Note the hour difference between winter and summer.

We came here recently for a three year old's birthday party. We weren't quite sure where to enter…read moreat first because this community center is shared with the police station....I thought this was kinda bizarre because it's something I've never encountered before. lol. But somehow after a little wandering, we found our group on the second floor in a decent sized room. There was space for three extra long tables for seating, one long table of food, a craft table, dessert table, a pin-the-nose-on-the-donkey style game and gift table. Our host welcomed us to stay during her two hour time slot. An everyone helped to stay and clean up, so we were all cleared out by 30 minutes after the party was over. I will note that this room not only had a large storage closet, but also a full kitchen that was off to the side and could be closed off. Through our entire visit, I don't think I saw anyone from the venue at all. Infact, this place was a no-man's land aside from us. I did appreciate that there was a small lounge area out on the second floor that was the perfect place to slip away when it came time to nurse my baby. Again, no one else was around to be bothered by us.

You can drive through it but there's really no place to park your car nearby to admire it. I can understand the frustration of the people on the road because I can imagine how often people were blocking to road to take pictures. I parked in the neighborhood a few blocks away and walked over. The trail is on my list of ones to ride my bike so I hope to see it from a different vantage point soon.

Also known as Hyde Road Covered Bridge, this is one of the prettiest covered bridges I've ever…read morevisited AND one of the youngest! Built in 2014, it does not span a river, but instead crosses over the Little Miami Scenic Bike Trail going between Xenia and Yellow Springs. It's roughly 85 feet in length. The story behind this bridge is that it was named after local engineer and covered bridge lover Richard P. Eastman. Richard fought to save many of the covered bridges in his county and heavily influenced the building of the bike trail the bridge crosses. According to one article, the trail may not have ever happened if it weren't for the efforts of Eastman. He even has the nickname of The Godfather of the Little Miami Scenic Trail which was part of the "Rails to Trails" movement of turning abandoned railway tracks into recreational trails. The article also stated "He was the only county engineer in the state of Ohio who wanted to do a project like this." While the trail is well loved and appreciated today, it required a passionate fighter to get the project underway and completed. Richard was that man, making the bike trail a huge part of his legacy during his years as engineer. Richard died in 2011 at age 91. I bet this bridge provides an iconic backdrop in the fall season! It is said Richard raised his family not too far from this bridge which makes this a touching memorial. What a great legacy! When visiting please note there aren't many places to park, so be respectful of nearby residence and their property. Be brief and don't park on lawns. There are currently no signs that restrict parking to view the bridge, but I'm sure that would change with abuse and carelessness.

We enjoyed the recent Historical Presentation, organized and set-up by Ms. Nancy! Ms. Nancy set-up beautiful tea cups and plates, and napkins and hot tea and cupcakes, for delicious desserts! Ms. Nancy works very hard and her presentations bring History alive and vibrant to us, all! A Volunteer, Ms. Leslie, did a beautiful job, hard work, detailed research, on The Brave Women Of The Revolutionary War, and The Tea Party, bringing History alive, in an educational and fun manner! Ms. Leslie wore a great looking Woman's Revolutionary Dress/Costume, looking like she had just step out of a Traveling Time Machine! Ms. Leslie brought delicious home made cookies from a old recipe from that time era, of that time during The Revolutionary War time! Thank you so much to Ms. Nancy and to all the library workers there, and to great volunteers, like Ms. Leslie, who does detailed Historical research, and brings History alive to all of us!! Interesting history behind…read morethis bridge, built in 1877, in use until 2003 and now just a walk/drive-up living history lesson. The area around this Greene County treasure, between Yellow Springs and Xenia, is so beautiful, especially in the fall, that it should be on everyone's "must see" list if they're in area, or even worth a special trip!! There's a small parking area, and if you get a good map (google was helpful, surprisingly!!) a wonderful hiking/biking destination as well. Make the time for this one, and its wonderful "cousin" in Yellow Springs, Richard P. Eastman Covered Bridge (review coming soon...)!!

This mound is approximately 40 feet high, encompasses over one acre and is 574 feet in circumference. It majestically sits in the middle of a neighborhood of middle-class houses. The road completely encircles the mound so you can drive to look at it from all sides. If you're into the history of the Native Americans that lived here before we did, it's worth a stop. 5 Stars
