Norm on "Cheers" famously mocked a guy for spending 11 hours at the bar, and there's some of that energy with the current spate of "my panicked pre-snow grocery trip is pragmatic, yours is foolish." Yet as a Dekalb fanatic who often stops by, I don't mind pointing out the surprising depletion of fennel and samosa burritos in advance of the one-day storm. It's not exactly 30 Days of Night. My own paranoid weather-related purchase was vanilla cardamom cold brew. I feel reasonably alert after imbibing. The shelves were emptier than usual but the workers were superb, as always. Wow talk about night and day! This location is way better than the Court street location. The aisles are more spacious and they are labeled to specify the content of each aisle. My coworkers got me a gift card as a birthday gift so I managed to purchase pasta sauce, a bag of pasta, and Maple corn kettle popcorn for under $10. The checkout lines were sort of long but moved quickly. There's an employee overseeing the lines to direct the next person in line to a specific checkout counter. I will return here in the near future to grab some body scrub, cereal, pasta, etc. read more

Extremely disorganized and messy- so much so that their manager yells at people for going to the wrong register, after being flagged by the cashier to come over. No apology, nothing. When you wait in line they send other people in front of you that have crept into parallel lines. Extremely disappointing because Trader Joe's has always been my favorite grocery store. read more

I don't do traders joes that often. Probably a few times a year but it's always a seamless experience. I take my backpack and a tote or two and pick up whatever items I need. I usually create a list cause if not I'll come home with all kinds of thangs! I do have a few go-tos! I'm obsessed with their coconut water, frozen dumplings. I love picking up cheeses and cured meats and crackers for late night snacking. And my dad is obsessed with their sardines, tuna and canned pink salmon. I also enjoy their seasonal sparkling beverages. The honey crisp apple drink is not too sweet and has light bubbles. I also love Trader Joe's for gifting myself a bouquet of flowers. They're reasonable in price and sometimes a bye a few and create a larger more opulent bouquet. I also like their eucalyptus even though I think they could be a lil strangely lol It would be nice if the bundle were a little fuller but the checkout experience is always well organized and speedy! A Trader Joe's attached to the Dekalb Market Hall...perfection! After dinner we popped inside and grabbed a few goodies to take to our hotel for the week. This TJ's was packed! What impressed me most was the line management...the staff had us moving like a smooth, human conveyor belt! We were in and out in no time, despite it appearing like it would be forever in line. Although set in the basement, this TJ's is quick, efficient, and really well located for me. It's usually busy in the normal busy times, but within the first hour of opening, it is super peaceful and civil to shop in. Regardless, the line moves fast, and the workers have that characteristic TJ's patience and charm. I highly recommend this location if it's convenient for you. I love Trader Joe's but my friend had never been to one before. Naturally, we had to rectify this egregious oversight immediately (BEGONE TJ virginity!!). So there we were, marching into TJ's, ready to explore and grab a couple of items. First off, the frozen food selection is a lifesaver. Can we take a moment to appreciate how thankful college students should be that this place exists? Seriously, this is the unofficial cafeteria for half my friends. Need a meal? Trader Joe's. Need a snack? Trader Joe's. Need to procrastinate on homework? Trader Joe's. Now, this particular location is pretty busy, which makes sense because it's a mecca of affordable, delicious food. The place was buzzing with people, all on their own grocery quests. It was like a scene from a supermarket safari, but instead of hunting wild animals, we were all hunting for Mandarin Orange Chicken and Cookie Butter. I am very glad that I got peanut butter and jelly duokit at this branch. Only three boxes left. I took it all. Lol I finally get to try this famous peanut butter brookie. It is insanely delicious. Top part is peanut butter cookies. The combo is complement to each other. Not overly sweet. It goes really well with black coffee. Please grab this when you go to tj. I like the can goods the best purchased Tuna, olives, sardines, anchovies etc. I also purchase some produce tomatoes, Cherries,cucumbers, apples all very fresh. It's Trader's Joe. Just like their other locations, they have the same stuff except I feel that this location has less cheese options. I found mini Brie bites, though. They're 4 for $5.99. So tempting. I bought them and ate two as soon as I got home. This location is in city point! You have to go in Dekalb market and downstairs to find it. Not really my favorite location and today proved why. Imagine my surprise when I was instructed to step forward from the line into the area in the middle where you wait to be called to the till. As I'm walking up with my hand cart looped around my arm this employee comes rushing up to squeeze between me and the person in front of me ?? He bumps my hard cart because he wasn't moving fast enough to jump the line since I was already in motion after being instructed to move up. Of course, he apologizes for hitting the hand cart back into my body but the biggest sin was you jumping in front of me in the first place. Like girl the nerve. There wasn't even anyone behind me for him to jump in front of me. You could've saved the hassle and got behind me. That really PMO. I'm very familiar with TJ's employees squeezing into the line but not in the capacity in which he did it. read more

