He has been so patient with my whining, so flexible with scheduling, and just so fun to work with that the hour sessions go by so fast. Alas, you have found your trainer! I have been training with Walter for almost a year now and our sessions are seriously the highlight of my weekend! Let me start off with the fact that the first day I worked out with Wally I fainted, couldn't do one push-up and needed to look good for my wedding in 60 days. Unrealistic, I know! I've been working out with Walter for about 2 years now. I have NEVER worked out consistently for more than a few months at a time before this. Walter's got a kind, friendly, easygoing personality yet somehow manages to get you to work out harder than you've ever worked out before. I'm stronger now in my forties than I ever was in my twenties when I was doing marathons and triathlons. He's really accommodating, as my schedule is not always consistent. I'm located in Pasadena, but if I weren't I would travel just to train with Wally. He is just that good. Wally even goes above and beyond just training, he cares about your diet. You can add him on MFP, and he will comment on your calories and help you hit your goal. Wally is not for the faint of heart if you're not dedicated to hitting your goals and just want to say you have a trainer Wally is NOT for you. He has a waiting list of people trying to train with him so do us all a favor and go find a trainer who doesn't want to help you. When I hired Wally my diet was terrible I weighed 190lbs and had 24% body fat. I could not run a mile, do more than one push-up and pull-ups, not a chance. After three months, I not only was able to run a mile, do many push ups and unassisted pull-ups. Well one year later, Wally has me down to 12% body fat, and I care about what I put into my body. read more

First I have to say this review is long overdue. I've been training with Walter for over 4 years now and I can honestly say that he really knows what he is doing. Walter has helped me get into the best shape of my life! I've never been stronger. I used to be like every other guy in the gym. Check out what the guy next to you is doing and try to copy it. After suffering through a few injuries i realized I better get some real help because I didn't really know what I was doing. I was just throwing weights around the gym. Walter helped develop a plan for me. He worked around the injuries I was dealing with at the time. He corrected my form (a lot) and helped keep me motivated. I got into training with Walter quite serendipitously. For a brief time, he was my next-door neighbor before he moved out. First, let me tell you about my background. I'm a late 20's female who has NEVER been athletic and who has always struggled with her weight. I've been a ton of different gyms, have worked with trainers in classroom setting and a couple in 1-on-1 trainings. Walter is in the top 1% of anyone I've ever worked with, particularly because he's been tremendously able to tailor my workout to my needs, interest and personality! For years, I was extremely hesitant deciding if I should work with a personal physical trainer but eventually realized there was much I need to learn and equipment I'm not sure I was using properly. I cannot recommend Walter highly enough. I am a pretty disciplined person, but I could never push myself the way he pushes me. Every time we work out he tells me that I am going to do something that I just *know* I cannot do - and I do it! Walter takes the time to carefully tailor workouts to me in a way that I never could myself. He knows where I am in strength and agility and constantly progresses what we do. It is very clear to me that our workouts are individualized. He knows what exercises I respond to and plans to incorporate things I enjoy in ever-harder ways. He also adjusts on the fly very easily and can go in a different direction if I am getting through an exercise too easily. The variety in what we do also blows me away. There are only a few moves I've done more than once in months of working together. To top all of this off, he is pleasant and encouraging. His calm presence makes hard workouts fly by.
