Last night, I came here with a friend for dinner. I got the chicken piccata over pasta which was delicious! Generous portion and the sauce was excellent. I got a watermelon martini which was amazing. Brought a taste of summer even though there is snow on the ground! Our waitress was excellent and very nice. Even though it was busy and there were lots of people dining in, she was still friendly. I ordered an eggplant parm sub and the woman behind the bar was the least friendly to me and seemed annoyed to take my order, but she certainly gave the other patrons sitting at the bar warm service. Then the sub was a disappointment with what seemed like deep fried eggplant and hardly any sauce in it, the provolone did not have any flavor. I asked for 'not toasted bread' and the bread did not have the texture of fresh bread, it was more like previously refrigerated or frozen bread. This was one of the spots Momma Shelter was looking to eat at since she moved up to my area of the woods. Being Italian herself, there is quite a bar for an establishment to get over with her, when it comes to Italian food. Unless you flew the pasta in from Sicily fresh that morning, don't expect a good rating. I may hold places to a high standard, but she is the Willis Tower of expectation when it comes to Italian food. Food: Bacci's is around the corner from Momma Shelter's and somewhere she caught a whiff of when stopping in Stoneham once. So, naturally, we had to investigate. Momma ordered a standard Chicken Parm, and I think I got a Shrimp Scampi. Basic. Dishes that are hard to mess up for an Italian restaurant. Food came out in the right amount of time, and they were piping hot. Momma's serving looked bigger than her, and mine was a perfect amount too. Tasted very good, and Momma was quite pleased with her Chicken Parm. We both were very happy with the food. Service: Wait staff was quick, attentive, good attention to detail, and I can't remember 100%, but I don't think they put bread and oil on the table as an appetizer. That is an automatic DQ in my mother's eyes. Any Italian restaurant that forgets the bread, won't get her money ever again, which will be included in the review of another establishment I am going to review later. They got the beverages right, everything there was fine, well done. Atmosphere: Bacci's is a small place with only a few seats, but a bar with locals in it that can get a little noisy sometimes. I got the feeling that a lot more people did take-out there, than sat in and ate. One other side note was the parking can be a little tricky if you aren't familiar with the area. Best not to use the lot behind the building as that can fill up quick, but there is a lot a short walk up the street that the back lot is off of that has plenty of space in it. Overall - I would go back and eat there for a nice meal, I don't think Momma will, but oh well, was still a very good treat. :) read more

Disrespectful treatment despite being a paying customer. I had an extremely disappointing experience here. I drove into the restaurant's parking lot, asked an employee if it was okay to leave my car there while I bought some food, and was told yes. I went inside, ordered food to go, and ate it in my car in the parking lot--completely respectful and within reason. When I finished eating, I got out to throw away my trash in one of the restaurant's bins. At that point, an older man--possibly the owner or manager--approached me and began shouting at me aggressively, demanding to know what I was doing there and telling me I had to leave immediately because it was private property. I explained that I had just purchased food and was throwing away the trash from their restaurant. He calmed down slightly but continued to tell me to leave and not come back, even after I had proven I was a customer. There was absolutely no reason for the hostility. I was respectful, followed the rules, and supported the business. Being treated this way--especially after spending money there--is unacceptable. I won't be returning, and I suggest others think twice before supporting a place that treats its customers like this. read more

I am a big fan of this joint. It's the real McCoy: Italian owned and true Italian. The owner has a big old Cadillac. As a tip to out-of-towners, DO NOT waste your time, effort, and money going to the North End for Italian food because it's just a scam -mostly just a bunch of packed tourist traps and with ZERO place to park, etc. Stick with Medford places or here at Bacci's. Medford is PACKED with generations of hardcore Italians and the restaurants are legit. I always get their Fra Diablo Seafood with homemade pasta. It is huge and has tons of seafood with baby octopus and scallops and mussels and shrimps and more and it is delish. Their garlic bread comes au gratis and is the best ever. It is swimming in butter and garlic and is hot n' fresh. They have cheap and strong cocktails. And they have Keano if you're into that. A bit old-fashioned and small on the inside, but it definitely gives the feel of an old-school Italian restaurant with a local crowd. Nothing fancy, just a comfortable vibe. They started us off with complimentary garlic bread which was top notch! I will gladly pay for garlic bread so this earns them extra points for sure. Our margarita pizza was delicious as well. They had a couple of craft beer options although nothing on draft. I'm glad I gave them a try; I will definitely be back to try some of their pasta dishes. read more

