We were looking to remove an old chain link fence (with lots of brush grown in & around) and replace with a double-sided, capped traditional fence with a few gates. I researched 20+ companies and reached out for bids to at least 10; some ghosting or never responding. ABF's request form gathered enough information that they could provide me a pretty accurate budget right off the bat before even coming on-site! I appreciated that they then sent someone out once I confirmed the tentative budget and we chatted more about details and firmed up the numbers and project design. He even measured our car to make sure our drive-in spot was the correct length! The PgM gave honest answers about which materials we should invest in vs. where we could save. The building team did a great job with solid craftsmanship. We even asked if they could help connect our neighbor's fence and we thought we would come out to see a few patched boards... but they connected the fence in the same style as ours with a cap etc. which looked really nice. Our neighbor even reached out to see if they could get their contact info to fix their fence! The PgM was on site every day to check-in with the crew and us and addressed any concerns quickly. Once the project was complete the PgM came back out to inspect the work, marking a few boards to replace that we didn't even see fault with - definitely an eye for attention to detail which we appreciated!

I called and asked for feedback about why this happened and did not hear back. -They came out to give me an estimate and assess the needed repairs - happy to move fwd, they sent me a contract - AFTER I signed the contract, they changed the availability timeframe that THEY gave me. - I asked for them to work with me on providing an earlier date. - I received an email that they have decided to not pursue our project and that it was not a good fit and they were withdrawing the contract. No reason, or details, just that it was not a "good fit" One of the main reasons I went with them was because I was told the project would not take long and could be done sooner and in a couple days. I asked for feedback as to why my contract / project was suddenly terminated. I was hoping they would compromise and offer me dates in between - no response, and no alternate dates given. To be clear, Oscar was very nice and friendly at his onsite assessment and answered a lot of good questions. This kind of response did not match his service focused demeanor. I was told my project was a small / quick one that would not take long, in comparison to their other large projects. The new date they offered would have us without a safe deck for almost 2 months, and a house full of guests in the middle of sum-mer. Surely this is not the first time this has happened with a customer when you verbally state your availability and then it changes ? I had hoped they would be able to come back and at least compromise & offer alternative dates, instead of throwing away the project all together. This made me feel that perhaps because my project was small and would not bring in a lot of $$ for them, it was easier to just dismiss me, and terminate any work. Please do better SkyDeck -- please try to work with your customers, offer options and talk things out, instead of just cutting them off. Maybe if I was a bigger / more expensive project, I would have been given this consideration.
