Being 50 year old handicapped patron w diabetes i was completely taken advantage of here. i was disrespected made, fun of , lied to, and had my life put in jeopardy by William a manager here. i went to purchase a bottle of Respasado for my allergies and basic overall feeling and was first corrected in the way i said it in a condescending way and made fun of by the employee publicly. Then when my DL was asked it was refused because it had just expired. being 50 years old and the posted signs say under 30 must be ID'd i didn't think tha it was that big of a deal since the posted signs say under 30 must present ID. i asked that since in Texas per TABC that it would be his discretion and leave him responsible for it. No Dice, frustrated and handicapped i struggled to my car and thought what can i do, so being understanding i'm online and renewed it right there in the parking lot and took it him. william laughed and said that he isn't selling to me because he doesn't have to. There at this store they don't care about some discrimination and that he won't sell me anything. wile all this harassment caused my blood sugar to drop i stated while sweating and becoming dizzy that i might just buy some hard candy because i might be having some serious health issues and due to my diabetes need just some hard candy or something. william said he doesn't have to sell me anything and laughed. i tried to explain that this is a major heath issue and he told me to walk down the road because they don't care if i even go into diabetic shock. what kinda of corporation not only does this but condones it and allows people of 50 + to endure this. read more

I just wanted to post a warning for anyone doing online deposits for any keg or any reason- go IN STORE!!! its now month 2 on my keg deposit battle with total wine and corporate, have only been tossed around to both sides, lied to that my refund was a week away in mid June just to call customer service today and hear the same sphiel and learn my file has no notes, then be belittled in my first call as to "why did i even choose the online deposit? no one ever does and theres no refund button for anyone-corporate or otherwise- to give me back my money" maybe dont have it as an option on the site, I work full time and got this as a birthday gift in between shifts? I dont blame the store but want to get other buyers attention so they dont get scammed like me!!!, the store seems just as frustrated with corporate's lies as well and tired of hearing me say I was told the store had to help me, but I need my deposit back. I guess they reall need that $30 as a big business that could cover an internet bill for me! If I could give this place zero stars, I would. We ordered two kegs here for our wedding. On July 4th, I picked them up along with two keg taps and two plastic buckets to put them on ice in to stay cold (they were too small, by the way, and our venue thankfully had the correct size). I paid $180 in deposits for the kegs and taps and had a friend take them to Total Wine the Monday after the wedding to return them. He was told they couldn't take them without the card they were purchased with or my ID. He called me while there and told me this and the store told him I could just bring them in when we returned from our honeymoon. When I got back home, I got the kegs and taps and when I went to return them, I was refused a refund to my card and instead was offered store credit. The reason I was given was that I didn't have a receipt from the transaction. 1) I was never told to keep the receipt, nor do I even remember getting one. 2) Both kegs still had the Total Wine price tags on top of them for easy verification they were purchased there. 3) The manager remembered me ordering them and picking them up. The manager then told me that because I wasn't a rewards member at the time of purchase, they couldn't look up the receipt. I called the corporate office in Maryland and they were hard at work trying to find the receipt for me, but were unable to find it, as well, due to "their system being down." They also told me they thought it was "baloney" that the store told me they couldn't look up receipts or wouldn't refund me based on the Total Wine price tags and barcodes on the kegs. The corporate office said that every store can look up receipts and they were not a fan of how it was handled, but they also couldn't help me. Long story short, take your business to Applejacks Liquors if you're shopping for any alcohol whatsoever in Denton. AVOID Total Wine. They used to be great but sadly seem to just be out to rip their customers off now. Even the employees are rude these days. Support local! Shop elsewhere! read more

While they have a wide selection of beer wins and liquor I have also shopped their humidor many times. Their cigar selection seems to be not well managed and they seem to have taken to wrapping damaged cigars in their own plastic wrapper. When I unwrapped a quite expensive Padron anniversary series, I was greeted with a badly torn wrapper. I will not be visiting the Denton location any more. read more

