Her combination of practical financial knowledge and thoughtful understanding of our family's goals allowed us to plot a path forward that we hadn't been able to achieve on our own. We've already passed her name on to a few friends looking for some financial therapy. Can't recommend highly enough.

With each meeting, we made meaningful progress. Michelle helped us see clearly where our spending was going and guided us in creating a realistic, sustainable budget that still allows us to enjoy our lives while saving toward our biggest goal--purchasing our dream home. What once felt far off now feels achievable much sooner than we expected. Perhaps the most valuable part of the experience was the confidence and clarity Michelle helped us build as a couple. Our conversations around finances are now more productive, aligned, and positive than ever before. We're only a week out from our final session, and already feel the impact of the work we did together. I'm excited to look back in 3 months, 6 months, and a year from now and see how far we've come thanks to Michelle's guidance. I can't recommend her highly enough.

I first came for business guidance, being that I was trying…read moreto start my first business venture, a running shoe company, but from the start I seemed to get nothing but bad advice that caused me and my company to lose money, while Teshima & Co. was making money off of my business naïveté. Ken Teshima sold me on paying him to create a business document (a PPM), that cost me $6K. He never finished it, while taking 90% my money, even giving a personal friend of his some of my money, against my wishes, to provide advice on making cowboy boots. I design running shoes, and had a Nike executive willing to be interviewed for free. When I asked Ken why he gave $500 of my money to his friend for useless information, while ignoring the Nike executive, he declared he was "offended" by my question, and therefore refused to discuss the issue. Is that a "thing," if a CPA gets offended, he can continue to bilk his client without answering for himself? My company wound up failing under Ken Teshima's business guidance; he offered to close my company, which I agreed to, only to tell me later that he couldn't do it, because the government put a freeze on my company, and Ken didn't know why, and wasn't interested in doing the work to find out. In 2020, he did my taxes, the most basic tax forms possible, since I no longer had a business to write off, and over-charged me $500 for this. When I asked why it costs that much for what basically was an EZ form, he said that it was because he had to use his "brain power" to do it. It turned out that he failed to do these taxes correctly and I had to pay the IRS, getting penalized and fined for his errors. Ken didn't apologize and took no responsibility for botching my tax returns. I did my own taxes this year, got them right (as opposed to Ken not being able to do my taxes correctly), and I can tell you firsthand, that it took no special "brain power" to do it. In fact, I'd be embarrassed to brag to anyone, I used my special "brain power" to do my taxes. So, yes if you want to get horrible business advice, from someone who doesn't feel bad about bilking you, go see Ken Teshima.

Generally speaking, discussing the topic of personal finances and money is seen as a crass or dirty…read morething. It's just not done. You're more likely to know someone's sexual orientation these days, than how much they have in their bank account. Money is the last taboo. Our culture and media fills us with ugly, confusing un-truths about money, and there's that age-old cliche, "Money is the root of all evil." And yet, we all want Bling. Ironic. With such negative connotations surrounding us, it's no wonder many Americans struggle to understand their finances, and have difficulty creating (and maintaining) wealth. IMHO, it is easy to place the blame on banks and the wealthy for "robbing" the 99%, but true money management means taking fiscal responsibility, discipline, and a good hard look at yourself, with regards to life goals and planning. It is also about not being afraid. With money being a topic that's so sensitive, I'm pleased to advocate the financial planning services provided to me by David Rae, CFP (Certified Financial Planner). Having grown up myself filled with negative, misleading money messages from my thrifty immigrant parents, I knew, after grad school, I needed help dealing with my finances for the long term. Their attitude was always, "We don't have enough!" While that's a truth in their eyes, it wasn't an attitude I wished to adopt. So I made it a point to understand my finances: understanding how I related to money is one thing (how do you save, spend, borrow, and invest?), but managing my own portfolio is quite another. My stint working in dotcoms, with the company 'going public' on IPO, gave me my first taste of stocks...and the headaches in taxes that came with it. Now a business owner living a full life, I simply do not have the time, the foresight, the training, nor the inclination to be my own financial planner. Best to leave it to the professionals. In this case, David Rae has helped neatly steer my finances, weathering crappy economic recession and hard times, and taking full advantage of current market trends and its opportunities. All while understanding my level of risk-taking, and my future plans. David makes it simple and manageable for me to invest in my future (yes, he will continually ask you for money...TO SAVE) -- and thank God for that, because I know I can't do it by myself! Most Americans are living to 90 years of age. Have you got your finances squared away to anticipate your needs until then? If not, you ought to give David a call. His goal is to shield you from mistakes made from irrational exuberance and emotion. That said, once I signed on, I found myself sleeping easier at night. Recently, David showed me he got me 23% return on investment, in 2 1/2 years! I told my tax preparer http://bit.ly/sQVEdu this news, and she gasped in surprise, saying, "Most people are lucky to get 18% on return! You got 23%?? That's amazing!" David Rae is a keeper! Thank you, David Rae!
