The City of Cranston holds a spot next to my heart; I lived there for 20 years…read more It has approximately 82,000 people living there and the second largest city in Rhode Island; it was the third largest up until 2017. It became a city in 1910. There are two high schools; Cranston East and Cranston West. In the western side of the city, it's a little bit more rural with nicer/larger houses; it's the ritzy side of Cranston. In the eastern side, it's more suburban to urban. I grew up in the eastern side. Schools were ok but nothing to write home about. There were plenty of things to do and very close proximity to the capital city, Providence. A popular spot is the Garden City Shopping plaza. The annual St. Mary's Feast Festival which started in 1905, is a popular event; it has a carnival, vendors, food, and fireworks. What I loved about growing up there was the diversity. Del's Lemonade is a very popular and tasty frozen lemonade; its first stand opened in Cranston. I had good memories growing up there; with everything, there are pros and cons. The overall general consensus, it is a place people want to move to.

I loved, and still love, frequenting Garden City. Love the many high school tracks you can walk on. My grandfather lived here my whole life until his passing this January. I will miss hearing the baseball and softball games at Brayton Field from his house on Brayton Ave. Highway access is great and you can be in Providence within 10 minutes and at the Mass state line within 20 minutes.

It is the third largest city in Rhode Island with approximately 82,000 people; it was the second largest up until 2017, Cranston surpassed it. I recall it being a nicely run city with surplus in tax dollars, whereas neighboring cities were in deficit. There are so many nice areas and things to do. T.F. Green Airport is the main RI airport located there. The Warwick Mall is a popular spot to go shopping. They have wonderful parks too; Warwick City Park, Rocky Point State Park, Goddard Memorial State Park, and Conimicut Point Park. There are many restaurants and bars; it's close in proximity to Cranston nd Providence. Overall a great city to live, play, and work in.

Peace harmony and…read morebooks Harmony is a peaceful village in the town of Glocester, Rhode Island. A little place as pleasant and harmonious as it's name implies. The Harmony Library is also a very pleasant, peaceful and harmonious place. Little gardens outside to sit, read or just enjoy the plants and view. Once inside the library the sense of peace and serenity continues. Lots of cool art, models of ships and plants adorn the library and there are even some comfy and cozy rocking chairs to relax in. The kids section has lots of colorful posters, toys and places to hang around and be a kid. Some creative programs for both children and adults take place around the year. Not a large library or a place to do some serious research but a pleasant little library in a pleasant little village. A nice place to find some peace, harmony and maybe even some books.

This concrete building finished in 1994 (Rhode Island bridge ID number 874) is one of the most…read moreimportant bridges in the city since it connects the heart of downtown (Kennedy Plaza and the area near City Hall) with the Rhode Island State House and the AMTRAK and MBTA train station. If you look underneath you will see public utilities running under this bridge, unlike any of the other bridges connecting downtown and the East Side, so the importance of this bridge as a connector for people, cars and utilities is paramount in Providence. During Waterfire nights, several braziers lie on both sides of this bridge, making this a nice vantage point for watching the water and fire spectacle. It is probably one of the busiest bridges since many bus routes use it to bring people from Smith Hill to downtown.

A whole lot of…read morewater Gainer Memorial Dam is a big dam. That's pretty obvious to even the most casual observer. It's 3,000 feet long, 110 feet high, and holds back almost 40 billion gallons of water. The reservoir behind the damn contains over 60% of the state's water supply. It the dam decided to break, the ground would be flooded for over twenty miles in all directions. Yep, it's a big dam that has impressive views of the reservoir and woods around it. There's some hiking trails around the reservoir but many are unmarked and go off into all directions. Still a fun place to get lost, although in the snowy weather finding a place to park is really hard because most of the parking areas aren't plowed. When the dam was completed in 1925 it was considered an engineering marvel. It has been inspected many times over the years and although modern construction methods weren't used when it was built, it is said to be able to withstand a direct hit by an earthquake up to magnitude 5.0. I guess the towns around the massive old dam just have to hope a magnitude 5.1 doesn't hit the area.

I was born and raised in the Ocean State. I lived there for 29 years. This state will always be…read morehome. Most of my family and friends still live there. I thought it was a great place to live; it's definitely not perfect and has its issues. RI is the smallest state in the US. It is bordered by Massachusetts to the North & East and Connecticut to the West. There are about 1.1 million people living there. The capital city is Providence. There are five counties, 31 towns, and 8 cities. Rhode Island is definitely rich with history. Providence has tons of restaurants and nightlife. It is home to some notable colleges and universities such as Rhode Island College, Brown University, RISD, and JWU. It's very historic and I love the East side; Thayer St., and Wickenden St. Newport is home to the gilded mansions, a historic downtown, and was a playground to the wealthy. Narragansett and most towns in South County has beautiful beaches and fresh seafood everywhere. Make a stop at the Towers, go to Galilee for fish and chips from Champlins; or buy lobster, fish, and crabs from the fish market or straight off the fishing boats. Block Island is a vacation destination; beaches and small island vibes. The western part of the state is more rural and full of forests. There are plenty of parks and trails. The Narragansett bay and Atlantic Ocean are great spots to go boating and sailing in the summer. The popular food items are wieners, clam cakes, chowder, pizza strips, Del's lemonade, coffee milk, and Italian food, to name a few. I deducted a star because I don't think it's well run; there is no fiscal solvency there. I remember seeing so many potholes that lasts years and years in my neighborhood; I'm definitely blaming the city governments for that too; our tax dollars were not being used to it's fullest. Some people may not see the Town Hall as a business, but it is…read more North Providence has their own traffic tribunal if you need to dispute a ticket or pay a fee. It's only held about twice a month, and it's very different than RITT if you've been there. I have had the disfortunte of going to both. RITT is very formal, while NPTH is very... well, informal as far as these things go. Expect to pay your ticket, along with court fees, as the judge does not often waive any. Remember, North Providence has their own court, there's probably a reason for that. As far as paying for your fees/tickets/etc, please be advised, there is a 7.50$ fee if you pay via credit card. They don't accept cash. Checks are your friends. Get there early, you'll get better parking that way.
