Bought a new pair of dress pants for an upcoming wedding party and needed the pants to be hemmed. Looked around the office and found Manuel at Town and Country to be close by. I called a couple places to get a quote on pricing and availability and Manuel had probably the best attitude and was respectful on the phone; others were very snappy and hard to understand. Located on Memorial Drive, there is a parking lot in front with easy parking access. The interior of the shop isn't much but there is a dressing room to check fits. I had a rough idea of the length of the pant legs and Manuel also gave his opinion and measured/marked on the pants where the stitching will be. It took around 2-3 days for the pants to be hemmed over a holiday weekend so timing was reasonable. It cost $16 + tax to hem both pants legs so I thought that was a reasonable price for the service. As a perfectionist, their stitching work on the inside looked slightly messy but the pants look fine on the outside so I guess it's good enough. It's my first time having to do tailor work so I didn't know what to expect but it seems like a fine job for minor tailoring work. read more

If you had asked me a month ago, I would have given them 4 or maybe even 5 stars. The work that is done is a 4/5. The pricing can be questionable at best. First time: I came in with a dress that I needed taken in a little bit. Price: $10. I found that really reasonable. Second time: I came in with two dresses (pictures posted). Price: I was originally quoted $15 for the pink dress and $18 for the black and green dress. The day I came to pick up my dresses, he rang me up for $60. I reminded him of the prices he had originally quoted me and he said "oh... okay... then $37.99." Technically $15+$18 = $33, but fine. An extra $5 is better than an extra $27. So based on the experience I had with the gross overpricing when I came to pick up my dresses, I had to take away a star. On the other hand, of the five times I came by here, I can say there were at least one (if not two) other customers here picking up or dropping off clothes for minor alterations. So other people seem to be fine with the pricing. Side note: I asked him to estimate how much sewing me a blazer from scratch would cost, and he estimated $400-$450. I had asked a lady at a dry cleaning / alterations place a few days earlier and she had estimated $60. I don't know the kind of work that she does, but those are two very different prices. read more

After moving away from the NW side of Houston, it's hard for me to continue going to my trusty tailor up North. Stephen Y needed to get some jeans altered, and I needed to get some dresses and shirts altered, so I needed to find a tailor close to where I live. I did some yelping and saw there was a little tailor shop literally 1 minute from me (I could have walked there, but I was lazy and it was hot outside). This little shop is Hispanic owned, and the guy is very nice (I think his name is Manuel?). He charged Stephen Y around $8-10 each for hemming his jeans which I thought was very reasonable. He also charged me around $8-10 altering each of my items (I had a tear in a dress that he fixed, a shirt taken in some, and straps on a dress taken in). I thought all of his prices seemed reasonable, and he takes credit card. I was not in a rush to get any of my items back, so we asked if we could come back in a week. I am sure if I wanted them back quicker, he would have been able to do that. When we went back to pick up our items, my shirt was still a little loose, so he told me that he would get his seamstress to take the shirt in more. He was very accommodating and told me to come back the next day to get my shirt. I will be coming here for all of my alteration needs! read more

