No LP for one reason. No training and no parts on the tanks. Go figure. What next?

I live in Camden South Carolina. So happy to have Petsense nearby. I love to spoil my dog and the…read morestore makes it really easy. Grooming here is wonderful. My dog gets anxious pretty easily, but PetSense makes it so easy for her. It's a quiet, OK relaxed place. She loves Ashley, her groomer, who I appreciate immensely.

Unfortunately, I must rate Petsence 3 stars instead of 5 stars. Mainly, if you're going to make a…read moredecision, at least communicate that decision. Each time I visited, the cashier asked me to do a review. But, now that Petsense had a 5 star review, their attitude toward me and my dog changed for the worse. I called to make an appointment just to get my dog's paw pads shaved and goopies under her eyes cleaned up. Sookie, as usual, had gone back to our home in Texas, our permanent address, as she has been doing for 4 years, since my husband is a Federal worker here in SC. Until he retires, we are living in two places. When we returned from Texas and I called grooming, the lady said, "I will put a note on their desk and Nadia will call you before she leaves today." Usually, the scheduler makes an appointment right away. Though I found this curious, I believed Nadia would call. But I didn't receive a call. This may relate to Nadia's question at the last "Feet, Face and Fanny visit, "Does Sookie have a heart murmur?" I said, "Yes," it's mild. All these years Petsence knew she had a mild heart murmur. I told them, and I checked the screen once and saw it noted in her record. It's so mild that her cardiologist at CVETS said it's almost non-existent. I don't want you to limit her in any way. Nadia said she'd accept a note from her and work with me as long as I bathe her before she comes, as I did that day. This time, when Sookie was in Texas, her groomer had given her a bath and a summer shave, number 5, the veterinarian did her nails, and I only needed the face touched up and paw pads shaved. The groomer offered to do her nails because she said she's fine with it, but I said we will wait because she just had her teeth cleaned. And she probably still had some anesthesia in her body. If Sookie can travel by car from SC to Texas, although we do rest in a hotel, go under light anesthesia due to being a senior pet, get her teeth cleaned and a tooth extracted while awake, handle the pressure of the water for her aerobics at CVETS, cleared by the cardiologist, get a full grooming and bath in Texas after being under anesthesia, she can get her paw pads shaved and goopies cleaned without dropping dead. Sookie doesn't care about dogs barking. These days she views them with utter curiosity and doesn't get upset. Nadia said she had a dog die in grooming. Sookie isn't even on medication for the mild heart murmur. So, I don't think she's going to collapse under the "stress" of getting her paw pads shaved in what is always a grooming section where she is expressed through and not even near dogs in the back. I always wonder about how elderly people are treated and how we may view aging in animals and ourselves. The way we view aging sometimes borders on ageism, which shouldn't be, since, as someone once said, "When we are born, we start to die, and we are either dead or aging. I'd rather be aging." With modern veterinarian care, home care and good food pets are living longer. Should we stop caring for them as they age? No. Check Genesis 9:8-17, the Noahic Covenant. Next time you see a rainbow, remember animals were included in the covenant God made with humans. Ruling over animals means to be stewards not to "Lord" it over them.

Prices tend to run higher than what I usually see at PetSmart or Petco, and the store has a noticeably smaller inventory. If you have pets with allergies or special dietary needs, the selection can feel pretty limited. The staff is friendly enough, but overall the store could benefit from expanding its product range and offering more competitive pricing.

The manager of Petsense is not only a big animal lover, but makes a sterling effort to support pet lovers in the community. He allows and encourages animal support groups, like LASS the SPCA and other groups to run animal adoption days throughout each month. Group volunteers bring cats and dogs in to meet customers and local residents, hoping that the animals will be adopted into good homes. Petsense regularly displays and cares for 6 - 9 cats for adoption. The cats are clean, have their shots, are spayed/neutered and have demonstrated their domesticity. For a notional fee they are ready to go home. In addition, if you are looking for pet care advise, Petsense in the place to ask. Very cooperative employees are readily on-hand and love to talk about pets. It is so nice to find such a compassionate and caring animal support and supporters right along Highway 9 in Lancaster.

They could have left the situation as is, but instead the staff contacted the owner and they made it right. There are not many businesses that will do that anymore, and for that reason alone I would have given them five stars. Additionally, the staff was very knowledgeable about the birds they were selling, the store was clean and organized, and prices were very reasonable. Thanks for a great experience.

I cannot say so much about the lady. she seemed to be the one in charge, but she did not greet us nor ask us if we needed any assistance. all while playing on her cell phone while sitting behind the counter. My fiance went to pick a rabbit up ( we own three and WERE considering adopting from there) and the rabbits nails were so long they cut him and got stuck into his shirt. we politely informed the lady at the front desk that the nails should be trimmed as it can cause health issues later in life. She very rudely let us know that they don't do that there and that there isn't anyone certified to do that. That statement didn't make any sense to us considering we do all of our pet maintenance ourselves. to which she replied she doesn't even cut her own animals nails. I will say thank you to the other person on shift for picking out the few large crickets they had left, but I'm ashamed of the way this establishment allows their employees to treat customers. We have 10 pets and could potentially be regular customers, but this store has lost my business completely. will not shop at another pet lovers any time soon. I would suggest "certifying" some people to trim nails.
