I sure as hell was transformed after taking a class here, today for the first time! The space is possibly the loveliest that I've practiced yoga in New Orleans (and Swan River's Mid City Mandir is hard to beat!) You enter through the side of the house that's in front, through all kinds of foliage, up the stairs and into a clean, modern space with high ceilings and exposed beams. Mirrors on one side. Windows above to allow in natural light. It's just enough space to allow for a good amount of people, plus clear sight lines to the front of the room, which is really nice! I took Alexis' Sunday noon class, which of course was as great as usual (for those who haven't taken Alexis' class, it features non traditional, fun pop/dance music and a vigorous flow that can be practiced at all levels). So, I have a new favorite Uptown yoga studio. I plan to go back and check out more classes, as it looks like they have a pretty cool schedule (not to mention special events and teacher training). read more

This place is fantastic! The instructors are sweet and helpful, the class is the perfect combination of challenging and meditative. All and all a wonderful experience. The only down side for me is the location. It just isn't easy for me to get here. Weeknights are tough because I'm fighting traffic, and Saturdays are fine, I only wish they had an earlier class because by the time the Saturday AM class gets out, and I get home and showered the day is half over. That being said, if you live in the general area, or even if you don't transform is lovely and peaceful. Do yourself a favor and go! read more

I move often and in each new City I always try to find an aerial yoga studio and Transform NOLA was 1 of 3 that I tried and it's the only one I've consistently been back to! The aerial yoga class with Deah(who herself is absolutely wonderful) is the perfect mix of stretch, strength and peace. The class is for all levels and there is always enough time to get into a pose or correct a movement. The only complaint I can think to have is that the hammocks are all in a row so at times you get quite close to your neighbor, but if that's the only complaint I can come up with I'd say they're doing pretty good! read more

Mia handles groups up to 8 or 10 people, and smaller classes with ease. I especially like her TRX classes for the large muscle groups workout. The process for signing up is easy, and the classes don't get cancelled without prior notice, as in some studios I've been to. I participated in the YTT 200 weekday with Mia. This program was comprehensive, thoughtful, thought provoking and fun. Mia presents the material in multiple formats throughout the 8 months which allows the student to process and learn in their own way. The reading materials are beautiful, there is much focus on the inner work necessary to be a teacher, and the discussions are often lively. The program is well rounded and graduates are prepared to lead a full1.5 hour asana practice as well as provide meditation guidance. Beautiful space for the Handstand Yoga class I'm taking. My goal is to build strength in my shoulder in a fun way after I injured myself several years ago. So far, the class is exceeding my expectations. The class is challenging, but not impossible and great mods are offered for all skill levels. read more

This was my first ever yoga class and I have been twice. So far everything has been really great! It's a beautiful studio, to begin with, which allows you to free your mind and enter such a calm state with little distraction. I really like Mia's teaching style-- she explains poses in a way that everyone can do. It's small and intimate, yet the atmosphere delights the experience in such a way that you feel like no one else is there. Love it! read more

Transform is a cozy and laid-back studio. The yoga classes are very relaxing and Mia does a great job of explaining every position and making sure you are correctly positioning yourself. The TRX classes are a great workout and Mia is good about creating variations to the routine. The location is great for anyone uptown. read more

My body has definitely been transformed by TRX classes. Mia leads an intense, yet calm and soothing session, to build core strength. She keeps the class size manageable so she can easily help with correct posturing. The location and hours are perfect for my busy schedule. The room is quiet with enough space for each student to move around freely. One wall is mirrored, other classes I've attended in gyms don't have that. The class ends with a very soothing cool down of yoga stretches. Mia has a great start up price for the first few sessions, which is really helpful. My husband and I came to Transform NOLA after purchasing a Groupon. After our first visit we knew that we had found a yoga studio that we wanted to come back to again. We attend Saturday morning classes after we run. The flow and variety of the classes provides the perfect way to end our morning workouts. Mia's style of teaching is calm and serene. I have never experienced Yoga nor Meditation before participating in MIA's Candlelight Meditation and Restorative Yoga last Friday. It was one of the most amazing, natural, human, and spiritual experience I had ever been apart of. I went to yoga classes here for a long time. Mia is so sweet and is a great teacher. The classes are definitely geared toward someone who is not very experienced in yoga. The classes are vinyasa style, and not very intense. I only stopped going because I needed more variety in my yoga routine, but I loved going to Transform! I have been attending TRX classes at New Orleans' Transform Yoga for a couple of years and totally recommend both the classes and our instructor, Mia. For me, this is a program where I can work to the best of my ability, using my own body weight to my advantage, and never feel I am either slacking off nor am at a disadvantage compared to younger and more fit class members.
