Items like mouldings and baseboard are seriously overpriced at box hardware stores. It's worth the visit to Timbertown. We've also ordered Canadian oak hardwood here and were really impressed with the consistency and length of the boards. My dad has done a number of hardwood flooring installs and commented that this was the nicest wood he's laid. We've always found the customer service at Timbertown to be friendly and helpful. The store is well laid out and easy to browse and the staff really go out of their way to offer assistance.

The THIRD time we were told the price was incorrect I did point out the price on the tag. NO. I did press the point. The woman said the objects were worth more and if I didn't agree, I could leave the items. I left the items. At first we were upset. How am I the first person to review these guys!?!? Granted, I didn't know aobut them until I was…read moretalking with a guy who is a real home-DIYer. After the big winter melt brought on by the early hot weather, we discovered a pool of water in our basement - thanks to a thin but long crack in the foundation. I've heard horror stories of getting foundation work done and how much it can end up costing, so I talked to a couple of people about it and the both recommended Con-spec, saying that I could do the work myself. At this, I laughed! I'm not the most handy type of guy, and the thought of doing this kind of work frightened me, but I was assured that Con-Spec could help out. I went to their store on Argyll and explained my situation. The helpful dude working there let me finish and then ask very specific details about the work I had to do. He then went over a couple of options and told me which one was probably the best. He then demonstrated the solution he offered (glue and seal some plugs along the crack, then come back and pick up the gun to inject the sealant) and assured me it was pretty easy....and he was right. I was able to pull off the project with just a few hours work over the course of a couple of evenings - and who knows how much money I saved by doing it myself!?!? Granted, it will take a heck of a rain storm to put my fix to the test, but it looks like it worked great (and with the grading I did outside) we should be able to weather the next bout of storms (fingers crossed). The only downside it Con-Spec is their hours - they aren't open late and not at all on weekends, so if you work regular hours, you'll have to juggle things to get there while they are open.
