Easily accessible wine selections saved me the trouble of browsing or asking for recommendations. I'm used to enthusiastic and energetic customer service experiences at most Total Wine & More, but not this location. Did I visit the wrong location? Poor customer service experience. I discovered this chain when I was living in South FL, where the stores were MASSIVE. This one is tiny but still packs a punch. Even though this store was small, they still had a nice selection to pick from. I was excited to find Florida's Funky Buddha, but sadly they did not have any of my beloved New England ciders. In addition to booze they do sell cases of bottled water, gift bags, small gift ideas and more. I stood near a few employees and they didn't ask me if I had any questions. I usually don't want to be bothered in most stores, but I never mind being approached in a liquor store with some suggestions on what brews to try. A friendly manager did approach me at one point and we chatted a bit. I was here on a Friday around 1 pm and the parking lot was a hot mess, think Trader Joe's level bad. read more

Although I tend to prefer to patronize local beer and wine shops, and not chains, I do enjoy this Total Wine & More. Quite a good selection of national and local craft beers as well as a wide selection of wine. The staff is not always the "friendliest," but are always very helpful. Parking at the shopping center is always at a premium, but that is not their fault. Craft beer prices are a little high in my opinion, but wine is well priced. My wife picked up several bottles of sparkling wine for $8.99, which recently just cost her $13.99 at our local Food Lion. I will definitely return to this location and recommend it to others. Wine tastings on Fridays and Saturdays are also a plus. read more

I may be slow on the uptake so didn't totally realize what happened until I was in my car. I ordered a very specific bottle -specific vintage - online, for pickup. It was $114. My husband picked it up. When he got home I noticed the vintage was wrong so I returned it later in the day. The woman in customer service tried to convince me to just take this vintage but it wasn't the one I wanted or ordered. When she rang up the return using the bottle I was bringing back it rang up as $102.00. She then had to manually adjust it to give me a full refund. Clearly what happened was that I was charged for the wine I ordered but then given a less expensive version, hoping I wouldn't notice. I wonder how many times this has happened to unsuspecting people. I try to patronize local shops and not big chains, and this shows why. No worries. No more Total Wine for me. I live too far from one of their stores for a delivery. I was not told this while I was speaking with them. They took my order & withdrew my money after they cancelled my order. Then when I called them they said to call my bank & get my money back that way. Such poor customer service. Never again. read more

I love this Total Wine. They have the wide variety of delicious wines that you expect, but what sets this location apart is the staff. They are always helpful and friendly. There are free wine tastings here every Friday and Saturday, and my wife and I used to go every Friday. I'm a fan of this Total Wine, they have a huge selection and are conveniently located. I usually go for their sale wines because you can score some great deals when things are on special. I especially like when they sample said wines so you know what you are getting before you commit. We wanted to get a nice bottle of champagne to celebrate the birth of our son and the manager was super helpful in sharing his top picks instead of just going with the big names. The employees are always helpful and the check out employees always have a smile on their face. I will say sometimes I find it hard to navigate the store, there are so many wine options and the organization isn't always the most intuitive. When we're in North Hills, this is one of our go-to shops. Their prices are comparable to, and sometimes better than, those at local grocery stores, and the selection is much better. They have wine tastings when we're there, which is usually on the weekends, to make it easier to choose. They basically do one thing and do it very well. Some may lament the locally owned wine store, I am among them as Wine and Things was a favorite and as a business broker sold it twice. You can't beat the selection and the employees at this location do know their wines. It's not like a cold big box retailer that is staffed by people who barely know how to operate the register. I adore wine and everything revolving around wine. The Total Wine & More is not different and the location on Six Forks is WAY better than the one on Capital Blvd. The selection seems to be better, the store is cleaner, and the staff are more accommodating, at least in my experience. I love the prices at TW&M, however, I do feel that it takes away from the small wine shop feel so I find that I am not as much of a frequenter as I could be. They do have classes if you are inclined to want such things, but it does last the small wine shop feel that a number of local wine shops have with getting the one-on-one service. They do have a wide selection of "more", such as cigars, wine accessories, and gift items for the wine lover in your life. It definitely does not disappoint. read more

