean, nurses are well trained, and it's located in a safe area. I wound in the ER at around 2AM because of nausea caused by contrast from a CT scan earlier that day that wasn't flushing from my system completely. I arrived at a good time when it wasn't very busy so I was able to be seen quickly. The ER is very patient and respectful. I appreciated the care they provided to get me back to normal as soon as possible. There was only one sticking point in treatment I received. Multiple staff members couldn't find a vein between trying to draw blood and to insert the IV. The result was a bit horrific. The pain wasn't bad but the bruising that resulted was eye opening. You'd think that ER staff would be well versed in finding a vein. Oh well. Alls well that ends well. It was a bit of a marathon that night but I was able to get rid of the contrast in my system and was on my merry way in about 3 hours. Mission accomplished.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great medical facility with very kind, professional and diverse employees.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I came for a simple blood test. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Gary, from the main lobby, walked me all the way to the area where the phlebotomists are. He was friendly, helpful and kind at all times.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]At the phlebotomist, a nice blonde lady with glasses whose name was Susan, or Cindy, I can't really recall, was also super helpful in filing out my profile and collecting all of my information.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I was one of the first ones to get there, so I was able to get in and out super quickly and do everything I needed to do in a very efficient manner.

Well, here I go never thought I would do a review for a hospital. I unfortunately fell down at work and broke my ankle in 3 places. I was transported to the hospital in an ambulance. My Emergency room experience was pretty good. I was admitted to the hospital and I had to have surgery and Dr Zinar was amazing!! Unfortunately, I had to spend two weeks and one day in the hospital due to Worker's Compensation delays. Everyone here is amazing but the time in the hospital was very depressing. I was hoping to go home one day then that sadly did not happen. The food is pretty good. I just wish they had more choices. I was lucky and had a couple meals brought by family. The salads downstairs were pretty darn good. I love my salad. I was also able to try one of their famous breakfast burritos. The hospital can be a very depressing place especially when you're independent and have to rely on other people to help you. I had a very special visitor Lacy a beautiful golden retriever. When I was given the choice of hospitals, I chose Torrance Memorial Hospital. I am happy I chose this hospital and thankful for all the nurses and staff that assisted me during this time.

Uhm, hospital rating not so high on ability to care after an earthquake. Sign in radiology waiting area

Nurse Chris in Radiology made my visit for a cardiac CT angiography scan more amusing than scary. That's really something, especially since I was rather apprehensive coming to the hospital, given my long rap sheet of rare complications. It was amazing amount of care, attention, and time dedicated to making a patience "feel" comfortable and peaceful. His bedside techniques included coming very close to the bed to chat up on something I might find interesting to occupy my mind, while Linda inserted the IV line, which I was so yeeek about. She was good too, once and done. Chris was funny and calming, stayed bedside through the entire process and even during cool off period as the drugs start wearing off and I had the shivers... I spent so many hours starring at the blank ceilings of hospital rooms in laboratory level cold temperatures feeling like a specimen, so I recognize how this was going above and beyond. I also appreciate the Torrance Memorial system for not overbooking, as it would not have been possible in a jam packed booking. Now, to the rest of the experiences - as I have been to Torrance Memorial hospital a LOT of times, and probably 15 different departments, had births, deaths, emergencies - most of the experiences have been positive, though not as exceptional as yesterdays. Overall environment is peaceful and healing, with greeters at the entrance, volunteer ushers, live piano playing sometimes, and pretty good system to help people move throughout. Some exams do take very long to get a date, some doctors are forever wait, but once it's your turn, its good. The cafe is alright, food is decent. I saw signs for 1/2 sandwich with soup for $7.99, which is cheaper than Panera, so I got in line for an beef entre meal with no price sign. It rang up at $13.80, not cheap but doesn't seem to be for any profit either. I sat at the cafe for a while to make sure my dizziness wore off completely before driving, and it was a nice flow of people in and out.

I had high hopes for NVision after my 8:15am appointment. The receptionist, Lurena, was incredibly kind and made me feel well taken care of. She told me I was a perfect candidate for laser surgery, which gave me confidence in the process. However, things took a disappointing turn when I met with this Asian doctor. I explained that I didn't have insurance and would be paying out of pocket. After that, the energy completely shifted. The doctor told me they couldn't help me and referred me elsewhere--despite your website stating that NVision helps all glaucoma patients. It felt like I was dismissed simply because I didn't have insurance. I left feeling disappointed, unheard, and like I had completely wasted my time and money. If NVision only works with insured patients, that should be made clear upfront. This was an incredibly frustrating experience.

