I want to commend Jenni the secretary manager in cardiology. I will re-write this so it's not…read moreremoved, again. There were 2 parts to my review and the good one is that Jenni listened to my uncle when he needed it most. After being told he couldn't have his heart test because he was in a wheelchair with his sling. He uses a Hoyer lift and the employee who was to help him, said he wasn't going to "risk his career by injuring his back trying to lift him". That's all I will say for that male employee, who wouldn't seek the hoyer lift. My uncle called back to complain and Jenni listened attentively without judgement to neither on the employee she works with or my uncle. Jenni was extremely empathetic and her sincerity resonated an employee who truly cares about the patients, and not "just a person who uses a wheelchair". Applause to Torrance Memorial for having such a dedicated employee, and exemplifies the top notch leadership skills for her team.

Emergency Room Experience -- September 15, 2026, Approximately 4:30-8:03 p.m…read more *This complaint concerns only our emergency-room experience. All our other experiences at Torrance Memorial have been excellent, 5-star experiences. Times are approximate because of the stress of the situation. *A PA at the neighboring urgent care instructed us to take my wife to the emergency room because her oxygen saturation had fluctuated between 69% and 75% during the previous 24 hours. We followed that instruction immediately, checked in, and completed triage. *Her oxygen level reached 99% (allegedly) during triage but later dropped to 85%. I carry my own pulse oximeter because of my medical history, including CABG surgery. *We waited approximately three hours. During that time, I personally observed approximately 30 other patients arrive and leave or be taken ahead of my wife. I asked the clerk for a copy of my wife's triage report so I could understand whether her condition had been classified as less urgent. The clerk and male triage nurse 'refused' to provide the results and did not give us a clear explanation for the delay or refusal! * I understand that emergency-room patients are treated according to medical urgency rather than strictly by arrival time. However, the clerk told me the other patients that arrived AFTER us were "not that bad with their symptoms" and therefore were seen first. I recorded that statement and found it confusing and inconsistent with the explanation that patients are prioritized according to medical urgency. *My wife and I are Black. During our wait, we observed that nearly all of the patients taken ahead of her appeared to be white. This is my firsthand observation, not a conclusion about the reason for the treatment we received. However, because staff did not provide a clear or consistent explanation, I am concerned that race may have influenced how we were treated. *At approximately 8:03 p.m., we left without my wife receiving treatment. *About ten minutes later, someone from the hospital called us and provided an explanation that I found unclear and unhelpful. I am requesting clarification regarding that call and why my wife had not been seen before we left. The charge nurse later told me that her friend, and possibly other patients, had been advised to wait outside to reduce COVID-19 exposure. We were never offered that option and saw no sign explaining it. If senior citizen patients were permitted or encouraged to wait outside, that information should have been clearly posted and communicated consistently. Instead, we remained in a crowded emergency room for hours without knowing that waiting elsewhere might have been allowed. The nurses could barely be heard 'inside' the lobby. We also question why we were charged, or may be charged, several hundred dollars for an emergency-room visit that urgent care said was necessary, even though my wife left without receiving treatment. We request: 1. A review of my wife's triage classification and the order in which patients were seen. 2. An explanation of why approximately 30 patients were taken ahead of her. 3. Confirmation that the order of treatment complied with hospital triage policies. 4. An explanation of why we were not provided her triage results or a clear explanation for the delay. 5. An investigation into whether race or inconsistent procedures affected our treatment. 6. Confirmation of whether patients could wait outside and how that option was communicated. 7. A review and adjustment of any charges from this visit. 8. Copies of my wife's emergency-room and triage records. 9. A clear explanation of the telephone call made to me approximately ten minutes after we left. This was by far our worst experience at Torrance Memorial. We came seeking medical help and left feeling dismissed, confused, frustrated, and unable to trust that we had been treated fairly. We request meaningful answers and corrective action rather than excuses. Do better for ALL PATIENTS! This morning ChatGPT said her sleep apnea can cause her readings. What a waste

Valet is free for anyone with a disabled placard. Outpatient services, diagnostic, imaging, nuclear studies are mostly handled by the Outpatient Center in the REAR of the hospital at 5215 Torrance Bl (the main entrance address is 4101 Torrance Bl). Confirm before you arrive or you'll likely have a long trek to get to the right location. The salad bar in the café is decent in a pinch, especially if you don't want to leave the property for a meal. Self parking is free, but it's busy and it will often be blocked to incoming traffic because the lots are...full. Patience is necessary. Staff is friendly and helpful, which was welcome when I took a wrong turn out of the elevators. A worker must have noticed the perplexed look on my face and offered to help before I even knew i needed help.

