Solemnly walked up the steps and was greeted by a host. I gave the last name and he instructed me where to go. Looks like they have a few decently sized rooms. Signed the welcome book and entered the room straight to the back. As you can imagine there was a coffin in the back of the room, rows of chairs, a couple couches, those bronze hand things to hold Mass cards... Flowers etc. Looked like a nice place, comfortable and solemn feeling. I said my condolences and got out of dodge because dead bodies in a room seem weird to me. When I left the host said something pleasant, but I said, "have a nice day" and bee lined. If this is your last stop, and your family wants to traditionally display you while they hover around... I'd consider this place. Grief isn't a laughing matter, and these people seem Professional and well versed in how to handle these situations, unlike myself.

He was obviously impatient and wanted the last hour with our family and loved one "over with". Yes, a Funeral Home is a business, but not the right one for him.

We spent hours going through all of the details and not once did we feel rushed or that we were just another customer. Vito truly listened to us and helped us make some decisions we were not sure about and pointed us in the right direction with certain things. He explained everything thoroughly and I cannot recommend them enough. They did such an incredible job on everything. Very detail orientated and made sure to check all the boxes so there were no surprises or missing information so that way this transition period was as smooth as possible. The wake was extremely hard to get through as expected but the whole staff was extremely nice and accommodating. I noticed that the prayer cards had run out and one of the staff was nice enough to bring me into the office to grab more and let me choose which one I wanted since I didn't have a chance to pick one out. I chose the one with flames and an eagle since I know that would have been my father's choice. A++ stand up staff that goes above and beyond and is an absolute pleasure to deal with. They were pretty helpful to us but there were two things I did not like so I have to give it four stars and not five. My first issue was the Sunday after she passed away we showed up to the funeral home and no one was around to help us. We thought they were open for business until 4 PM but maybe that was our fault and we misunderstood things. I was not happy to put off the arrangements for one more day but when my sister spoke to the funeral director over the phone he did say we would be able to have the days we wanted for her wake and funeral which was Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. We met with the funeral director on Monday and he went over all our choices with us and explained our options. I let my family choose what they wanted to do. My family tends to be bossy specifically one of my siblings and I didn't want to cause more angst as we were grieving so I stepped back to the be the Indian and let everyone else be the chiefs. They opened up both Chapel A and B for my mom I guess they figured we'd be busy with my mom having four kids and they were right. They did a pretty good job arranging the room, and the service we held for my mom. The second thing I disliked was the make up job they did after embalming her. I felt she could have looked a little better. They made her look like she was sleeping which was good because it would have been pretty bad if she looked blue but I just disliked the make up job. They did a good job handling her burial as well. My dad wanted pall bearers but they explained that according to NYS specifically on Long Island they had to wheel the coffin and pall bearers weren't really needed except for a church service. However when it came time for them to load my mom in the hearse various family members including myself and one of my sisters helped slide the coffin out of the funeral home and into the hearse. It was pretty funny I felt like we were giving my mom a semi-comedic send off during a sad time. Overall except for the make up and a delay in availability I was happy with Fullerton and the job they did.

