I had a good experience with Tower Hill. I made a claim because the ceiling started leaking. I had a roofer come out and paid him enough to temporarily stop any leaks, thinking it would take a while before all the wind and hail damage could be fixed. But Tower Hill responded quickly to my claim and paid all but the deductible. They even paid me for what I paid the roofer to do the temporary work. And when the work ended up costing more than they originally approved, they paid that as well and I got a whole new roof. If making a claim doesn't make the rates go up, then I am very pleased. read more

I bought my dream home. Towerhill came to my home and inspected it. They required a 4-point survey and wind mediation. They required me to replace my water heater and fix a broken glass window. They gave me a great rate and bound the coverage. One week after I closed they canceled my coverage! I was shocked! I finally found another company to insure my home. It was 60% more expensive and I wasn't budgeted for it. I can't believe it is legal to do this to a person. Shame on them! read more

They made an excuse that the building must have been constructed poorly and said as such, they do not cover "poor workmanship." Such a quick snap judgement call without even coming over to review. I have had Tower Hill in the past. No issues then. In Nov 2024 my current insurance notified me of yet ANOTHER rate increase. based on a recommendaction from a neighbor, I sought out a Tower Hill policy. I got a decent premium and signed up. THIG was paid by my mortgage company $2500+. Jan 2025 I was notified by my mortgage co that I had no insurance. I called THIG and was assured that the policy was in place. In Feb I received a "refund check from THIG for $500 less than the premium. I called my agent AND THIG and was assured that the policy was fine and not to cash the check. MONTHS later (in a challenging divorce situation) I noticed how high my mortgage payment was. Found out it was due to forced placed insurance. Called agent. On hold, intermittently, for an hour. Told that the policy was reinstated. I needed to endorse the Feb check and send them the Same amount electronically. done. Feb check BOUNCED! (Over 180 days by 2days). Called THIG. Refund in 7-14 days. Yeah...NO! Called for a Supervisor. They had to take my #do that I could receive a call back. Received call. Supervisor said pmt would be electronic. Next day: no deposit. THIG Supervisor stated that MY BANK would hold it for 3-5 days. MY BANK shows NO attempt at electronic transfer. THIG Supervisor states that "a request for electronic transfer was sent to accounting". Asked to speak to the accounting supervisor and was denied. Asked to speak to HER supervisor. Waiting for a call back. The THIG supervisor stated that there was no evidence that I called in Jan/Feb. called ins agent. THEIR access to THIG showed ALL contacts including Jan and Feb. THIG, STOP LYING TO YOUR CUSTOMERS!!! I have 20 yrs of IT experience. I KNOW an electronic transfer takes seconds NOT DAYS!!!!! BUYER BEWARE; as a Realtor of over 40 years, I have never seen such incompetence. 6 MONTHS without a KITCHEN, 5 months of NO AC/HEAT, the ceiling is falling in all along the ridge vent and I have been sending pictures of the progression, as soon as I noticed the first bubbl; the roof hasn't even been started to date. Their vendors came in and tore my kitchen/living room apart; cutting cabinets out and in mtwo, cutting drywall and throwing all my belongings from the kitchen/living area, strewn everywhere with no organization ..not even covered with plastic or anything, let alone packed up. Now everything in my home is covered in drywall dust and it's everywhere in my and my animals hair and eyes. Tower Hill is dragging its feet in "BAD FAITH" dealings; it checks every box of the meaning to describe "Bad Faith" in the insurance world. Because of the adjusters' incompetence, they now have to replace my kitchen and walls halfway into the living room. They haven't even started the roof 6 MONTHS LATER. Lowballing, intentionally "dragging their feet", lying, to the point all communication is in writing, harassment, inspections of inspections that were already done, trying to get out of paying for things that ARE covered and stated in my policy. TH Vendors are at the bottom of the bucket and outside vendors will not work with Tower Hill seeing how they do business and treat their insureds. Their last vendor in my home broke a beautiful Roman glass textured pole lamp (a set) and "misplaced" Alexa wireless plugs and other things. I now, have nowhere to sit or dine and can NOT invite anyone into my home, out of fear that they will trip and fall and all around embarrasment. I have a trail to walk through my own home and have to live in my bedroom. I have to go into town if I want to eat anything...SIX MONTHS LATER. I have an electrical panel that is a hazard and even their vendor told me that "if the roof isn't replaced, it is a fire hazard". I still have a blue tarp on my roof, and a kitchen counter (L-shaped) with mold on it, blocking the way to my door on my front porch. I have no idea when or who will fix this as the incompetent adjuster withheld updated paperwork to Itel for 12 days. FEMA even declared my home "uninhabitable" and allotted money for hotels but I thought surely my insurance company will take care of me". I thought I wouldn't need FEMA motel monies,because I had insurance. Now, the FEMA money is expired and I have nowhere to go; a disabled 75-year-old senior, with 1 cat & dog, and there are no rentals for what TH wants to allow. I don't even know how much they will allow for reconstruction of my home, because my adjuster held the paperwork for the rebuild of the kitchen/living room for 12 days just for the kitchen, all the time lying that she had already sent it. I have Itel, on a recorded call, saying the complete opposite. Every General contractor where I live (small county) says they will not work with this adjuster as they are afraid that they will not get paid and lose money, because of her erratic behavior. I am lied to all the time, stalled, and now have no other alternative than to go through arbitration and then be forced to seek compensation through the legal process in the court system just to get my home back to pre-Milton condition. So unnecessary. I have endured this harassment and mental anguish for over 6 MONTHS AND COUNTING; and I am done. I would NEVER RECOMMEND TOWER HILL, to ANYONE!! read more

