The best little store in Yachats. A real old fashioned general store! They've come through for me so many times over the years when I'd forgotten to bring things I needed: a flashlight, a travel candle, and most recently a charging cord. And of course I find a lot of things I don't need, too! One of my favorite t-shirts came from here; it's got their store logo, which is an adorable little steampunk anglerfish. I'm so obsessed that I got a sticker with the same logo on it this trip (also, they have a lot of awesome stickers). On top of that, the staff are super friendly and welcoming! There's one delightful woman who has been there the last couple times, and she's a joy to chat with. I wish I had asked her name. I work retail myself, and she exudes the same warmth I try to give to all of my customers, too. It's not always an easy job, but you can tell when someone genuinely wants to make customers feel at home in their space and takes pride in their job. Super cool little hardware store! The staff are very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We are renting a VRBO house nearby, and they only allow compressed wood fire logs to be burned in the fireplace. The rental house didn't provide any, so we were on a quest to find some. The nice ladies in the mercantile didn't carry any, but pointed us in the right direction to find some. There is a ton of stuff in here! So much that most likely you'll find something while perusing the store. They even have a baked goods case in front. Great little find in Yachats. If you love yourself and find yourself in Yachats, you will come get some fresh baked bread that the restaurant next door makes in their pizza oven. It's ridiculously good. You also want to grab some cheese (vampire slayer cheddar from Face Rock creamery). It's also a hardware store and a gift shop in case you need any of those things. They have an amazing collection of journals with beautiful covers that I am always tempted to buy until I remember the carton of blank journals I have at home. Lots of stickers, too. But trust me. If you love yourself you will get some bread. Self care, people. read more

Yachat's mercantile has an enormous variety of knick knacks, hardware supplies and baked goods. I found so many unique handmade items perfect for gifts for my friends/family-- huge bonus that many items are from small artists. You'll definitely find something worth your buck here, everything appears good quality and while I spent a pretty penny, it was well worth it. The man helping check us out at the counter was beyond friendly and warm. Lovely shop. read more

Best sourdough ever!!!! Made peach and Brie toast and it was amazing. Great quality of bread too and the cashier was the sweetest.

I felt that the store and its owners understood the responsibility of being a landmark and raised the bar in what it means to be a community resource. From little souvenirs to bird seed to locally-sourced smoked salmon, Yachats Mercantile has got it all! Less than 10 miles away from Cape Perepetua, adjacent to the Drift Inn, and across from the fanciful Ona Restaurant, Yachats Mercantile is not only a neighborhood staple, but very likely the glue that holds the community together. I love old-fashioned hardware stores with their broad selection of items, seemingly everything you need, and limited quantities. It has this calming effect on me, quite the opposite of the effect a big box store has. But this little store is really even more special than your usual hardware. In addition to all the stuff you need to paint, fix your hose, and install lighting, they stock crafts, handmade candles, cute kitchen items, cards, and gifts. A lot of unique, high-quality things here to browse. It's beautifully merchandised and is definitely a modern mercantile. Really worth a stop in! read more

You know it's a town when they have a "local" hardware store. It's an important place. We went in there for a hand saw because we had to cut some wood for this place we were staying at. Quality stuff and reasonably priced. We were glad it was there when we needed it. read more
