AWESOME! This is the best looking Trader Vic's I have been to. Drinks were great and so was the food. If you want to impress your friends and neighbors here, order the Son OF Dr. Funk. This drink comes in a glass surrounded by an ice cone and it will cause heads to turn! The basement location is great-it is so different from the decor in the rest of the hotel. We had an issue wit hthe online reservation-they didn't get it, but fortunately we only had to wait a half hour for a table and we weren't in a hurry. This is the busyist Trader Vics we have been to.

Schezuan Chicken. Unbelievably salty. The way you see it is the way I left it. I couldn't eat it. Awful.

English. Awful, Awful, Awful!!! I cannot stress this enough. Let me go through the evening. We arrived with reservations already made. The hostess seats us at a 2 top rather than a 4 top which would be nice to have the extra space around you. I get they want to conserve larger tables for larger parties but the place was about 20% capacity and it was already 7pm. Also, the hostess was jamming everyone into one section of the dining area. Would have been nice to have some space between your fellow diners and have a little intimacy while you dined. Next is the prices, this place is ridiculously priced for what all intense purposes is basic Chinese food. €6.40 euro for a very small dish of "special fried rice"? There was nothing special about it. The entrees recieved (schezuan chicken/€24.00 and a vegetable dish) were very heavy handed with salt making it inedible. The Mai Tai had a very strong alcohol flavor and they serve coca cola in the small bottle size. Can't understand why there were water glasses on the table but they were never filled. This furniture in the restaurant is old and loose. This place is an embarrassment to Chinese/asian cuisine. Dont say that you have been warned. Go anywhere but this place. The people of Munich deserve much better than this.... Deutsche (from google translate) Schrecklich, schrecklich, schrecklich !!!

The food was the best we've had at a tiki restaurant, and we've been to the Mai Kai in Fort Lauderdale and the Bali Hai in San Diego.

They have indoor and outdoor seating and great service no matter where you sit. The outdoor seating was far enough away from the walking thoroughfare, so that you could enjoy the people watching without having them pass right next to you. The food was very good, much better than I expected. In fact, we liked it so much we went back for a second visit, which was a different meal choice and another very good experience. In total we ordered the white asparagus, the side salad, meatloaf with potato salad, rosemary potatoes and a prosciutto pizza. The meatloaf was really a loaf of Ham style meat. They served it with some mustard and potato salad. Just thinking about it makes my mouth water. The prosciutto pizza was very good with a good amount of cheese. The side salad had just about every color of the rainbow and was very good. A salad like this is such a difficult thing to find when you are traveling, I definitely enjoyed some greens with my meal. I highly recommend this restaurant.

We ordered a pretzel and it was pretty good, nothing special and I order a 0.5 liter Helles. Great beer of course and the server was super nice. Worth coming in for a beer right before heading in for the night at La Meridian next door. A pretty nice hotel.

The apple dessert did not disappoint either - yum ( need to order ahead to give it 25 mins or so ) First rate -don't miss this gem of a restaurant! . Thx you for a wonderful dinner! Enjoy

The soup was refreshing and I really enjoyed it. The bread was good as well. One of the spreads was obazda dip which I love. I thought they made it ok. We started with the veal ravioli. They were tender and tasted pretty good. I had the restaurant special which was basically a chicken pot pie. I thought it was good but I've had better. I thought the chicken was over cooked and the capers inside was a bit off putting to me because there were so many and made the whole dish too sour for me. It was a bit off putting. My friend had the fillet with white asparagus and potatoes and hollandaise sauce. It was basic but I preferred her dish. The dessert had strawberry and tarragon I believe. It was well balanced, not too sweet, and I liked the herbs with the dessert. They also had a nice drink menu and a good variety of wines. They did not let us try the wine before pouring it which I expected since this is a nice place. Overall thought the service was decent but not great.

So I felt that for it's purpose, being an Italian restaurant, in the heart of Munich, during Oktoberfest, L'Osteria was hitting! I saw a line when we first got there which made me nervous because we didn't have any reservations. So I quickly made an online reservation on the spot. It didn't end up being needed because the host sat us where we preferred, at a table just inside the establishment but close enough to the outdoor seating to get a little bit of both worlds. We had a nice view of the Famtain [Hotel] building as well as Karlsplatz Square. So it seemed that a 10 min.+ wait was worth it. We immediately got drinks, specifically the Passionfruit Aperal Spritz which was so good. It's the perfect drink after a long day of walking in the heat. We also ordered a pizza, split with Spicy Pepperoni and Chicken Bacon Ranch. I wonder if we were type-cast as Americans when the Chicken Bacon Ranch part was suggested to us. Don't tell them that I told you it was good! We also had the most delicately sliced Carpaccio with just the right amount of parmesan on top. I loved all of it! So listen, for the bad reviews, I don't know what happened. I think the place is solid. You might have to wait a few minutes to be seated but the turnover should be quick enough for you to get a nice spot. If you're visiting the city it's in a nice central location. Keep your expectations reasonable and you should have a great time!