This place is a gem. Heard someone talking about it when I was at J.J. Grimsby's one night maybe 6 months ago and decided to try it. Have been back 2 or 3 times a month ever since then. Loved it here! I can't believe it was our first time. It is a smaller space on the corner with limited parking in the back. However there is street parking - we found a 2 hour spot in front of church/funeral home on side street. Short walk. This is definitely a locals spot and was busy for a Friday night, if you want to support mom and pop buisness' this is your place. They have a couple screens for keno and had a very good buffalo chicken pizza. The owner clearly cares and takes pride in his business. The kind of guy I want it support. Portion sizes for food are worth the price! This will definitely be a go to spot in our books. read more

Food is delicious and the vibe is homey. Great staff and food. I am not sure what kind of addicting oil they put on the bread but the basket was gone in minutes. Bruschetta appetizer was delicious. I got the gnocchi in cream sauce and although it was extremely heavy and not for those opting for a light eating, that wasn't me last night and it was delicious. We have been to Bacci's in Stoneham three times. We found by accident looking for a place to get a bite. It's a small local Bar/restaurant located on the corner of Pleasant St and Main St in Stoneham. They have booths and tables. When you sit down they take your drink order and bring a delicious basket of toasted bread with garlic butter drizzled all over it. Delicious. The first time we started with an Apple Martini. It was very good but rather small for the price of $12.00. I ordered Chicken, Broccoli and Ziti in white wine sauce. Price $ 22.00. Hubby, his usual Veal Parmesan and Ziti. Price $26.00. The meals came and we couldn't rave enough about both dishes. I had to bring half of mine home. Hubby's was huge as well and he said it was very tender. We went a second time on a Wednesday as they have Prime Rib Wednesdays and Thursdays. He got the Prime Rib and I got the Chicken Piccata. The Prime Rib was very good, perhaps smaller than you see at other restaurants but I think price reflected the size at $ 28.95. My husband said it was very good and loved the mashed potatoes as well. My Chicken Piccata was good but not the best I have ever had. Way too much mushrooms, tomatoes for my liking and a very watery sauce. The sauce does not stick to your pasta and it's very difficult eating as the juice gets all over your clothing no matter how careful you are. I prefer a buttery lemon sauce. I ate the chicken and Ziti but left the rest. Would not get again. Price was $ 22.00. We went a third time and I got the Chicken Ziti and Broccoli I enjoyed the first time and hubby the Veal Parmesan. This time I got way less quantity than I got the first time. My husband said that his sauce was way darker and VERY acidic than the first time and dint enjoy anywhere near as much. I didn't have anything left to bring home. The Chicken Ziti and Broccoli was $22.00, The Veal Parmesan $26.00. At the higher side than other restaurants, but my line of thinking is, if you love what you got its worth it. For me, I can only say the first time was worth it. Hubby liked his Veal the first time and the Prime Rib, but said it was way too much money for what he got the third time. I guess at the end of the day I would hesitate to go back. I like one dish out of three. My husband, two. Consistency is the key to repeat patrons in any restaurant. No one wants to go to a restaurant and hope they the same quantity or quality. It might have been a fluke for us, but they are priced on the higher side and I would expect more consistency if they are going to charge those prices. read more