Of all the Trader Joe's this one is my least favorite (it's below ground in a shopping center) and I still think quite highly of it. The staff are incredibly helpful and friendly and I always feel comfortable asking them for help or just to chat about a product. Shout out to Peter for explaining the difference between all their eggs! Brown eggs versus white eggs are based on the chicken's earlobes- fascinating! I do have to detract a star for their lackluster produce section- the quality just isn't there. I could not find satisfactory zucchini, snap peas and asparagus. They did not have the peanut butter filled pretzels in stock and even more saddening, they didn't know when they would have it back. Bathrooms were clean and water fountains were functioning. Close to a ton of different public transit options! Prices are overall reasonable for most items. Another shoutout to my cashier Kelly who greeted me with a smile and chatted about fun topics while my groceries were being checked out, thanks for bringing joy to something mundane! read more

I prefer this Trader Joe's over the one in Cobble Hill. On the weekends, I noticed that one always has a line outside. This Trader Joe's is conveniently located next to the Dekalb (B,Q,R) train station. Even though it was crowded on Sunday morning, I didn't wait long on the checkout line. The shelves are always fully stocked. My favorite item to get is the bag of frozen organic fruits ($2.79). It is cheaper than KeyFood and Stop and Shop even when it's on sale. I've been to TJs a lot let me tell ya and the music isn't something I usually notice, but this day the music was on point! The lines were kind of long, but moving steady. When I got to the front I think one of the managers behind the counter, named Mia was jamming, feeling the music and giving off really good energy as she was helping customers with questions. This is a nearby Trader Joe's that I went to a lot. It's pretty hidden that is underground floor. The first time I spent a few minutes to figure out the right entrance. It's located next to a food court. So it's very convenient overall. This store has a pretty decent amount of inventory that I don't need to worry 'out of stock' situations like I experienced in their other locations such as Manhattan. Staff is very well trained, fast, and friendly. Love the vibe here. My favorite food is the soy milk, and grapes. read more

Trader Joe's never disappoints in my opinion. Yes as you can expect, it gets crazy busy at popular times aka the checkout lines can be long. They have done their best to mitigate and there's literally a conductor on a step stool monitoring which cashier is ready to tell the next customer so it moves as fast as it can. They have everything you'd want at a TJ's: when you walk in it's the floral section, then produce, then prepared foods, frozen, chips, home then meat and beverages. This is my go-to TJ's and I believe the most efficient-costumer service of all the TJ's in Brooklyn and Manhattan. Unlike many TJ's, this store has three lines to checkout and the TJ workers pay attention to customers' questions and shopping experience. During rush hours (1-3pm & 7-9pm) there are twenty-plus Checkout Cashiers humming like a fine-oiled machine. The store is located in the food-court basement of Dekalb Mall, next to Katz's Deli. So if shoppers need a break from shopping at TJ, they can relax and sample all the different food stations, from Pizza to Ramen noodles to Jerked chicken. read more

I love this location of TJ's and shop here for most.. if not for all of my groceries. During the weekends (particularly Sundays) and Mondays (if its a holiday) you can find the shelves mostly empty and long check out lines. I've been visting this TJ's since the covid era and the check out line process has always remained consistent. The staff is almost always friendly and efficient. The store is always clean and well kept. I have finally found the times that work for me to visit the store so that I'm able to purchase fully stocked goods and not have to wait long in line (not that I've ever experienced extremely long wait times) I really enjoy TJ's products and the pricing is very affordable. My rule of thumb is to always shop with a list and to know the layout of the store that way your experience is more efficient, because it does become hectic a lot of the time. read more

I frequent this Trader Joe's often because it's so convenient to many subway stations. I have to give this location a huge shoutout because they've taken extra precaution with the cleanliness of the establishment since Covid-19. I like to come right when they open at 9 am to avoid long lines and crowds. They have signs for senior hours from 8:00-9:00 AM, but I was able to stroll right on in at 8:50 AM. Customers now have to pack their own groceries to avoid excess contact with cashiers. They also have protective plexi glass for extra protection. Staff here are always extra friendly, which makes the shopping experience much more pleasant! read more

One of the smaller Trader Joe's, located underground, in the Brooklyn Plaza/food court. Small space, so the store feels very crowded. Felt stressed shopping here, pushed around by overzealous customers and super efficient staff. A lot of noise and movement. I took my time studying items, de-stressing with my grocery shopping, however, all the frenzy made me feel rushed and stressed. Staff members at checkout are super quick. Staff members who were unpacking boxes of frozen foods, made very loud grunting sounds, rushing from isle to isle, creating more chaos. Felt like there was not a second without noise, movement, and hustle. Try to come here during slow hours (morning and weekdays, when not as many customers are rushing to make their purchases). A restroom is available inside the store (but the line is insane, so just go outside Trader Joe's, to a public restroom a few feet away from the store entrance). Some items that are on sale do not check out as sale items, so don't be afraid to ask the cashier for a price check to get your items for the correct price. read more
