I took my beloved 2017 Ram 3500 to Barrett based on reading their reviews. The truck had 830,000…read moremiles on it when they serviced the Aisin Transmission, which is the original and never rebuilt. I noticed when I picked the truck up that the water and fuel light was on and I thought that was a strange coincidence. Over the years this light has come on two or three times after a car wash, and it's an easy fix to clean out the water in the sensor connection. I did that and even replaced the sensor in the rear fuel water separator. The light was still on, even though the fuel looked clean, so I ended up taking it to a shop in Oak Harbor before driving to the Tetons, as that light was bothering me. It turns out the technician at Barrett had inadvertently pinched some wires that ran along the crossmember below the transmission mount when he reattached the cross number. Thus the cause of the water and fuel light. Barrett was extremely honorable and covered the cost of those wire repairs, and the shops diagnostic fee. So the only thing I was out was the cost of a water and fuel sensor and time. At the time of this post, the truck has nearly 832,000 miles as I just did a trip to Teton Valley and back to Washington and the transmission ran beautifully. The service work the technician did was otherwise perfect and this type of mistake could happen to anyone, so I do not fault Barrett and I would gladly use them again and intend to. The fact that they honored this situation without question is an indication of a shop that has integrity.

I came in…read morewith the recommendation of several of my ASE mechanic friends from different local repair shops as I had red fluid pouring out between my tranny and motor. Mark assured me that they'll take an assessment of the issue and get back to me before doing any work. Later in the day I received a phone call from Mark. He shared with me the red fluid was not tranny fluid, however, the specialized coolant my duramax requires. He went on to describe that all fluid levels were appropriate and the tranny and transfer case were in fine shape. Despite feeling a bit embarrassed about not differentiating the difference between the tranny vs coolant fluids, I was extremely grateful that they did not take advantage of me and, instead, went on to show me where the issued was. Such honesty goes a long way these days. Based upon numerous recommendations from mechanics I trust and respect, and Barrett transmission's honesty (and the time they took to further investigate and show me the issue)., I'll be back with any transmission issues or maintenance needs that I might have. He had my car almost 3 weeks with no communication and became angry when I asked for a time estimate because we wanted to rent a car. Said I was rushing him. After the first repair he hadn't fix the second issue. He said he didn't know about it because I had the car towed in. He didn't drive it. I told him the issues and his mechanic told me he drove it. He told me it was safe to drive and bring it back next week. I looked it up and it was an absolutely do not drive with a bad transmission bearing. Could cause catastrophic failure !! We brought it back. I had to phone for weekly updates and he just kept the bs going . The parts bin ordered he's saying. But can't say or even estimate its arrival even though he expressed it. One call he threatened to put it back the way it was and I could come get it. But I paid for it to be fixed??? He had my money what could I do. He tries to make you feel you're the unreasonable one. I could go on and on. The out come is after him having my car for almost three months and $5500 I am now less than 4 months later looking to have my transmission fixed again. Normally I would take it back but absolutely not to him and his aggressive dog.Stay away!!! -0 stars but not can't rate in the negatives.

I was contacted on Monday that they would be able to begin working on my vehicle between Wednesday and Thursday. as of today, Thursday, I was contacted by a different person from this business claiming that they had attempted to call me yesterday, but from a personal phone and left no voicemail, stating that the shop is closed and will not be available for work for up to two more weeks. the people aren't even communicating with each other and are wasting peoples time and money. they need to fully post that they are closed to business and tell tow companies and insurance not to bring vehicles in until they are functional again. this is outrageous and a complete waste of the last five days where I possibly could have had it already looked at and addressed at an actual shop that is operating normally and honestly. highly dissatisfied and disappointing.