I am not going to bury the lead here, Bacci's is a wonderful family Italian Restaurant. They put out a meal that is as good as you can get in the North End or Federal Hill, and you don't need to hassle with parking. They have a complete menu with some surprising items, for example "Bacci's Chicken", a chicken and eggplant dish, with ricotta and a Marsala sauce. Couple that with their homemade pasta (a little more expensive, but worth it), or Grand Mariner shrimp, a tasty orange flavored dish. They also offer prime rib and some grilled specialties. The service is casual and friendly, with servers that make you feel right at home. The staff are just plain nice. This is a very casual place, so don't expect fancy. But definitely expect an amazing meal for under $30 a plate. We love this place and will keep coming back, it's a home away from home. read more

Yes, a simple 'neighborhood' watering hole, but Ray and Bob have some OUTSTANDING food purveyors. I've had the BEST shrimp scampi there ever in my life and I LOVE their steak tips! The last time I went I got a pizza to go because I left my cell phone there and it l was too snowy to get back and they had closed. Food is good, but service is awful. The older waitresses think they're above everyone and act like they're bothered when they have to do their job. You ask them a question and they mock you and talk about you right in front of you with other staff. I hadn't been there in a while because of this amd decided to just get takeout because I like they turkey tips and how they marinade them. I asked the waitress who was sitting down doing nothing where takeout was, and she rolled her eyes and pointed to the side of a very crowded bar, but dead restaurant. As I waited she preceeded to loudly talk about how no one reads signs and are lazy to the guy next to her. I should've turned around and said something to her, but my mother raised me to be classy. I later realized the sign is on the ceiling, which I don't know who would see. Food is good, but the service is so off putting I will not return and will spread the word. WOW!!! once again my family was blown away by the awesome, delicious, best-ever stuffed shells I got for Easter. I have dined in before but not recently. The dinner, I recall, was memorably good and my family living local likes their food so I was not hesitant to try them for a take-out pizza option. I called and ordered a Large (they only have one size anyway) with extra cheese, pepperoni, green peppers, onions & sliced tomato. They told me 20 mins. The pizza was ready when I arrived 23 mins later. Upon inspection of the pizza, I was immediately disappointed with the topping quality. First of all, the onions were pre-cooked (and overdone as you can see in the dark spots all over the pizza in the photo provided in my profile) which was not designated on the menu (nor what we wanted) but it was little chopped bits sparsely added. I cannot attest to the normal quality or amount of cheese but I would not exactly call the "extra" received as worthy of the extra charge. The pepperoni and tomatoes were not generous portions but the worst of the display was the peppers. I think there may have been about 5 or 6 little diced pieces of green pepper on the ENTIRE "large" pizza. The taste of the pizza is what allowed for the 3 stars as it was edible and fairly tasty, although nothing exceptional. There are plenty of places that make pizza in the area, I certainly won't be wasting my time, or money on Bacci's. read more

I have been there several times with a group, the last was today. I am hard of hearing and I asked if the Tv could be turned down as I could not hear the conversation. The waitress said, sweetie, it isn't the TV, it's the radio which was true, but beside the point. The TV had closed captions. But the radio was apparently unable to be turned down, or the staff was unwilling to do so. I go out to eat for the company more than the food and since I couldn't enjoy that I will not go there again. I've been to Bacci's previously but have never written a review. I went there last night with my girlfriend, my daughter and her fiancee for dinner. The food was excellent as always, but they seated us in a side room where there was a group of about 15 adults and children having a party. The volume was so loud you could not have a conversation at all. The waitress kept apologizing for the noise level. If I had known I would not be able to have a conversation I would have gone elsewhere. They should have closed the room off and let the people have their party and not have seated other patrons in that area. I was not the only patrons there who were upset. read more

Decided to give it another shot hoping I hit it on a bad night, we got a steak tip plate and large pizza, steak tips were supposed to be medium rare, they were more like medium and flavorless and a bit tough, pizza was ok, average at best but good if you like a very thin crust which I do.
