Dave G is a scam artist clown. He started my job in Mar of 23 and still hasn't come back to finish the job. I'm out of town trying to bury my Father in law and he is just blowing my phone up bc I won't pay him until I see the finished job. He said he was done and demanded payment. I still have stumps that are not ground, trees and tree limbs that are not picked up in FREAKING OCTOBER! Do Not use this guy. He will take your money, do 1/2 the work and cut bait. I repeat he is a scam artist. I should have known when he wanted PayPal and to send it to his assistant. Dave responded very quickly the day I called to get an estimate. That part of this process went fine. He drew up the estimate almost on the spot. He initially asked up front for the entire amount due. I was not comfortable with that. After our agreement to pursue the project, things started to drag. It took longer than originally indicated for his crew to come to our property to do the requested work (tree trimming, bed clean-up, and planting of shrubs in the front yard). I had to call several times to ask, When will the work be done? I understand landscapers get very busy this time of year, but the waiting did try my patience. Finally, though, the crew came to do the work. Most of the work was done -- but not all. The trimming and bed clean-up looked fine, and, ultimately, the shrubs that were planted also looked appropriately nice. But the job wasn't completed: Part of the agreement was for installation and hook-up of drip hoses, to be placed on a timer. Almost three weeks after the shrubs were planted, we are STILL waiting for the connection of the hoses. They are coiled in the garden bed, but unconnected and therefore useless. Without that connection, they are not operational. Hence, we have had to water all plants manually, using our usual garden hose. This was NOT our agreement. The installation/connection of drip hoses was integral to the project, and yet those hoses are sitting there, doing nothing. We have neither the knowledge nor the inclination to connect them (and set up the timer). Since we paid for this service, we're unhappy about the outcome. The homeowner (my daughter) and I have contacted Dave numerous times, through phone calls and text messages. At times, he has answered those calls and messages, and at other times he has ignored us. On more than one call, he has promised me to go the property and make the necessary connections of the drip hoses and timer. He has yet to show up, and I've been asking for this final piece of the project to be done for more than two weeks. The job was not completed, yet on the day that most of the work was done, I was asked to pay the balance of the amount due (my mistake to do that, and I regret it). I am still waiting for the rest of the work to be finished. My entreaties to him have gone nowhere. We've given up at this point. I never write reviews like this online. I sign a contract with with Total Tree and Landscaping in January of 2021, the contract was for removal of trees on the property line one tree near the house, clean up a big oak tree and remove weeds thicket in the back part and stomp grinding. He sent out his crew to start they removed the tree near the house they went downhill from there. His crew would show up and only work for 2-4 hour, left piles of tree limbs all over the yard, left on tree stomp three foot high also left a log from one tree out in the middle of the yard. He was paid in full (my mistake for doing so) so we are out$7500.00. I'm seriously thinking about suing this guy. He has not returned any phone calls or texts. He know that there is going to be a wedding at my home and now I still have a pile of logs in my driveway (Dave put them there over a year ago). He should not be in Business, he is a crock he promises to do the work and never shows up. What ever you do, do NOT hire David Gosselin for any job you need done. As a gift, my mom hired a landscaper to rip everything out of my flower beds and have new shrubs and whatnot planted. Because of the time of year, most companies were too busy to even come out and look at the job. Total Tree and Landscaping was a last resort. However, Dave was responsive at first and came out right away to give my mom an estimate. Dave wanted half the money up front, which I advised my mom against because after talking to some people, I was assured that this was not the norm. First red flag. After that, things slowed down. Dave told my mom the project would be started the following week. It took his guys two weeks to show up, but I understand that this is their busy season, so that was fine. The actual work that was done at my house I would say is mediocre at best. The shrubs look okay, but the drip hoses are all exposed and run haphazardly through my flower beds. But again - I can live with that; my expectations for this company were not that high. After the shrubs were planted, my mom paid Dave in full for the job, even though he still needed to come back and set up a timer and hook up the drip hoses. This is when things took a real turn. Dave never responded to my calls or texts, and only responded to my mom a fraction of the time. He told her multiple times that he or his guys were on their way to my house to complete the work, but no one ever showed up. It's been about six weeks since she got the estimate, and one month since the work started. We haven't heard from Dave in over two weeks, and the job is yet to be completed. The drip hoses were part of the agreed-upon work and have been paid for IN FULL. I recognize that this debacle is partially our fault because we never should have paid until the job was completed, but any reputable company should stick to their word and finish the work that they've been paid for. Dave is unprofessional and I would not recommend this company to anyone. Save your money and go elsewhere. read more

I'd recommend Total Tree & Landscaping to all of my friends and family. Dave (owner) was very responsive when I first called to get an estimate to have have two very large (100'+) trees removed. Out of the 7 quotes I received, he was very competitive in his price, but what sold me was the confidence he gave me when talking through the job and how he and his crew planned to do the work. I was so happy with the work he and his team did on the trees, I had them also help me get my backyard in order as it was severely neglected for many years by the former home owner. Dave and his team stripped away the dead layer of lawn, regraded the entire backyard, applied topsoil where necessary and power-seeded/fertilized everything. Wouldn't recommend total tree and landscaping at all. Dave the owner had several trucks for sale, one of which I had a deposit on over Venmo. I bought a ticket to fly out and meet and what do you know didn't show up. He took my money and then sold the truck. Texted/ called Dave multiple times kept on saying he would send it back never has. I called local authorities and they have had several complaints about this company and there drug problems. Still can't get ahold of Dave after serveral attempts. Guy is a thief!! read more

Pretty darn good. Dave is an expert and really knows is work. I saw him drop a 140 foot hickory to a precise location, from the ground (no climbing) by himself. a few feet in either direction would have gotten the hickory hung up in other trees, in the woods. I hired Dave in the spring to clean up some felled trees and trim some others. $12k for a good job, on time, reliable and flexible. Thereafter, I hired Dave to help cleanup some of the backyard and build a fire pit. That's where it begins going downhill. The cleanup and pavers was $7k. Not cheap but a fair price given all the cleanup to be done. Dave requires half down and I pay up front. I then don't hear from him for weeks. I'm constantly havjng to follow up for any type of update. When I do get a hold of him, it's every excuse in the book. Busy, daughters birthday, down help, always something. Eventually the job gets done and it looks good. From there, I again hired Dave to put up a 3 foot wall around two sides of the firepit, capped and then leveling the yard and putting grass seed down where we'd need to continue work. 3750. This was July 4th weekend. I explain to Dave I don't care if it's 3 weeks or 6 weeks but please to communicate with me. Again, constantly asking for some type of update. No calls no shows twice. Can't get material. One of his crew members disappears apparently. Then, one day, in October, his crew shows up and there's a wall! Ok, great! Surprise...Immediately, I get the text that it's going to cost more money. Another $400. What we originally agreed to wasn't going to be enough. They'd put in different stone than what was originally quoted. Would have been fine if he'd communicated but this was the icing on the cake. I could not get ahold of him for months on end but when it came time to get paid, I got 3 calls within 24 hours. He sincerely apologized and I clearly understand how mistakes happen. We are all human and prone to mistakes. I'm waiting in two other estimates before making up my mind.
