Because of that…read moreconnection, I hesitated to write this review, but after 2 years I've come to realize that staying silent does a disservice to anyone else considering him as a stylist. He scheduled me as his very first appointment of the day, yet arrived 10 minutes late and then spent another 10 minutes in the back handling personal matters before bringing me to his chair. That meant 20 minutes were taken from my appointment, which unfortunately impacted my results negatively. I went in for blonde highlights, specifically to touch up about an inch of new growth at the roots. I made it very clear that the front of my hair, around my face, is where I wanted plenty of blonde highlights, I even showed him multiple photos. He assured me he understood. But as you can see in the first AFTER photo, the front had virtually no highlights - It was dark, with warm, reddish strands where he had removed the foils too early because his next client had arrived. Now remember, he was already 20 minutes behind because of his late start. Instead of allowing my highlights the proper processing time, he rushed me out the door to keep on schedule. When I pointed out the darkness in the front, he brushed it off, saying it would look lighter once dry. Of course, it didn't. When I arrived home I sent him the photo to show the issue, and his response was: "Just come back and I'll throw some more highlights in the front." That should have been done during the 3 hours I was already in his chair. There was no way I was going to risk letting him work on my hair again. I ended up paying another stylist (different salon) to properly highlight the front, as shown in the second AFTER photo. If James had shown any integrity, he would have at least offered a partial refund--but he never did. The most disappointing part is that I was referred to him by his own family member. The stylist made me feel very bad about being there and she went on to lecture me that she was booked "way out" and did not "squeeze" people in. I don't think I have ever asked to be squeezed in. When I left, I gave her a good tip (I don't know why) because she wouldn't even comment or offer suggestions for a future color for my hair. I won't be back again because I felt very bad about the whole thing....1) the lact of communication for the person who scheduled me, 2) the unfriendly attitude of the person styling my hair, and 3) undeservedly lecturing me.

I came to Nicole over a year ago looking to find someone who understood my hair type and who would be able to cut it in a way that would enhance it's natural waves and curls with little to no effort on my part. I am very low maintenance yet I am very finicky about my hair. I don't want to have to spend hours working on it, but I want it to look good. I explained all this to Nicole up front and even expressed my fear of getting a bad cut because I have had so many before. Not only did Nicole actually LISTEN to everything I had to say and take it to heart, based on what I told her I was looking for (low maintenance but looks great) she was able to give me the best haircut I have had since my last favorite stylist left (who, coincidentally was also an employee of Embrace). Nicole took her time, explained what she was doing, asked me what I thought about this and that throughout the cut and kept me as involved in the process as she was. Not once did I feel like I was in anything but capable hands and at the end I was completely in love with my hair cut. She styled it beautifully and explained to me what she was doing so I could do it myself at home. I love Nicole! Nicole works at Embrace, so I love Embrace! Another bonus are the products they use. Euphora is a wonderful organic line that makes my hair feel so soft and healthy and it smells wonderful. Everytime I come home from getting my hair done my boyfriend asks me if I am wearing new perfume because I smell so good. Embrace is definitely one of my favorites!