I've gone back and forth over the last month deciding whether to post this review. I finally…read moredecided that if it will help others alleviate some of their pain on the day of a loved ones funeral, then here is my review and advice: Although my mother was ethnically and culturally Jewish, she was not at all religious so we called and asked if they had a non-religious chapel for a secular memorial service. Kevin assured us we could have a non-religious/secular service. We then met with Kevin who showed us the neutral memorial chapel (they have another religious one next door) and he was helpful explaining all costs and coordination with cemetery. The funeral was scheduled for Monday. On Sunday the town car showed up to pick us up which freaked us out thinking they scheduled the funeral on the wrong day. Kevin apologized and owned his mistake. The town car came at correct time the next day but the driver was on the phone with (clearly) personal calls throughout the drive there and back, very unprofessional and insensitive. We had asked in initial meeting if there was a way to put up photos and they said they had large magnet boards to do photo collages. The magnets turned out to be a collection of chipped, broken, irregularly shaped chunks of old magnetic strips which looked junky and were hard to work with. New magnets would cost them $20 or less on Amazon and would be both much easier to use and more aesthetically pleasing. They told us most people prepare their photos at home but not until we were already there struggling with their crummy magnets. Had we known, we would have bought our own boards and magnets. There were trays of yarmulkes laid out and men attending funeral put them on. We specifically chose this chapel and told them we were having a nonreligious service so it caught us by surprise, We had to ask the men working to remove the trays of yarmulkes and also ask guests to remove them as my mother would have wanted. This made things weird and awkward. We were very glad to be told that the service could be live streamed for people to watch who could not attend in person. Since there was a very small number of people attending in a large chapel, I chose to stand close to them instead of at the podium up on the dais. Unfortunately, none of the men working, there standing in the room to help, ever told me beforehand that I HAD to stand at the podium, using the microphone, in order for the people watching the live stream to hear me! This was a MAJOR lack of communication on their part! I only found out I couldn't be heard on web streaming when I inquired about getting a recording of service days later and was told I would not be heard on it because I was not at the podium. I felt so sad and disappointed that others watching couldn't hear me and that I couldn't be heard on recording. I had asked days ahead of time if we could play a specific song at the end and was told by Kevin they could pull it up on Spotify to play through their speakers in chapel. After numerous failed attempts by multiple staff to try to get the song to play over speakers and then also not starting song from the beginning - which included waiting, leaving chapel to ask what's the problem, coming back in, waiting, asking again what was going on - we got a rude hostile attitude from Kevin! Ordinarily one of us would have confronted Kevin about his unprofessional attitude but not in the midst of the funeral. I finally just played the song holding my phone up to the microphone on the podium. It was an extremely awkward end to the service. Lastly, again, we chose this place because we wanted a non-religious memorial. They still draped a large cloth with a Jewish star on the coffin AND attached another one on the coffin which I had to rip off at the gravesite, leaving chunks of adhesive on the coffin, as it was lowered into the ground. We could not have been clearer from the first phone call and subsequent meeting about what my mother wanted, a non religious service. They just didn't listen or pay attention to the details! The fact that the cost of it all included obligatory "gratuities" for people working there for what was ultimately terrible service was also very disappointing. To summarize my advice to minimize stress and have things run smoothly: 1. Be very clear about religious vs. secular preference details. 2. Confirm date of service and town car. 3. Bring photos on your own boards or just bring your own magnets. Bring large photos in your own frames to display on table. 4. You must stand at podium using microphone to be heard on webcam. 5. Check sound system is working and test music is cued up properly beforehand or have music ready on your device to play into podium microphone. I hope this was helpful. My sincerest condolences to you at your time of loss.

I reaearched and gathered info on many funeral homes, taking hours. There are so many, many details to figure out, and right when you're least capable in every way of making these types of decisions... most of all, price. What can we reasonably afford, especially after dealing with a parent's long sickness? The space itself is homey, clean, and recently renovated. It's great especially for the pricing compared to every other home I saw. We had roughly 150 visitors over the course of a few visitation hours, and it didn't feel overwhelmingly populated. Note there is no audio equipment or mics, so we brought in a karaoke amo and mic of all things to deliver the eulogy, which worked perfectly. Tom really made the process as trouble free as possible. He listened to my requests with sensitivity, agreed when he felt appropriate for us, or suggested better alternatives when he felt it would help. He also coordinated seamlessly with the cemetery we chose (Maple Grove). On day of, I can only think of a one thing that was off (these things are never perfdct), and Tom remedied it immediately. I will always be indebted to you all for the compassion and service. 5 stars. And I will be sharing your names as references with my colleagues.

Our family can never thank him for the peace he has given us. My brother Glenn recently passed away in Texas. He he did not have a wife or family who could take care of his burial in Texas. I contacted Schmitt's funeral and spoke to Curt and he recommended a funeral director in El Paso TX who I was able to get my brother from the hospital morgue to a facility where he could be properly cremated and then after some veterans paperwork... We were able to have his remains shipped to New York to the Charles G Schmitt funeral home. Curt was wonderful with his staff making arrangements for my brother who is an army veteran. The thing is I haven't been in contact with my brother for over 40 years so I didn't have a lot of information and what little information I was able to provide they were able to get my brother approved to be laid to rest at the Long Island National veterans cemetery in Farmingdale. The staff at the Long Island National veterans cemetery was amazing, I was thankful for the honor guard as well as the clergy that was provided. There is no words for the value and appreciation one gets from a military service. Whether you choose to have your loved one buried in a traditional grave site or placed in an urn and put in a niche... Contact them and have a conversation and I'm sure you will be satisfied with the professionalism and sincere care that they provide.
