Positive- I came here to see Lil Wayne. Easy access, overall a nice ambiance. It's not a large venue and even being in the back, I had a great view. The bar was well staffed. The seats weren't too tight thankfully Critical- The temperature was way off and the ventilation was poor. I was sweating bullets the entire time. Came here to see the Lil Wayne concert. Wanted to check this out in ATL but the tickets were around $1000 for the same seats I got at the Township for $220. So... Bought the tickets, booked a hotel and drove 3 hrs from ATL. It's a smaller venue, semi intimate but a great time, as it allowed us to be very close to Lil Wayne. They served beer, wine and liquor from some makeshift concessions but I'm not complaining because we were able to get some heavy pours. There was adequate security and police presence for the size, the concert goers came to enjoy a show and left drama behind. The venue did its job. If there's another concert that interest me and it's cheaper than Atlanta for exceptional seat... I'll be back. read more

We really loved this venue. Great acoustics, intimate atmosphere and extremely friendly staff. Us boomers love seeing bands from yesteryear in places like this. No long waits, huge crowds, or parking nightmares. Most importantly, the concert with Toad The Wet Sprocket and The Bare Naked Ladies was on time and seamless. Came here last night to see Rickey Smiley. This was my very first time coming here. Upon entering, they checked purses and had metal detectors checking everyone walking in. RCSD was also handling traffic and also walking throughout the event to keep the peace. We had a great time. Parking is very easy. We parked on the street and walked. Of course people were selling parking spaces. I never trust this because I always think they are selling parking to spaces they don't own. But anyway... This place is a little older. I can tell from the decor and the look. But it was a nice event. I will return when they have something there I want to see. read more

We saw Godsmack here in March. This is a GREAT venue! It was so nice not having to travel to Charlotte or Greenville for a show. The sound was FANTASTIC! Smaller venue, which is always nice. I was worried about parking, but parking at a local closed restaurant was cheap, easy, and close. It was a Sunday evening show, so that may have helped. Drinks and food were very reasonably priced compared to Charlotte venues. Wish more Rock shows would come here. FIVE STARS! read more

Thankful for this venue bringing nice shows to Columbia, small city but big feel! No parking issues and I don't have to worry about the huge crowds in larger cities. I patiently await on artist to visit, and they always do... I frequently visit and have never had any issues until a few weeks ago, the facility wasn't clean, popcorn bags and water bottles from a previous show, the ushers were confused about seating and program books given out at the door or upstairs " at "Off The Wall Onto The Stage". The few ushers that were working didn't seem interesting in helping (they need customer service training), $3.00 for a coke, $10.00 for a beer, popcorn cold & dry, there security check of women's purses upon entering the building, but not men who have huge jackets that could be carrying a concealed weapon, with no scanners or medal detentors in use. Rude people using cell phones during the show....Nothing is perfect but safety is rather important in the US and a concern. I love Carolina and will continue to support all of our venues. I believe once you point out a situation, the manager/owner should work on the problems, because happy customers will bring more happy customers! read more

Not A Bad Seat In The House! A very intimate venue- This place gives you a nice comfortable feeling. I believe someone said it seats over 3000 people?? yet it still gives you a nice intimate feeling, I don't think there is a bad seat in the house! The auditorium is 80 years old- after a recent renovation the building is pretty spectacular! The staff are super nice and helpful- you can tell they take pride in their jobs! We went to see the "Fall Brawl" boxing match sponsored by Palmetto Boxing. The show was a blast! Very well organized and very entertaining, if ya like to watch the barbarian escapade of two men trying to pound each other silly? YEAH! :) It was a fun and entertaining evening in a very nice venue! Another cool thing about the building are the billings of previous shows that decorate the walls- This place has a real history! It's nice to walk around and imagine what it was like on the different nights of each of the shows... read more

a drunk lady in the 1st row stood up and waved her hands all night and blocked any view i had of Dancing with the Stars. Everyone else had common courtesy to sit during the show. i couldnt video or take pics because of her, and everyone asked her to sit down but she refused. Went and told security and a cop and they said shes at a show and can do what she wants, so i basically threw away $500 on 2nd row seats. read more