I have to say her office manager is incompetent, her staff are unapproachable and clueless. If it wasn't for her I would have found another doctor along time ago, however trying to see her is getting very rare each year. Physicals are scheduled 2 years in advance. She doesn't have appointments available if you needed to be seen for a cold or flu-forget about it-it takes about two weeks or more to see her. Instead the office will send u to see her nurse practitioner or now I'm waiting since 3:30 to be seen by their PA. This will most likely be the LAST TIME I come in here. It's not worth the time or effort to deal with staff who are in health care just for the pay checks and not in it for the betterment of the patients well-being. Absolutely disappointed. Torrance memorial should be better equipped with sending doctors staff that 1. Are fully capable of handling the procedures of scheduling and insurance paperwork 2. Looking up urgent care information/ ER history if needed 3. Have doctors that have better accessibility for their patients and 4. Have a better patient experience. Don't bother coming here unless this is what your equipped to deal with each time you come to the doctors or bring your loved ones here. Update: I had a chance to see Dr. B and THANK GOD because even he is having issues with these people in the office. He's walking around upset over staff order labs that shouldn't have and it's been happening and is making the patients late on getting their labs done. I'm mean seriously TMMC hire competent staff this is our health!

After completing the paperwork, a staff member named "Lauren" (white late 20-ish year old) informed us that because this was a work related injury, we needed to contact his employer's HR department, as they are not a workers' comp facility. I asked her directly if that meant they could not treat him despite the urgency, and she REITERATED that we needed to go through HR so they could refer us elsewhere. Feeling frustrated, I initially left but returned to ask for her name. At that point, her explanation changed. She stated, in a very condescending and disrespectful manner, that she had intended to say they would see him, but that I didn't let her finish. ALL BULL -she was clearly finished. I told her that she was now saying something different because I came back to ask for her name and was not going to put up/accept the fact that she turned us away. I totally called her on her BS. Maybe she is used to talking down to people, but I didn't take her shit. Overall, this experience was extremely frustrating, especially given the urgency of my son's condition. Based on this interaction, I would not recommend this facility due to the lack of professionalism. I see that others on Yelp have complained about the front desk staff..so yeah, looks like THEIR HR department needs to do some work. UPDATE 04/07/26 - left the office manager a message on Friday, April 3rd for her to call me. No call back yet. This just shows they don't take this type of stuff seriously.

I had a bad experience with Dr. Tsai: or, more accurately, I had barely any experience at all with…read moreDr. Tsai. He was committed to his theory of my having covid, and his simple answer was to turn me away. The whole thing was a farce from start to finish. THE CONTEXT: Some months back, after we were all vaccinated and Biden had declared the pandemic over, I came down with standard cold/flu symptoms. I didn't think much of it, but I took a rapid covid test anyway, and that came back negative. A few days passed and my symptoms worsened, and this time came chest pain. I had pneumonia as a child, and I don't mess around with chest pain. I took another covid test, also negative, and then tried to set up my appointment. THE RUNAROUND: I tried to get an appointment, and they pitched me that new nonsense "telehealth." I told them that wouldn't work since the whole point is that I need a doctor to listen to my chest and back, because I had pneumonia as a child and now I'm worried about chest pain. I assured them I had already tested negative twice. They said we could start with telehealth and then decide what to do next, and I said that sounded like a great waste of time and money, so they grudgingly brought me in. THE APPOINTMENT: No complaints about the wait time! I was swept into the back upon arrival, like I had the plague. Doctor came in with full mask and face shield, told me that my symptoms sounded like covid, and casually threw in that "this is why we like people to start with telehealth." I told him I had tested negative twice already. He hemmed and hawed "yeah but, yeah but, I'd be more comfortable if you got a third one, from the PCR test." Okay, sounds pointless but let's do it, bring it on. "No no, we don't do them here." You don't... do it here? At the doctor's office? He never even got close enough to hold his stethoscope up to me or listen to my breathing. I told him it wasn't covid but, even if it was, I still needed help with my chest pain. Nothing doing. He even made me leave through a back door. No joke. THE FALLOUT: I head out to get my third covid test, because I guess doctors don't give covid tests. Okay. I almost drive past the "facility": a folding table set up on a street corner, with narry an employee in sight. I wait around until the employees come back from lunch. They make me do some QR code nonsense and then wait around, outdoors, sick, with no chairs, while I wait for another off-site worker to call me for... you guessed it... telehealth!! Feeling twice as sick as I was that morning, I wait 30 minutes for their nonsense video call, finish it, and get deemed worthy of a PCR test. I do the PCR test, drive home miserably, and the PCR test comes back negative because of course it does. I was sick with one of myriad illnesses that don't happen to be covid. The whole experience was bizarre. It was like the doctor WANTED me to have covid, like that would give him a free pass on treating me. He won't test for it, won't treat it, won't have it in his office... Covid is infectious and dangerous, but what do these people think that a doctor's job is? Legitimately, what do they think the job entails? Anyway, after my third negative test, I wasn't interested in learning whether or not Dr. Tsai would be satisfied. I wasted almost an entire day, and I learned diddly squat except that I will never go to this doctor again.
