Great service! Nice people. Used the curbside pickup and they came out promptly and were friendly.

    Pet Haven Veterinary Hospital

    Pet Haven Veterinary Hospital

Pet Haven works directly with the Chilton County Humane Society, performing all the vaccinations,…read morespaying, and neutering of outgoing adopted pets. On Tuesday, I adopted a kitten, but was told I couldn't take him home until he'd been spayed or neutered. First of all, the kitten I was adopting was very very young (paperwork claimed 8 weeks) and only weighed 2 lbs. Shelters that actually care about the welfare of the animals would have a new owner pay the spay/neuter fee and sign a contract stating that they'll have the procedure done at 4-6 months. Not this shelter. When I picked him up, something wasn't right. He wouldn't eat/drink and looked like he was dying. I took him to Pet Haven the following day and asked that they test him for worms, parasites, and bacterial infections. They claimed he was clean/clear and simply traumatized. They inserted water packets under his skin and gave me anti-diarrhea medication and a nutritional supplement. One week later, he died in my lap on the way to Cox Veterinary Hospital (at this point, I didn't trust Pet Haven). The new vet told me he died from an upper respiratory infection and that I needed to go home and check on my other kitty because chances were he'd gotten her sick. Soon after, I noticed my other kitty getting sick. I was given antibiotics and an eye ointment to give to her and she's recovering nicely. The vet and techs at Cox Veterinary Hospital told me that most shelter animals carry illnesses and it's completely wrong to put a feral cat through surgery with a compromised immune system at such a young age (and underweight) without also giving them antibiotics. So my official warning to anyone thinking of taking their animal to Pet Haven: They will make you feel like they care about your animal, they will give you bad advice and may not even run the tests you ask them to run (but they'll still charge you for them). They are willing to put weak little strays through surgery without taking any necessary precautions to ensure their safety. And there is a very common term for what they're doing over there: "malpractice". Also, if you're going to adopt from Chilton County, do NOT adopt anything younger than 4-6 months, or just go to Montgomery Humane Society (a utopia, comparatively). Find a shelter & a vet that actually cares about animals. And go to Cox. Not Pet Haven. Their office may look nice, but it's because they were forced to move into a newer building for sanitation purposes, as far as word on the street goes. My little kitten was so amazing. He fought hard to stay alive and I stayed awake with him all night as he spiraled downhill at an unbelievable rate. I tried to get to Cox right when they opened, but it was too late. I'm also putting out a tribute to little Castor (the kitten) on YouTube that will be published on December 3rd. I'll edit this review to post the link. STAY AWAY FROM PET HAVEN.

He gave my fur baby something to calm her, took xrays and confirmed a greenstick fracture. He gave instructions on how to care for her, a timeline, medicine and he stayed in the room with us until my pup came out of her sedation. I do recommend Dr Forrest and would use his clinic again.

The vet is a very old man who is friendly. His assistant however is not. she tried to draw blood without a turnicet. Which was stupid. Missed the vein and kept shoving the needle deeper in. Well of course you got bit. Then she started throwing thing around and slamming things. She got blood all over my dog, and when she pulled back already afraid of her. She threw down the gauze and said Well just stay covered in blood and stormed out of the room. They are not good with cats at all that we could tell from taking ours. The prices are absolutely ridiculous and they do whatever they can to get as much money out of you as they can. Even if it means doing something to your animal that is completely uneccessary. My dog and now my aunts dogs are going to my old Vet before I moved. If you love your animal don't take them to this establishment. Take them to Pelham Animal Clinic to see Dr. Carr. He is wonderful and your pets get the best experience for the fairest price.