Never going back, third worst customer experience in my life. Came back three times in the span of 2 weeks and this place could not get a simple hemming of a pant leg correct for the same pants after three visits. Actually, one out of the eight pant legs got done correctly. Would not recommend this place. It is a few dollars cheaper, but you get what you pay for. Recommend look else wear, QUALITY is low and incompetence level is high. Superstar high, but who knows maybe it was an off week for this establishment. What happen is outlined below: I wanted this place to be my go to tailor/alteration spot as it is close to where I live. Employees are very nice at this establishment, but when I pay for a service I expect a certain competency for the service/alteration I am requesting. Third worst customer experience in my life. I took four pairs of denim Jeans (pants) to be hemmed from 34 inseam (inches) to 30 inseam (inches). It was just a regular hem that was requested, a very simple alteration. The gentleman gave me a pick up ticket stub and told me that the alteration would take a week to complete and to come back next Saturday with the ticket stub. When I came back the following Saturday to pick up my four pairs of pants, you guessed it, the inseam was not altered to the requested inseam of 30, he stated they did them at 32 inseam. I asked him why did you put the pants at a inseam of 32 when I requested 30? The gentleman apologized and said it would be fixed/altered by Monday. I acknowledged the gentleman and said thank you, giving him a chance to redeem himself. I came back later that week to come pick up my pants. Grabbed my altered inseamed pants and confirmed with the gentleman, you altered all the pants to a 30 inseam, correct? The gentleman stated, yes. I thanked him, paid for the service he provided and left with my pants as I was in a hurry to get to where I was going. I got a surprise when I got home, you guessed it again, the incorrect inseam alteration to my pants. Measurements of inseam listed below after second visit: Pants Pair 1: Left Leg Inseam = 30 (hey, good job, got one pant leg right, but quality of stiching was horrid), Right Leg Inseam = 30.5 Pants Pair 2: Left and Right Leg Inseam = 31 Pants Pair 3: Left and Right Leg Inseam = 31 Pants Pair 4: Left Leg Inseam = 32, Right Leg Inseam = 33.5 I am not a professional talior and respect the work that taliors provide, but all I wanted was 30 inch inseam alteration to all my pant legs that I paid for! Is it that hard for a normal hem? When I came back for the final and third time. I asked for a refund, but I asked the gentelman to first measure each inseam of the pant legs. He measured and got the same measurements I listed above. He refunded my money that was a plus, but did not compensate me for my time. Did not even offer me any compensation for wasting my time, which is fine. In the end, he did actually compensate me for my time, by heming my one pant leg out of eight pant leg to the correct 30 inch inseam, that was good, but I'm going to have to give this palce a one star rating. Look else where for your alteration needs, even if the cost is a couple of dollars cheaper here. In the end I spent more money due to my time being spent going back and fourth. I don't like writing negative reviews but when you can't even do your job correctly you deserve it. I brought some pants and long sleeve shirts here to be shortened. Shirts came out ok but pants were royally messed up. There were holes at the bottom of my pants and the cuffs were not done correctly at all. Not sure how holes got there - it is as if when the pants were shortened someone got scissor happy. The cuffs were crooked and not flat. Had to come back several times and in order to fix the pants it looks like he cut material from somewhere else and made a patch to fix the holes. Just terrible. Do your self a favor and go to Oriental Tailor shop instead. read more

I have taken a few different things to this tailor for various adjustments (shortening of new pant legs, taking in dresses and skirts at the waist and sleeves, fixing dress straps, taking in a pair of formal pants). I wanted to find a shop that was decently reviewed and close to my office so that I could take care of this errand during my lunch breaks and this shop seemed to fit the bill. I have never been let down by the quality of the work - I have taken at least 6 different pieces to the shop and all have been altered without issue. The owner is very nice and remembers me when I come in, asks me how my day was, exchanges niceties which is sometimes lost today. I am not sure about standard prices for these sort of things, but a few of my requests were not as easy as shortening pant legs, so I believe everything was priced fairly, especially considering the price of buying a new pair of the same pants/the same dresses in a smaller size. I will, and have, continue to use this shop as long as he continues to deliver! read more

You kind of get what you pay for here. The tailor is incredibly nice and easy to work with which is what kept me owning back. But more times than. It the quality of the work and turnaround times were less than desirable. I started using the alterations through my cleaners. read more

I won't ever go to this place again. The first time i went was this summer. I went to pick it up when he told me it was ready, it wasn't and he asked for a few more hours. When I went back a few hours later , he kept me waiting because he couldn't find my two items. He finally found them. I decided to give him another chance and took a brand new blouse to be hemmed because it was too long. The hem is completely crooked and because of that, the blouse falls improperly. Even my 6 yr old asked "why is your shirt crooked?, don't wear that". I paid $12 for a botched hem and I won't ever do it again. read more

I'm so happy that I took my wedding dress to Memorial Tailors! I was nervous to alter the dress, but Mario explained everything to me, and even gave advice on how the dress should be altered to fit best. The bustle was absolutely perfect, along with the length and total fit. I received my wedding pictures yesterday, and I was in awe of the dress. I have also had beautiful results from night club dresses and swimwear that I took to Memorial Tailors. I will never go anywhere else! read more