A very nice small venue that has a lot of great artists that have played here recently like Grace Potter and Old Crow Medicine Show! Parking is not really that great and can vary in my experience. My biggest pet peeve is paying 11.00-12.00 for a Bud light or Corona in a can. We are not in Boston here guys don't charge so much money for crap beer. If I'm paying that much I would rather be drinking local S.C ales from Charleston or Cola. The mixed drinks don't get any better take a page from the Nickelodeon and serve better drinks were not in high school anymore. Quality snacks and quality beers go along way with me when I already paid a lot for my concert ticket I want top notch stuff. Doing a few simple things will easily get more people in the door and make them happy! read more

Came here too see a play 'Guess Who Showed Up At Dinner'. While the play was great they need to do some upgrades to the facility. The play was amazing can't wait until the writer has another one. Special part it was V-day weekend, super special. read more

Not a bad venue overall. Relatively clean and well kept, considering its age. The most ridiculous thing was the cost of drinks-very unreasonably pricey compared to other music venues! Also, we were not told wine or liquor wasn't allowed on the floor until AFTER we had ordered our drinks. Very bizarre practice since they allow beers on the floor, but oh well! read more

Pretty good little concert place (we went to see Yo Gabba Gabba). It was pretty hard for my son to see over peoples heads since we had floor seats. Also the parking SUCKS! Get there early to find a space - a lot of shady people selling parking spaces for $10 we were pretty nervous our car was going to get towed or broken into - but thankfully it turned out okay. read more

Very cool old venue. Only problem is there isn't much surrounding the building - no bars/restaurants. Also, the acoustics were off.

I love this place, it's probably the best venue in Columbia, but the drinks are overpriced, and the tickets tend to be on the pricey side too. They could benefit from more parking, and hopefully some cool restaurants will open nearby. I like that they bring in a lot of acts that are not quite "big enough" to play arenas, and there really isn't a bad seat in the house. read more

I have attended two events here. The acoustics are phenomenal; which rivals that of comparable regional venues. The Township is a gem right in downtown Columbia, SC. Built in the 1930's and renovated in 2010. read more

Nice venue in Columbia that it's too bad more musical acts or other shows are not booked here. Not sure what the auditorium looked like pre-renovation, but interior looks nice and new (from the lobby standpoint). I was their for Runaway Runway last night and looks like they are able to change the floor design to go along with whatever is booked for that night. They have kept some of the memorabilia around promoting some of the shows throughout the Township's existence, along with some of the seating that was used pre-renovation. Speaking of seating - not everyone is a size 2. For those of us that are slightly over being "skinny" seating was very uncomfortable, which could make for a long show if you are not comfortable. read more

Horrible. Absolutely horrible. The security here decided they wouldn't do their jobs. People stand in seats and in the aisles regardless of where their seats are and security doesn't tell them to sit down. Fire hazard and waste of my money. I won't be back. read more

The township is a great venue. Not to big, not to small. Most seats are good no matter where you are. Not quite big enough for a screen, but the sound is good. Beers expensive, and sometimes hot. read more

Great venue. The music sounded great. There isn't a "bad" seat. Beer prices are average for a concert. Only downside was that most of the vendors were cash only, so I had to walk to the first level. I enjoyed the walk though, as the brick interior is beautiful. read more

I started going to The Township around 1970 to see bands like Pink Floyd, Frank Zappa and Alice Cooper. It's hard to believe that tickets for these concerts only cost $4.00 back then. I have also seen some other great acts there like David Copperfield and Gallagher over the years. The auditorium has a very intimate setting and a 2nd floor balcony with out a bad seat in the house. Horrible experience. Attended "The Price Is Right" on March 19th. Staff was standing around and nobody knew what to do. The lines were long with no direction and people were pushing to get into only one door they had open for registration. Once we got in the auditorium to register, they herded us back out the side door to only stand in line again at showtime. Elderly and handicapped people were forced to go down stairs and they wouldn't even let you use the bathroom before being escorted outside. I will never go back. read more

Not a bad venue. The update is still fresh. But the very tight seats on the sides of the first balcony should be avoided. They are at a 90 degree angle to the stage. So you have to lean forward and turn the whole concert. It's a pain it the neck. Also bring cash if you want a $10 can of beer, they don't take cards. read more
