This Best…read moreWestern, like the one in Corbin, does not have elevators! :O It did not occur to me last time because I was put on the first floor. Why do these hotels not have elevators? Well, I think the one in Corbin must have been a converted motel (rooms that are facing towards the outside). But this hotel is actually a hotel, all the doors are within the building and so even under a buyout, it should have remained a hotel and had elevators. So odd. Last time, I guess I forgot to update the cable package. They do have the History Channel (one channel I watch for The Secrets of Skinwalker Ranch), but no Discovery Family and no Travel Channel (Paranormal Caught on Camera, if I were to stay here on Wednesday). 8/12/2025 The breakfast is replenished every hour. I went down the first time and I was only left with tater tots (which were good) and the egg beater scrambled eggs. I never eat the eggs and so, tater tots. I did see that someone was tending the food because she was the one who told me on the hour 7 a.m. (breakfast starts at 6 a.m.) that sausage and bacon would be available. 8/13/2025 The breakfast is the same (they do not rotate). This hotel also has some good baked goods, chocolate and frosted doughnuts (most hotels I find only have muffins, and not just English Muffins). Everything was good with the stay. The only inconvenience is definitely if one is placed on the second floor (no elevators).

I'm going to start…read morewith the fact that my girlfriend found and booked this place on the fact that it was cheap with a pool for our kids. The pool I mentioned also came with a hot tub.. Paint was peeling off the hot tub and the water smelled rough. After sitting in the hot tub for a bit my skin was feeling greasy as I rubbed my fingers together and it smelled a little stagnant to me. The pool was cloudy and greenish but it made the greasy feeling go away and it smelt better. The room was dirty.. Big pieces of things sitting around the edges and even wrappers and such under the dresser and bed. The heat was on and the window was open a few inches when we came in so it was hot and muggy. The microwave was sitting on top of the fridge balancing on top of a paver stone which was all pulled out from the wall a foot and in the way. I had to move it all which revealed pieces of Doritos on the floor. The bathroom was dirty around the edges and everything seemed to be half broke or put together wrong. The shower sound like it was breaking every time I moved in it.. Very loud even in bedroom as my kids were attempting to sleep. The towels looked bad.. One even had a quarter sized burn mark or something was really stuck to it that they should have just thrown it out. Look I've stayed in my fair share of cheap motels/hotels where everything was by far not perfect.. Even in those places you could tell the cleaning was done with a little pride and their maintenance was done with some professionalism. We were tired and the kids were as well by the time we got there late or we would have went and asked for a refund and found a different place spending a few more dimes. Steer clear of here unless you absolutely can't afford another place.. But at least your prepared now.

If…read moreyou're in Central Kentucky for any length of time you will hear about it sooner or later. My wife and I have driven past it for many years and always remark, "we ought to check that out one day." So today we did. It's very nice and is a full service hotel and features a dining room and bar on the ground floor. We ate at the restaurant today. It is very elegant but casual at the same time. The menu we saw was a brunch menu with breakfast and sandwiches for lunch. We had the breakfast with 2 eggs, sausage or bacon, biscuit and gravy or grits and toast all for $20. The server was a young man named Cooper and he was beyond excellent. The Castle hosts many special events, there's an outside rooftop pavilion area and permanent tent-style structures on the grounds as well. There's a nice pool for hotel guests as well. All in all a fun one of a kind stay or meal break is a must next time you're in the area.

It was frenetic and rushed. It also felt like an extended sales pitch with the price list explained for each space we were shown and also slightly off-putting to hear $, $, $ during the tour. We did hear some interesting facts, but it was a rapid fire oratory that was sometimes difficult to comprehend due to delivery speed. (Imagine drinking water from a fire hose.) We were also a bit perplexed at the info provided about the popularity of the place for events, the cost of the building materials, and then viewing the property condition which was in a sad state. We started in the ballroom, which had large ceiling water stains and poorly patched areas and then proceeded to the main hall 1st and 2nd floors and viewed fleur de lis ceiling decals peeling from the surface as well as gaping holes. Finally, we were shown a hotel room that had a distinctive musty odor and then the top floor rooftop entertainment space with peeling and bulging stucco. The outside areas were equally unimpressive with poorly maintained landscaping with extensive sod replacement and burnt boxwoods, potholed asphalt, and exterior trim with peeling paint. We were told that the 3 chandeliers in the 2nd floor were $60,000 EACH, but that isn't what we noticed. (Including photos with my review demonstrating the peeling decorative decals and multiple holes in the surrounding ceiling.) We opted to leave following the tour after considering the on site restaurant's menu based on prices and offerings. We did peruse the gift shop and it had some interesting items. We had also considered returning in the future to attend a murder mystery dinner, but have decided this is a one-and-done experience. Hoping the investor group will consider a maintenance fund for the property.