The first three injections were at a different hospital. Dr. Huynh has performed the procedure for me two or three times since then. I should have written this review a long time ago, but better late than never. Yesterday's injection was by far the best one I've ever had. The actual procedure took maybe two minutes. I barely felt the numbing needle and barely felt the larger needle. It was over before it even began. For someone who has been through this many times, that level of skill and care means a great deal. The pain I deal with comes from my condition, not from the way the injection was performed. Thank you very much, Dr. Huynh, and thank you to the entire staff. Special thanks to Dr. Millicent (Milli) -- I apologize if I have the spelling wrong and I don't know your last name. I've spoken with Milli every single time I've come in for this procedure over the past four years. We both have corgis, and we always ask each other how our dogs are doing. Milli is always very friendly and kind, and I really appreciate that. The first person I met yesterday was Robert. He got me hooked up to the machine and ready for the procedure. He is Filipino, and my wife is also Filipino, so we bonded right away over the special way Filipino women act when they are upset. We both laughed because we knew exactly what the other was talking about. Dr. Tang (I remember her name because it's like the drink Tang) was also there. I believe she assisted Dr. Huynh or may have performed part of the injection itself. I was lying on my stomach so I couldn't see, but she was professional, kind, and funny. She made me feel very comfortable. Oscar helped push me into the operating room and later into the recovery room. He was really cool and friendly. I remembered his name easily because Oscar was my Spanish name in high school Spanish class. There was a woman named Vun who ran the operating table and took the images of the area being worked on. I didn't speak with her much because I was on my stomach, but I said hello and she seemed very friendly and a valuable part of the team. There was at least one other nurse who helped me move from the regular bed to the operating table. She helped me keep my dignity during that transfer, and I'm sorry I don't remember her name. I have a name in my mind but I don't want to say it in case I'm wrong. In the recovery room, Wendy was great. My birthday is August 16 and hers is August 17. We bonded over that, and I learned she's going to Cancun for her birthday with her boyfriend. I hope you have a wonderful time, Wendy. She gave me juice and crackers, called my wife to pick me up, and was a friendly face that topped off the whole experience. Wendy also wrote down Dr. Peter Huynh's full name for me, which is why I have it correctly. I should have asked her to write down the other names too, but I know she was busy. The final person I met was a nice woman who pushed me out of the hospital in the wheelchair. I have no idea what her name was, but I appreciate you. Thank you very much -- you were very friendly too. Overall, this was an excellent experience from start to finish. Thank you again to Dr. Huynh and the entire team for the care and kindness.

It breaks my heart what has happened to this hospital. In 1969, my mother and I were involved in a horrendous automobile accident which took her life. The doctors who were associated with GMH at that time were amazing. My current opthomologist is part of a group associated with Dr Markman who was part of the team that treated my severe facial injuries and saved my vision. The nurses were so kind because they knew my mother had passed but my family didn't want to me to know yet so I would heal faster, though I sensed she was gone. The staff was so supportive back then. I was in ICU when the funeral was held so I never got to say my final goodbye. Anyway, this facility is a tragedy waiting to happen. I don't think anyone should come here by choice, especially for a heart attack. Better to take your chances and have your family or friend drive you and roll the dice rather than allow a non-caring paramedic take you to this death trap. Avoid at all possible cost.

Thank you so much! I truly appreciate everyone who helped make this experience a positive one…read more I have been in pain for years, and today, June 15, 2026, I finally had my toe surgery. Once the surgery date was set, I was scared, nervous, and anxious. Deep down, I knew I would be okay, but the fear of the unknown was overwhelming. From checking in with security to the admitting department, the customer service was outstanding. Once I arrived on the second floor, the pre-op nurses were absolutely amazing. I wish I could remember all of their names I believe Joanne, Rose, and Stephanie were among them. They were caring, professional, and had a wonderful sense of humor that helped calm my nerves. I was Dr. Feit's first patient of the day. He came in, spoke with me for a few minutes, and immediately put me at ease. Then reality set in, and I started feeling nervous again. When I was rolled into the operating room and saw the team waiting for me, I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Feit is an exceptional podiatric surgeon. He listens, cares about his patients, is understanding, and has a warm smile that makes you feel comfortable. (Okay, Dr. Feit, you're a cutie patootie too!) Let's not forget his staff at the Torrance office. They are incredibly kind, friendly, professional, and welcoming. Dr. Feit has surrounded himself with an outstanding team, and it shows. Thank you, Dr. Feit and your entire staff, for everything. I will be back with an update to let everyone know if the pain is finally gone. GOD is good, and I am grateful for the excellent care I received today. Thank you, Diane

The staff was so kind during her stay and every time I called to check on her. My Mom was kept clean and comfortable. The Doctor even showed up in a good mood and was not rushed when answering my questions. I was confident that she was getting the proper 24 hour care needed. I hated for her to leave. I highly recommend this hospital.

This is for the Emergency Room…read more Boyfriend was treated twice over two months, as we live in the Marina. Trust me, if there were ANY other choice close by, we would have taken it. Security staff is incredibly rude, one guy in particular. I really hope he never has an emergency necessitating a rush to the ER with your loved one to be treated like he treated us for no reason. We don't want to be there. We need help. Sorry if we are bothering you. You should find a job not working with the public and definitely not in medical care. In early June, boyfriend passed out and fell at 1 am on a Saturday night. He must have hit his head, as he was disoriented, confused and had garbled speech. Thinking he was having a stroke, I called the paramedics, who arrived right away and rushed him to this ER. Over the course of several hours, they checked miscellaneous things, gave him fluids (as he was dehydrated), and finally checked him into the hospital around 5 am. The next day, they did a CT scan, found nothing and released him. Where they FAILED is that they did not schedule a follow up CT scan, which necessitated, in August, two months later, an emergency embolism procedure and bilateral subdural hematoma evacuation (brain bleed surgery) at the excellent Providence Little Company of Mary hospital in Torrance. In early August, boyfriend was having severe headaches, motor skills issues, and foggy thinking, so he came home early from work and we went to ER again at 2:30 pm (again having to deal with that absolute jerk of a security guard), where they ran a CT scan and MRI, and guess what? He had two brain bleeds (bilateral subdural hematomas) and needed to be transferred to a hospital with a neurology department, which took several hours. Absolutely ridiculous. When I dared to ask what was taking so long, I was snarkily told they were working on it, and that there were no available beds in LA with a neurology center, and they needed to find a hospital and transport to it, which took HOURS. He was not transported by ambulance to the hospital until 9:30 pm. As luck would have it, he was taken to Little Company of Mary, where he was scheduled for surgery first thing the next morning. I will be doing my research to find another ER near us. This place is terrible. The doctors and nurses do an okay job, but the amount of time taken to care for patients, especially for an emergency as in my boyfriend's case, is absolutely unacceptable.