Great store! Great selection! Very well merchandised and friendly staff. There's another large liquor store very close to this one (Specs) and the difference between the two is night and day. As a comparison, specs feels like a Walmart and Total Wine feels like Bloomingdales. Now, I shop at Walmart all the time. I do so because I know I can get the best prices there, hence, I don't mind the low-brow environment. But the prices at Total Wine - on the items I compared - were LOWER than the ones at Specs. So you get a better experience and a better price at Total Wine. They will get all of my business. Highly recommended. read more

I was so surprised to find our favorite Oregon sparkling wine here and to learn we could have it delivered. It's our nephew's graduation. He's in Denton and we're in Oregon. I was in your store 2 nights ago to do a return. The manager was a young guy that even though I treated him super nice he just looked at me with disgust like I was being cheap coming in for a $12 refund. The cashier apparently had been needing his help a lot so we were both trying to be jovial with him he was just not having it. I had to ask twice for my new receipt and then my original as well. The management at this store does not reflect the customer service I know they'd terminate their employees for not having. Reading your reviews shows me y'all definitely have issues in Denton and Lewisville. I will b checking out your competition. Great product and sales force. But, in the last two months, people have been fired, and one night I overheard the manager (someone in charge) yelling at his employees. They did not know I was still in the store. He was rude to them, and also demeaning. I go here regularly, but something has really changed. The employees (those that remain) are still great with the customers, but there is definitely a different dynamic. Seems like there is not enough staff anymore, either. Much better customer service than specs but the mask ignorance really bothers us. Any place super masked up is lowering their immune systems and realistically endangering everyone but hopefully they don't get us ill. The selection here is vast, the prices are better than some other places. We really appreciate being able to taste some things if we don't know what they're like. The staff is always helpful, the selection is very good, and the prices are quite fair, usually cheaper than the corner liquor store so if you're stocking up or making a trip out to a place near them, you'd be foolish not to go here. I was so happy when this place opened up in Denton. We'd all been waiting for a huge liquor store that has EVERYTHING! They have all the wine options you could ever need. There's all your liquors and even some moonshine (just whiskey not the real deal) and some of the coolest looking bottles. I'm a sucker for skull bottles and they have them. One of my favorite purchases was a $100 skull bottle of vodka. It's was iridescent and shined like a beautiful rainbow. Sadly, I lost it during a move. :( Anyway, they also have all the mixers you could need and anything that goes with drink making. When I don't know what to get someone as a house warming gift or birthday I stop here and maybe grab a bottle of wine or vodka or a gift card and add a cute kitchen gift. They have cute wine holders, bottle openers, glasses, bottle toppers, cocktail shakers, shot glasses, popcorn maker, chillers, stoppers, flasks, party kits, ice buckets, and much much more. Have been to this location a few times and love it! Always clean and easy to find what I'm looking for. This time around I had a difficult time finding something I'd enjoy and Jamie was a huge help. He was extremely nice and asked twice if I needed help and gave excellent bourbon and whiskey suggestion in my price range and customized to my likings. Appreciate the staff always being friendly and helpful! The store looks modern and nice, has way more selections than other stores and are priced well. read more

This place is so cool!! This is the first time I've been here and I was very impressed with everything!! The wine area is pretty confusing especially since I was looking for my regular brand BUT they made up for it in sheer quantity and presentation. The gentleman at the front giving samples was very nice and informative. The girl at the back sample are was also incredibly helpful and I actually ended up with the ones I sampled from her. There is so much of everything! My husband is a scotch drinker and its usually a pretty short list of makers but not here. He kept pacing the aisle reading the different kinds. I'm more of a whiskey girl, particularly Texas, honey and cinnamon. Let me tell you I could have a major bender here!! Just kidding but maybe not The hubs also loves that he can get his special occasion cigars without having to go to a smoke shop. This place is pretty much Denton's version of Spec's, and I'm totally fine with that! I stopped in here to get some tequila and mixers so my cousins and I could have a girls night in. They have a big selection of all kinds of liquor, so I took some extra time to walk around, appreciate the nice decor as well as the variety available. It was difficult to find an employee at first, but the one I ended up talking to was very helpful. I think her name was Ashley. I found what I needed, and even bought some stuff I didn't go in the store for. And got hooked on an organic margarita mix that will be my new go to from now on. Score! read more

