The week of my appointment I had severe food poisoning and I've been dealing with that since then. I get phone calls from reading and Wyomissing all the time i see Digestive disease associated and Reading Nephrology. After I missed my appointment i get a phone call from some rude staff saying I missed my appointment and if I wanted to Reschedule Id have to pay 200 bucks. I told her I was very sick atm and I had food poisoning she didn't care and quite frankly neither did I I'm on social security disability 200 bucks is a big chunk to me . I didn't get a single reminder text or phone call till after the fact and i sure as hell wont be rescheduling if they don't have any compassion for someone who has Crohn's disease then gets Food poisoning on top of that. You can get your skipped appointment fee 5 bucks at a time. Avoid this place all they care about is money

Then the day I thought I had my appointment I called and left a msg because my entire electrical system went down in my jeep. I did speak w someone on the phone and my appeals canceled. Someone called me back and left a msg that my appointment was not that day it was another. I listened to that msg at some point but did not call them back assuming they would cancel the appointment. I did not listen to the msg to entirely. I just assumed they called me back to reschedule. I called today to reschedule the appointment and they told me I had to pay $75 in order to come back there. I didn't sign anything to pay if I missed an appointment. I didn't sign call. The care of the NP left much to be desired. I still have no idea what medical diagnosis I have. I also have osteoarthritis. I see this office for that. They did not think I need my infusion. Well low and behold I broke 1 foot and then another about 2 months later

3 Aspects Reviewed: - Surgery experience…read more- ER - MRI Surgery went well AFAIK, and I am pleased with the surgeon's work, which is probably most important. 1. Found a rubber glove in my underwear after leaving - germs were probably my germs, but "Ick!" - Jennifer? 2. Had a bruised/fat lip for three days since the intubation - maybe this isn't uncommon, but it doesn't seem necessary either.  CRNA Pete said, "This isn't my first rodeo," but maybe he's not the best at rodeo.... 3. Had a sore lower right jaw - this went away after 24 hrs. 4. Anesthesiologist Dr. Gaber was great pre-op - good explanations (and talk about other drugs).  Dr. Coleman had stepped in for him, before he showed up - good department support.  Erica, the OR Nurse, appeared helpful.  General Surgeon Dr. Riccardi's visit pre-op was also a confidence booster for my family. 5. My PRIOR (open) hernia op at Reading Hosp had gone well EXCEPT the Post-Op Pain Mgmt meds were insufficient and they left me in severe pain over a weekend. So TWICE I emphasized for this operation the need to get going on the pain med script BEFORE the surgery, and twice it was ignored or turned down due to "Penn State Policy."  I explained to Dr. Riccardi that N---a is the only med that is effective now to my knowledge, and that insurance is slow to approve. She prescribed it only AFTER THE OP and insurance naturally denied it.  I was in no state to be fighting this at CVS or via phone. Informed of this denial by CVS, Dr. Riccardi switched to Tr--- without asking me...equally useless...so I used my 8-year-old stash - took just 3 pills.  Dr. Riccardi and Penn State Health DID NOT LISTEN and DID NOT HELP.  Poor Finish. NOTE: - Penn State Health's site reviews appear to be "carefully curated." Their agent, NRC Health, did NOT request a surgeon survey within "24 hours of the visit" as they pledged - that was only done for the PRE-OP visit, which is really NOT the critical point in this transaction.  Surgeon ratings based on Pre-Op consults are misleading. - Jennifer didn't seem interested in hearing about my Post-Op pain problems during the Post-Op phone call - just kept deflecting that it wasn't her area. Begs the question what this phone call is for(?). EMERGENCY ROOM - 2-Star Brought in a neighbor in distress due to heart - had three stents, over 80, couldn't stand. Much as others have written - Super busy ER with no real sense of urgency or communication. Eventually...hours later...got him in to a room. He survived and was referred for care, but St. Joe's ER could be better. MRI - 5-Star Have had four MRI's here over the last decade and they've been great. I was not sure that the equipment is up to the latest resolution, but it was far better than one I had done in Exeter and the machines are equivalent to those at Hershey MC which seems up to snuff. The techs there were helpful and provided CD's for next day review by doctors when necessary.

It was definitely not a fun experience, but fortunately I was discharged within 2 hours.

They said no just come in and drop it off. Ok I come, and realize I'm #6 on the walk in list with 11 scheduled appointments. Another walk in said she's been waiting for an hour, and at this point I've been there 30 min. So I knew being after her and with other appointments coming in that I needed to speak up and let them know I'm just here for a drop off, as I was told. One of the workers in front of everyone tries to make it seem like I'm just an impatient person hoping to cut the line. Constantly repeating "Well other people have been waiting longer than you" as well as "If you don't want to wait you needed to make an appointment". Regardless of me reiterating that I was told by them that I didn't need one. If I would've been told the right information, of course I would've made an appointment. A proper response would've been "I apologize for the incorrect information you were told, but unfortunately you do have to wait." Instead of making it seem like it's my fault I was told wrong information and in front of people trying to pin me out to be impatient. Of course I'm frustrated in knowing I'll wait over an hour to something that I was told would be in and out. Had I have gotten a nicer response, I'd wait no problem mistakes happen and there'd be no reason to write this.
