There is everything you need within walking distance, hair salons, drug stores, auto parts, supermarkets, bakeries, restaurants, ice cream spots, everything even two libraries. The intersection at glendale square is very busy. Please watch out for pedestrians as I mentioned, this is a very walkable neighborhood, and it is full of pedestrians reminiscent of Boston in Cambridge. The square is under renovation, streets, sidewalks, etc. at the present moment. If you're ever in Everett swing by for a peek and visit one of the shops, keep local businesses and business.

I had this on my sightseeing list for my visit to Boston, it was nice getting to check off two spots at once since I was coming to Boston Commons to start my self guided tour of the freedom trail. Embrace is the first of many sculptures you'll ended up coming across while you're on the path of the freedom trail.

"Embrace me My sweet embraceable you…read moreEmbrace me You irreplaceable you" (Ella Fitzgerald) While walking around Boston Common, we saw a large and very odd-looking rounded structure so of course we had to check it out. That's how we discovered the statue known as "The Embrace" and learned that it was a monument reflecting Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Coretta Scott King's love and time together in the city where they met. The statue is very creative, I mean how unusual is it to see a memorial dedicated to two very famous people that doesn't include their faces? Instead, the Embrace represents a hug and the greater meaning of love. The bronze monument is 20-feet tall and 25-feet wide. There are walls near the monument inscribed with quotes from the Kings, including this from Coretta Scott King: "Love is such a powerful force. It's there for everyone to embrace--that kind of unconditional love for all humankind. That is the kind of love that impels people to go into the community and try to change conditions for others, to take risks for what they believe in".

The Francis Parkman Memorial is hidden in plain sight, opposite the Brookline side of Jamaica Pond…read morenear the intersection of Francis Parkman Drive and Perkins street. Parkman was one of the first great historians of the United States, best known for The Oregon Trail and France and England in North America. He was born in Boston in 1823, and during the 1850s purchased land bordering Jamaica Pond for a summer home. The current memorial sits near the former site of his house. Parkman suffered from poor health, but was remarkably active. He rowed a boat on the pond regularly, and visited the general store on Centre st. to talk with the locals about the issues of the day. In his later years, he raised and hybridized flowers, becoming a professor of horticulture at Harvard's Bussey Institute at the Arnold Arboretum. When he died in 1893, Parkman was one of America's great men of letters. The Francis Parkman grammar school on Walk Hill street, near Forest Hills, was named in his honor. His house - Sunnyside - was removed when Jamaica Plain Park was created by Frederick Law Olmsted. Visiting the memorial requires a cautious crossing of Parkman Drive from the pond.

It's the last suburb before the woodlands and forests of Massachusetts take over. A few miles west of Boston proper, and much less hectic and much more suburban. But like many Mass suburbs, it's a town unto itself, with a centre, and feels like it. Believe it or not, the first time I came here was to visit the Kung Fu Tea, which is insanely friendly and lovely, and I've been here twice now. I've also stayed in a hotel here and explored the town a bit. It was a generic hotel, but it's anything but a generic town. Very quaint and lovely.

The process was was very quick. There's parking outside and also street parking available. Very convenient for me. Love it. Going back to pick up my marriage certificate tomorrow. It's awesome cause it represents when the…read moreBoston Marathon course starts to get consistently pretty, but it sucks cause it comes at mile 21 when yr leg muscles are battered from all of the downhills and yr glycogen has run out. According to Wikipedia, the nickname "Heartbreak Hill" originated with an event in the 1936 race. On this stretch, defending champion John A. Kelley caught race leader Ellison "Tarzan" Brown, giving Brown a consolatory pat on the shoulder as he passed. His competitive drive apparently stoked by this gesture, Tarzan Brown rallied, pulled away from Kelley, and went on to win--in the words of Boston Globe reporter Jerry Nason, "breaking Kelley's heart."

My main problem with the town is the people who work for it…read more When I moved in, I registered to vote, and updated my address at the RMV. However, the town still had the old residents listed at my location for excise tax purposes because the town was sending the old residents tax bills which I had returned to the town. As a result, the town didn't send me an excise tax bill until after it was due. I spoke to the tax collector over the phone, and was told I wouldn't be charged any late fee, and to pay online. When I paid online, I had to pay the late fee. The tax collector had lied to me because she didn't want to defend her mistake.

I've been Reading up on Massachusetts towns, and I found a lot of new ones that I want to go visit…read more One of many that I've already visited is Reading MA. It's absolutely gorgeous here. Not far from Peabody and Salem, in the north suburbs, it's being swallowed up by Boston's northwards expansion, but still retains a charm and is part of an amazing greater Boston area. Named after the important city in England that I know well, and nothing like it. A lovely and calm community with not much crime, and having friends here, I've stayed here on half a dozen locations and I'm sure I will again.

This review will not enlighten you). We did not know what to expect at Car Talk Plaza since Tom & Ray's retirement. We found the odd shaped building (thanks Yelp!), with the odd shaped elevator, and took it to the third floor expecting at best to find a locked door. However, after tapping on the door, we tried it and it miraculously opened! There was absolutely nobody in the office! Evidently Doug "the subway fugitive, not a slave to fashion, bongo boy frogman" Berman and "John 'Bugsy' Lawlor were not yet back from the Sliced Ham, Razor Clam, Cherry Jam, Rack of Lamb, Grand Slam. We thought for a moment about having a romantic interlude to the sounds of "Are We There Yet Mama?" by Kelly Clark and the Wild River Band (show number 200102). However, we became consumed inspecting all the interesting gifts and memorabilia throughout the office. Once we were sated, we signed the guest book, put a pin in the Visitor's Map, grabbed an autographed postcard (or two), and proceeded back to the odd shaped elevator and back to Harvard Square. A good time was had by all.
