Now that I live in a much bigger city in a much bigger state, I do understand that the Lakewood Mall is surely lacking. However, I still see friends and family on Facebook talk about their experiences there and it always brings a smile to my face. I would love to see this mall thrive by getting some new stores that get more youngsters to come in. Many feel that Sioux Falls has great shopping, and compared to Aberdeen, that may be true. However, there are plenty of stores chains that can be found in small towns that have yet to hit Aberdeen. I remember as a teen, going to the Gap or to American Eagle was all the rage. I bet if Aberdeen got one of those stores, they would do very well. Perhaps the shopping power of teens and young adults is underestimated by the town? Or do those stores have regulations against where their stores can be located? You'll find the basics that you need just not the variety. And hit up Taco Johns - they don't have those on the West Coast and that makes me sad. Can you say "potato ole?" Bottom line, if you live in Aberdeen and want a better mall, do something to make it happen. And if not, then appreciate what you have because it could be worse - you could be without a Bath and Body Works and THEN what would you do??.

The styles are very bland, the layout looks pretty thrown together and the customer service is blah. I've yet to cross a worker who conveys any enjoyment for their job. You may be (but shouldn't be) surprised how that effects business. Last time I went, I only did because it was Crazy Days and I stop most places in the mall. I found one rack of jeans while shopping for my boyfriend . ..Levis...in men's wear. Other than that, a bunch of slacks. I looked all over and the nearest variety of jeans (and I'm talking on and off sale) was in Boys. I ended up spending $78 on a pair at the Buckle because it wasn't just sales I was after but choices and quality; something he'd like. I hope service and selection can improve so the store can make a go of it.

Maurices is my favorite local clothing store. I would give five stars but occasionally (though…read moreseldom) when I go in I'm not greeted at all until at the register. With that said, 90% of the time the staff are awesome, very helpful. I nearly never have to ask for a dressing room as they are on it quickly and generally ready to give their honest opinion on your clothing considerations, if asked. They've had my regular business for years and will continue to!