They came out to do an inspection on the exterior of our home and their inspector caused damage to our roof and skirting. Proceeded to tell us that we needed to fix our roof which we did then went back on their contract and stated they wanted us to replace the whole roof. We replaced the roof ourselves and then they stated they don't accept "DIY" repairs. Then proceeded to drop us. They are scam artists and frauds! If I could post a ZERO rating for this company, I would. We were in the process of buying a house, and they agreed to provide us with homeowners insurance. They were paid directly through closing by our bank. A couple of weeks later, they cancelled us due to some issues that were on the 4 Point Mit Report although they had received that report prior to insuring us. They sent us a check to reimburse us, but they had taken out a small amount to cover the couple of weeks they did cover us. That's fine. But then they started sending invoices to say that we owed them that same amount that they had taken out. We called our bank and the insurance company and thought it had been worked out. Well, here we are 8 months later, and they sent us to COLLECTIONS for the small amount that they had taken out of our original payment. I sent documentation to show that the premium had been paid and they're arguing with me on it. It's not a large amount of money ($400), but it's the principle - why should I pay for something I already paid for???? UPDATE: sent my policy number to the THIG email in their response and got no reply. **** Shorted my policy cancellation refund. I changed policies a couple of months after getting the Tower Hill policy and called/wrote THIG to cancel. That all went pretty smoothly. Then I got my refund check. The cancellation confirmation says May 8 but the check says cancellation date May 13. I called and the customer service person played dumb so I did the math over the phone (premium / 366 days x the number of days the policy was in effect through 12:01 May 8 = more money than I was refunded). I don't appreciate being scammed. Waiting for an email from management to explain how this was calculated. If you are lucky enough to get rid of your THIG policy, check your refund check and see if you were shorted too. read more

Buyer beware.. I filed a claim for wind/ internal rain damage in Oct 2023 and they said the damage was caused by hail in 2022 (whcih was before I had a policy with them). I believe that they should have paid for the wind damage and interior damage but refused. I also question their ethics - they told me that they had not written up an estimate for the claim - when I knew they had, as the representative had already walked me through it on a previous call. Go into a relationship with TH with your eyes wide open - and be prepared to pay out of pocket. 04/12 update - so as requested by Lem P, below, I sent all the details over and 2 weeks later I haven't heard anything back - not even an acknowledgment- which again tells me everything I suspected. Tower Hill Insurance company has been good, however now they are taking advantage of homeowners especially in Florida. I've had Tower Hill for more than 2 decades without one claim until hurricane Ian in 2022 where we had minimal damage that only required a few top caps on my less than a year old roof and some soffit pieces replaced. Since then they raised my home owners insurance twice for a total of $1500. or a 70 percent increase to over $3700.00 a year. We are now in the process of selling our home because of the unaffordable rate increases just so we can keep the company flush with cash and profits. read more

WOW, I don't even know where to start. I had a delayed closing on my property, and some confusion with the closing attourney sending a check to the wrong place. Tower Hill dropped me, then picked my policy back up and back dated it my origanal closing date, which was a month before I closed on my property. After closing was pushed back, check was sent to the write place. They first refused to let me pay out of my pocket and start a new policy, and then now refuse to refund the 1 month I did not even own the property and am holding me to my first closing date. Yes there was a contract signed, but as most people know, real estate closings rarely ever are on time. Delayed a month and would not work with me on this. read more

I was a Tower hill customer in Florida for 9 years. Last year we had a lightning strike on a tree just outside the house, It damaged several electronic items. A few days later I broke a window in an unrelated incident. Tower Hill paid on the electronics claim, without any problems. They then sent me a non-renewal notice for " Excessive claims filing " . Those were the only claims that I have ever filed with Tower hill, and the only claims that I have ever filed in 26 years of home ownership. I'm fine with the non-renewal, but don't try to damage my reputation with your "Excessive claims" B.S........ My math shows that even with the claim payout you are still ahead by $ 15,000 read more