First off, everyone on the floor has always been so helpful and knowledgable when I have asked them for help. Everyone has always been smiling and interested in my question enough to genuinely hear me out and point me in the right direction. Also, the prices are absolutely great and I love the constant deals on alcohol. Ever since Total Wine has opened, I have been a customer and every single time except one time I have left mad and annoyed. While I understand that anyone who is younger is required to have their ID checked, being nice to people while doing so shouldn't be as hard as they make it seem. I'm 21 and my ID doesn't expire until 2019, so my picture is from when I was 18. I now have short hair and don't really look like my ID, so I typically will crack jokes to lighten the mood. Apparently, being nice to cashiers is like... weird or something because EVERY TIME I try and make conversation the cashiers look at me, acknowledging that I've said something, but never reply. I'm not going to act like I'm the funniest person alive and deserve knee slapping laughter, but being rude to nice customers WHO ARE ACTUALLY 21 makes me hate that I'm a nice person when I come in here. I work front desk so I know how annoying some people can be, but being rude to people who just want to make your shift a little easier (even for a minute) is only going to end this company with no customers. read more

This is a bonafide Texas liquor store. It is Enormous! It is overwhelming! It has very knowledgeable and friendly staff, that make expert recommendations. I told the young lady what I was looking for, and her recommendations were spot on perfect. It is also significantly cheaper than any liquor in Oklahoma. For example I usually buy Black Box wine in my Oklahoma for around $21.00 or $22.00 per box. They had it for under $15.00. They also had a $30.00 bottle of Pinot Grigio for about $17.00. In Texas this may be just another liquor store, but in Oklahoma it is probably illegal. read more

Being the connoisseur of alcohol(totally kidding), i decided to try this place out. I had forgot that the place use to be where Bed Bath & Beyond was, so i was surprised when i walked in and saw a HUGE selection of spirits. Not only that, but it felt like a classy place, if that makes any sense. One of the things i noticed is that after walking around for about twenty minutes no one had asked me if i need any help. This came as a surprise since there were so many staff members on the floor, but finally someone noticed i was having bit of a trouble locating a particular item. As far as wine selection goes, it's really second to none. I didn't take the time to look at too many liquors, but the whiskey selection was fair, but nothing special. With that said i did find a particular whiskey that i've been looking for for several years. Should be noted that they also have a cigar room. The only other thing i really noticed was they didn't have a big selection of spirit utensils and odd items. Nor did they carry a lot of the specialty packs you find around Christmas time. My experience shopping at Total Wine is always pleasant each time I go in there. The selection of alcohol is awesome and the cigars are a great little bonus. The store itself is great. The problem always, without fail, comes with checking out. Every time, I run into an ignorant clerk. Several times I have asked simple questions that is met with a inquisitive grunt or a flat out wrong answer. Every single time they're rude and clueless. I keep hoping I'll get lucky when I go in there but, so far, I've had a 100% failure rate. Just showing ID is a headache. One gentlemen in particular really needs to brush up on his simple arithmetic. Is it so hard to memorize the year and current date? The two times I've had him checking me out, he spends, and I'm not exaggerating here, a good minute staring at the ID while the neurons try their best to fire. I fear I'm going to have to start bringing a calculator with me. One day I believe I will find a good clerk. read more

Everything that you could possibly need to make a great drink is here. They have multiple bands of every type of liquor that there is. Tons of beer and a great wine selection. They even have multiple selections of Port which is rare, and at good prices. They sell my favorite almond champagne so I'm so glad I don't have to drive to lewisville anymore. The store itself is huge. It's clean and well lit so you can read everything easily. Everything is easy to find and sorted well. Staff is very helpful. They have really good prices which is my biggest draw. The loop is always so busy and the parking lot is always a mess so plan for that. Great store though. It's now my go to liquor store now that they have come to Denton. read more
