My husband booked fat tire bikes for us to ride for the day. For some reason he thought they were…read moree-bikes, which was slightly funny at the time. They clearly expected us to last maybe 2 hours tops. They gave us good direction as far as where to ride and where on the sand to stay. They gave us one bike with an adjustable seat, and one that was not adjustable. They adjusted it to fit my son, but didn't tighten it enough to keep it in place. By the time we got to the beach it was all the way down with no way to fix it. It was a very windy day, which is part of the beach experience, but it was much harder given that we are tall and the bike was too small. I felt like we were not given all the information we needed. I would not rent the bikes again.

The waves were a bit different here than more south in Newport, etc. The first day we came the reads we're 10 ft and we couldn't rent, who came blame a company for not wanting the liability and caring about your safety? No one. So, we extended our stay and came back the second day and the waves were perfect! They have an hourly and daily rental rates for surf boards, body boards, wet suits (a must in this OR water) and boots. We only rented the surf boards and they were in good condition. The price was reasonably compared to other surf shops in Oregon we've visited. Sure you can buy a foam board for a couple hundred dollars vs renting - but, this is convenient, keeps a business open, supports someones dream, and keeps money flowing in a beautiful small town - So, I'd ignore the other comment. Businesses run by making money, shocker. They had plenty of merchandise for purchase. Come with a license handy for renting. We were in and out in less than 5-10 mins with our boards. There's a beach right across the street and plenty surf spots within 30 mins or so. There's a cafe attached to the shop as well. From our 3 visits, including returning the boards, everyone was super friendly. They said they've been open for less than a year?! I hope they stick around, and this gem lasts for years to come. He hooked me up in no time, signed me up immediately, and I had a carefree easy experience with the 4 week classes once per week to get PADI Open Water Dive Certified. His fellow teammates that helped out are equally caring and make you feel extremely calm before you embark on breathing underwater for the first time. His office is at his home but he has state of the art equipment and takes you to the community pool for the classes. The open water dive is then up in the Hood Canal in Washington where you spend an amazing weekend hanging out and diving all weekend! My husband rented the life jackets anyways. We were told they were $15 to rent (with a $100 deposit on our credit card). He told us to "bring them back any time, since it was only $15 to rent." .... So, upon bringing them back, he charged us $60. He charged us $15/day per jacket, but failed to state that at all. I don't recommend this business at all. There's absolutely no reason for him to have "forgotten" to tell us it's a daily charge, especially since we asked outright. I get that people need to make a living, but this isn't how you do it folks. I'd give zero stars if I could. It seemed like this wasn't his first time "forgetting" to tell people it was a daily rental. Beware!!

You've got to book with SeaPeople…read more I loved working with Kayli at NW Women's Surf Camp - not only was I popping up and riding by the end, but I had the knowledge to safely surf. But while that have me the push to start, I was still lacking the confidence to just get out there on my own with the worry about not being good enough to take up space in the water (though I kept with it through lessons while traveling). So when SeaPeople Surf launched the totally unique progressive surf camp, I knew I had to do it. And it was EXACTLY what I needed. The film from the second class identified that in my switch to a fun board I was popping up too far back and hunched over. So I was able to start practicing that at home and then in the water. With those adjustments by the last class I was successfully riding very consistently, already getting better at turns, and successfully surfed an outside green wave after paddling the rip (thanks Billy!!). Not only was the camp a game changer and a blast, but I've now got my own wetsuit and board (with helpful advice from Kayli) and have taken the leap to paddling out on my own now.
