They give you the condiments so you can dress the burger yourself...but the bottles have no tops to them. On my ketchup bottle, on the tip, there was a dried up seed from who knows what. I can say I added plenty of ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise to my burger...but none of those flavors came through. On the bright side...they gave me a side of beans even though I ordered a burger. The beans were tasty...and the fries were crisp and piping hot. But every time I poured ketchup on them, the dried up seed on the bottle kept staring at me. As far as service...I was the only one there during that time. The waitress took my order... brought out my food...and see you later. She was replaced with another one, and the new one didn't even bother to check on me. I don't mind paying $11 for a nice juicy burger...but it's definitely not here.

This tortillería offers white/yellow corn tortillas, a variety of freshly made salsas, barbacoa, carnitas, and menudo on the weekends. This place would easily be 5 stars...but the quality of the menudo has dropped. With every order of carnitas or barbacoa, they give you their housemade green and red salsas...my particular fave is the green salsa. It's not spicy...has a nice tang to it...and pairs perfectly with the barbacoa. They also have other salsas: chimichurri, guacamole, habanero... The barbacoa and carnitas don't have much fat on them...and are seasoned well. A half-pound goes down in 2-3 tacos...it is that tasty. But the menudo...about 2 years ago it was perfect. It had the right amount of tripe/corn ratio...the meat was tender and it was trimmed nicely. Recently though, whether I just got a bad batch, or the cook was in a hurry...but twice in a row, the menudo I received was not trimmed well. There was so much fat floating on top...and chunks on the pieces, it was inedible. If I was grading the menudo alone...it would be a 1 star. The picadillo is under $3 and delicious! It could use more potatoes, but it's still super tasty. The bistec ranchero is very good and also pretty loaded. It's spicy, but not over the top if you like heat. It's a wet one just like the carne guisada so don't let them get too soggy on you if you're taking them to go. I actually managed to eat my carne guisada without any spillage and that's saying something! That's probably the only lunch taco that isn't really loaded, but it's necessary because otherwise the gravy would leak out. They charge a fee if you don't use cash. The sign on the window says they charge 4% if you use credit or debit. The law says they can only charge it on credit cards not debit though. I paid cash this last trip, but will notify management about that fee error.

The servers are very friendly and are patient to explain the menu to those who have not tried Venezuelan food before. Arepas are similar to gorditas (not exactly, the are lighter and crispier). The empanadas are yellow corn and lovely. The hallacas are traditional Christmas food in Venezuela, something like a tamal veracruzana. This truck is a great addition to the McAllen food truck park as pretty much everything else is tacos this provides a variety and international flair. Come try it!
