I stopped here last year and got a beautiful mug. I was excited to return and purchase some other items because I love to support local artists when I'm on a trip. I drove 20 minutes south just to go here. The owner was talking with an older couple while I looked at some bowls. She said, "Those two are sold," and I thought she was talking to the couple she had been speaking to. Then, she walks right behind me and says loudly, "Those two are sold! I'll put them back." She was very rude. We quickly left and won't return. I'm not sure why you wouldn't keep sold pieces in the back, or at least be polite when someone is looking at them. As a small business owner, a decent demeanor is important. If you like to support artists, this is a great spot. I guess just hope the owner is in a good mood? read more

Friendly owner with fun, furry, store cats to pet and admire. Prices are reasonable, quality is excellent. I bought a scarf from India and a locally made hair clip with materials from France. Pleasant atmosphere. Next to other quality, independently owned shops including the Beach Daisy Wine Shop. read more

I have no doubt that the artists of this gallery are phenomenal at what they do. However, the "gallarista" Jacquee Christnot is highly unprofessional and has poor customer service skills. I first messaged the Touchstone Gallery four months ago in hopes to have a piece commissioned as a gift. This was the only way I could get in touch with a specific artist. I placed my deposit and proceeded to wait. This was in March and it is now July. I reached out once a month for an update and was not received with the kind of customer service expected from this establishment. I understand that artists have their own schedules but as the artist's liaison and gallery owner, I was taken aback at the responses I received from Jacquee. She was unapologetic and rude when I asked for updates. I even told her I understood her predicament and only hoped she could understand where my frustrations were coming from, being a paying customer with no information or product after all this time. Her responses proceeded to become shorter and increasingly impolite. In the end, I asked for my deposit back and was told that this was the "best gift" and that I had been "terrible to work with." That all being said, I DO NOT recommend Touchstone Gallery or the owner Jacquee Christnot. If you have a chance to work with the artists directly, do so. read more

This is a beautiful gallery with a large selection of high-quality art and craft works. However the owner (Jacquee) made my visit quite an experience. She was alternately chatty, rude and sarcastic. Not what one would expect from a shop owner. I won't be returning. read more

At least one of her cats will greet you at the door. They really fit in to the place and make it very homey. There's even a cat bed nearby. Her gallery has a lot of smaller pieces scattered around for you to seek out. A huge amount of beautifully done jewelry that also is very reasonably priced for all the fine workmanship. There are sushi plate sets and wonderful electrical outlet covers that have metallic designs. There are some fun little, whimsical, clay pieces and decorative glass items. This section of town actually has 4 galleries in a row so it can be very overwhelming but an artists' dream at the same time. read more

I visited the gallery today, and I saw a piece of stacked ceramic heads that I interpreted as a homage to Pacific Northwest First Nation's totem poles. I complemented the owner with "your totem is quite wonderful," She snapped back with, "THERE ARE NO TOTEM HERE - THAT WOULD BE DISRESPECTFUL - it is a tower." I made a beeline to the door to escape her negativity. She followed me out the door to tell me how wrong I was. I did not enjoy the experiences. read more

I don't normally like coast-town galleries. They seem to either be full of hot-glued seashell wind chimes, or mollusks made of of stained glass that I'd have to skip a mortgage to afford. But Yachats isn't your typical coast tourist trap, and Touchstone Gallery is unlike any beach gallery I've ever been to before. True to the town, the spirit is truly tuned to the natural beauty and appreciation of art, and you see that reflected in both the products and the gallery itself. The space is light, bright and airy, with an enchanting tree of patron notes in the center of the gallery. If you stop to contribute, you're likely to be greeted by one of the sweet gallery kitties. The selection is wonderful and full of surprises, with everything from homemade cards and jewelry to dishes and unique art pieces. Prices are shockingly reasonable, so you can leave with something beautiful without spending your whole vacation budget. Gallery owner Jacquee is super-helpful and will get your treasures home in splendid fashion, whether shipped or hand gift-wrapped. I never miss this gallery when traveling the Oregon coast. I enjoy its collection of quality art. When combined with the other galleries that share the parking area you are pretty darn sure to find art objects above and beyond the standard fare that clogs other portions of the coast. read more

Beautiful gallery and I have visited a couple times a year for years. I usually purchase something. Today when I walked in I could instantly smell a horrible smell. I couldn't decide what it was, but decided it smelled like litter box and there was a cat in the room. How does that affect people with serious allergies? I won't visit this gallery again. read more

We visited this gallery while vacationing at The Adobe Resort in Yachats, OR. The gallery is absolutely fabulous, and has many, many items of interest. It is very hard to choose from their beautiful selections! I make soap and was mostly interested in those items, and still had an extremely difficult time choosing. The owner is very friendly, very helpful, and had cats on hand to welcome us. Since I am an avid cat lover, this was delightful as her cats were very friendly. The gallery is open and airy, with lots of light to show off her collection. We plan on going back to that area specifically to visit the Touchstone Gallery - there just wasn't enough time! I hope the gallery continues to have much success, as it is a dream to visit. read more
