The front desk is not offering privacy but rather talking loudly across the waiting room (possibly a HIPAA violation?). The place smells and it's far too dirty to be considered safe for patient care. Once I arrived I signed in on the kiosk and waited for my name to be called. As soon as I sat down, the lady came to the door and called my name and told me which room to go to. Once entering the room, the phlebotomist had me verify my name and DOB. The young lady that was going to draw my blood asked for help as she didn't feel confident in sticking me as my veins are pretty deep and hard to find, so a colleague came and assisted her. I appreciate that more than they know as I hate getting my blood drawn. The second young lady found a vein and stuck me once but was unsuccessful in drawing blood. She then went to get a third lady to assist. The third woman was an older lady who told me she has been doing phlebotomy for about 40 years. She took her time finding a vein and didn't stick me until she 100% sure she was going to get what she needed. (Third time was the charm) I didn't feel a thing! She made sure to check on me as it felt like she took about 8 tubes of blood. I appreciate the care I received today and many laughs I got for the short time I was in the office!

When I called back at 12:40 p.m., I was met with hostility from Amy, Tiara, and Passion--who said they were RNs. They refused to let me speak to management or the Nurse Practitioner. When I simply asked for the address to confirm I had the right location, I was threatened with the police. I left that call in tears, feeling humiliated, dismissed, and unsafe. I believe I was denied care because of my disability and a pending malpractice case against Mercy. The interaction triggered my depression, anxiety, and PTSD so badly that I had to seek emergency behavioral health treatment. No patient should ever be treated like this when reaching out for care.

The only problem is I was not prescribed an amphetamine. She suddenly discontinued my medication and put it in my medical records I was non-compliant. I was then treated like a drug addict and criminal by a member of the front desk staff when I called to follow up. All Nicole had to do was google if Ritalin is an amphetamine. She had multiple opportunities to speak with me about my negative drug tests but chose to try and catch me in a "lie". At best this is human error, at worst this is plain negligence. If Nicole wasn't comfortable or familiar with prescribing ADHD medication, she shouldn't have taken me on a patient as I told her getting my ADHD treated was my main concern. I wasted a year of my life trying to get adequate treatment from Nicole Carr and she failed me. I now see Katie Padberg at Sunny Day Psychiatry who has been compassionate and never once made me feel like I was a druggie or "medication seeking" Stay away from Nicole Carr if you go here.

This is because, we now know, the doctors are all paid more if they have 100% compliance for vaccinations for all their patients. Recently at a congressional hearing we found out that pediatricians are being paid by the HMO insurance companies for vaccinating kids. Payment is $200-$600 per child. Many pediatricians making $1 million a year just for vaccinating kids. Practices must keep a certain percentage of patients at 100% vaccination rate to qualify for the payments. Pediatricians stop seeing kids as patients whose parents refuse vaccinations. This is not about health. It's about doctors and insurance companies making millions and billions per year each. It was crushing. My child's former pediatrician who assisted with the getting the exemption due to what he termed 'adverse reaction' and the exemption was granted, retired and moved out of state. He even called them but they would not honor his calling to talk to the new prospective doctor. They are monsters there.

We also got great recommendations about their other doctors, too. I like that Dr. Shilpa is relatable (she seems to be around our age with a young kiddo as well) and she takes time to answer all of my questions (I come almost every time with a list of questions on my phone). She is patient in sharing her expertise and has a kind way of interacting with my child. Now after the birth of our second baby, Dr. Shilpa sees both kiddos. I like that the exchange is very accessible and easy to use. We've called many times during off hours to reach a nurse from Children's hospital. They'll either answer our questions immediately or they'll contact the on call pediatrician and then call us back. It's pretty straightforward to schedule a sick visit the same day, though if you call right at 8:30 when their phone lines open, you might have to wait on hold for a few minutes. The nurses and other staff are usually very pleasant and helpful. I highly recommend Southwest Pediatrics and especially Dr. Shilpa to anyone looking for a pediatrician in south city!