I have found their selections to be pretty good and their prices on par with my expectations. They claim to have a price-match guarantee, something I never tested nor felt the need to try. I've been to the TW on Capital numerous times, but hadn't been to this one until recently (which seems odd since I'm at North Hills quite a bit). It feels a lot less like a warehouse and a bit more like a wine shop. I went in looking for beer so I can't speak to the wine selection, but I was pleasantly surprised by the selection. I don't know if it was the layout or what, but it seemed like this location had a much better selection of beers. You probably won't find some of the more obscure selections like you might at one of the beer specialty stores like Tasty Beverage Co. and Bottle Revolution, but this is a good place to start if you're looking to diversify your tastes. read more

I'm not what you'd call a "wino" so I really stick to the "& More" part of the store. They have the best selection of gluten free beer and cider that I've seen in Raleigh as far as purchasing it in a store. They have all the normal brands like Woodchuck and Angry Orchard but also different varieties of things you wouldn't find in your local Harris Teeter (Crispin, Fox Barrel, and more). They have cases, six packs (both cold and not), as well as create your own six packs if you just can't decide what you want. Of course there is a huge selection of wine that someday I may peruse if I can get past all the cider choices. Obviously a huge selection of beer as well. Staff is always around to help. They have gift bags and boxes available if you need a quick gift. Also lots of fun items like cocktail napkins, even ping pong balls in case you want to play a rousing game of beer pong! read more

This is the only Total Wine store that I have ever been in. They have a great selection of wines. (have beer too, but I wasnt looking for that) All staff members that saw me looking asked if I needed help. One of the employees was very friendly and helpful and made some suggestions on wines to try after hearing what kind of wine we usually like. They were having a tasting which we took advantage of- with discounts on those wines. I spent way too much money there and found myself anxious to go back. The only down side is that since it is in a shopping plaza, parking lot very congested. If you love wine, shop here!! read more

Staff is friendly and store is very easy to navigate! Prices are very good and even cheaper then grocery stores and online stores. The reason for the 3 stars is the parking!! I spent 15 mins driving in circles trying to find a parking spot. I love this store. Staff is super helpful - seriously ask them for a recommendation on anything and they'll talk you through their picks. The selection is amazing and very extensive for both the beer and wine. They get new stuff in every week and are always mixing up what's on the shelf depending on seasonality and special releases. The best kept secret here is their complimentary wine tastings on Fridays and Saturdays. A set of different wines every week that are usually exceptionally well chosen! I almost always end up buying a bottle, just because the process of picking a wine is usually extremely overwhelming with the huge selection and they do such a great job curating some great ones. Terrible. Total Wine is always bad, but this one takes the cake. Terrible customer service. Wines are disorganized. This is a store for people who don't know wine, and are driven by write ups and scores from obscure reviewers. Last time I was there, I looked around for a bit. Wine everywhere, displays messy, prices not displayed with wine. As I walked out, I noticed there were 5 employees + a cashier. As I passed the cashier, she asked if I needed any help. Basically, the last thing they want to do is talk to customers about wine. But, if you need a shiny gift bag for $13, this is the place. read more

I can't get enough of this place! My husband and I are definitely beer people, not so much wine. (Ok, I can down a bottle of good champagne like nobody's business ) But we went in there just to look around and the beer selection is INCREDIBLE!! They also sell singles so you can build your own 6 pack and try out different varieties. I love being able to try all of North Carolina's awesome brews. The people working there are friendly as well. This is the largest Total Wine I've been to in NC & VA. I like that they have all the beers stocked by style. It makes it so easy to find the ones I'm looking for. A great selection always. Like most TW, they will have beer scattered throughout the store; you have to walk around so you don't miss something. As beer finally takes over wine in poularity they will someday have to rename these chains Total Beer & Wine. read more