DON'T DO IT!!! Don't get homeowner's insurance from Tower Hill! They will take your money and issue a policy; THEN they will give you a list of repairs you need to make on your house. Before you can get them completed, they will cancel your insurance even though they just agreed to give you an extension. We were buying a house and of course had to get insurance. Veterans United recommended Tower Hill. Since they were funding the loan, we felt compelled to go with their recommendation. Several weeks after paying for the policy, we received a list of repairs they required be made. We were in the midst of moving to Florida from Arkansas with 4 dogs and 3 cats, and me having a heart attack which required emergency surgery, then 3 weeks later my husband had a stroke requiring a week in the hospital. And all the while Tower Hill was threatening to cancel the policy, rather than just doing an exception to the policy until we could make the repairs. Especially since they were very minor! Then they agreed to do a temporary exception until we could get the repairs completed. So what a shock when we received a letter of cancellation! So PLEASE find a reputable company, NOT TOWER HILL! This company is a real fraud. I would like to hear that someone is for real insured with them as at this moment I do not believe it happening. They advertise themselves as a very affordable insurance company, but in reality it's just a pretense because they will randomly refuse to insure without any explanations. I asked them to show me the lines in their regulations where their specific rules and limitations are written and was tossed through 6 representatives without any resolution. Not one of them knew why I was refused. They have no clue what they are doing and their requests are ridiculous. It seems to me as a bad faith behavior (that is illegal) to just make up certain scenarios so they can refuse people and that is exactly what they are doing. They should be reported to the regulatory institutions for they fraudulent actions. I will be consulting my attorney. They need to go out of business. read more

When I bought my house three years ago as a retired paramedic/firefighter, I went through Star & Shield Insurance who placed me with Tower Hill. After two years, with no claims or anything, they cancelled me (among thousands of others) to eliminate exposure. I went back to State Farm (who I had used for years before) and now understand that while they are more expensive, they will be there when it matters. I greatly regret ever leaving State Farm with my divorce to save money. You get what you pay for, and Tower Hill is not worth anything. read more

We had a water claim for which we had coverage. The beginning of the claim went great and Tower Hill was responsive. After a month, I still had no check. I left at least 8 messages for my claim handler and 2 for his manager. No one called me back. I finally called customer service who escalated my concern and got the ball rolling again. So kudos to customer service but the claims department is HORRIBLE and making the entire company look bad!!! read more

I've had Tower Hill Insurance renters policy for a couple of years. I decided to take out a renters policy through Geico where everything else is insured and called to cancel. I got told that I had to put it in writing. I sent six letters to cancel and only got a reply to the last one, after six months. They told me that it had to have the effective date of the cancelation, even though there was a date plainly at the top of the page. I sent another letter of cancelation with the effective date. I then called to speak with someone and got transferred. I was told that I would have to provide a copy of my insurance coverage with Geico. I explained to her that I'm not required to provide renter's insurance where I rent and there is no reason for me to have to provide that information. Then she explained that because my wife's name is also on the policy, they would have to send a letter to her and wait until they received an answer or no answer and wait twenty days and then they could cancel it ten days later. Since the time that I have tried cancelling this policy I have been charged another $43.00 each month for an extra seven months. So they have made an extra $301.00 just by slow walking this process. Do not, I repeat, DO NOT get insurance with this company. I am still waiting for it to be canceled. read more

I had requested a quote from Tower Hill on homeowners and sent them the information requested,roof mitigation and 4 pt inspection. The agent that had contacted me was very helpful said everything had been approved and that I would be hearing from Tower Hill. I received a reasonable quote but was not ready to decide. About a week later I received a higher quote.When I called the agent to ask why he said "He'd get back to me". He never did. I remained with my original insurance co. Today a good 3 or 4 weeks later I received a letter from Tower saying my policy with them had been cancelled due to unacceptable plumbing and electrical!! I never signed on with them;I never had a policy with them and if at any time in the future I change insurance companies,Tower would not be on my list. While I am, for the most part, pleased with the 3 desk adjusters I have been assigned for Hurricane Ian damages, I am confused as to why I am unable to log into the portal. There is now a pop up that states I must agree to the terms and conditions of a policy for next year. Along with a doubled rate increase, I am being locked out of my current policy and claim information. Yet, I receive emails informing me of updates to my claim and to log into the portal for further information. Not one person at Tower Hill has an answer as to why this pop up is there or how to get rid of it other than "just accept it and cancel later". To lock a customer out of their claim information during a very trying time doesn't instill a lot of faith to continue with Tower Hill in the future. read more

A complete lack of any customer service is causing me to dump them after 3 years. Unresponsive to communication and unwilling to take any time to actually look at individual situations. The first small sign was the failure of their paperless option. Despite repeated acceptances by me of their paperless option over a 2 year period, frequent thick envelopes were sent to me right up to the end of our relationship. On a more significant level, they began to arbitrarily add exclusions and limitations to my policy, with no reduction in premiums, based on an incorrect assumption about the age of my home. Despite having a plumber certify newness of plumbing and sending dozens of photos, Tower Hill underwriters did not listen, nor even bother to reply, much less provide a rationale. This is indicative of a company that does not care about customers, just making money. I shudder to think what filing a claim would be like with these greedheads.
