I always seek out family run establishments as I have found that they tend to value their customers…read moremore so than the corporate shops. There is an exception to every rule. First visit, front wiper arm needed to be replaced. She said they normally replace the wiper blade. As they were only 3 months old, I declined. She asked 2 more times to replace the wiper blade making me feel pressured. Red flag 1 Car went in for service. The report they provided said air filter status unknown. There are 4 screws that hold the cover in place. The manager told me they only check the air filter if they are quick release fasteners. Basically, if they aren't sure if they can charge you for the filter they won't take the time to unscrew the cover. Red Flag 2. Took car in for oil change and tire rotation. They told me the rear wiper wasn't working. Odd as it was working the day before in the rain. Since I have an extended service warranty, I had them check to see if it was covered. It was only if the motor was bad. They told me that they would have to trouble shoot it and I would be responsible for the cost. Unless it turned out to be the motor. I asked if they checked the fuse. Service writer didn't even look at me nor acknowledged my question. Why should they see if it's the fuse when they play dumb and get paid for trouble shooting. Checked the rear wiper when they brought the car out and it was working just fine. During this same visit I was told the rear links are going bad. Insurance would pay but because the insurance would only pay a certain amount for the links, I would owe more than $100. I asked about aftermarket parts. She said they were more than the dealership. I found them online for what the insurance would pay for. After the prior red flags, I wonder if the links are in need of replacement. 3rd and final Red Flag. I canceled the appointment to have them replaced. Had the trans fluid changed along with the brake fluid not too long ago. Now I'm wondering if they did it? It's sad that Pro-Cat feels they need to do business in this manor. How did they stayed in business 35 years??

BEWARE: Parkertown Car Care…read more I brought my jeep in for an alignment and had gear lube leaking from the front axle. I was quoted $750-$800 for the job including replacing a u-joint as they recommended. After being pushed off each day, I finally got my jeep back a week later "fixed and riding well". I went to pickup and was hit with an $1,100 bill as they replaced the other u-joint as well. I walk out to my jeep and one of my hub caps is missing, Nick claims it somehow was already missing a bolt when I brought it in and it's only secured with two bolts so he left it in the cab (not sure how it would've been attached with one bolt missing when I dropped it off, but whatever it's one bolt) 2 minutes into my drive home, the steering wheel is shaking hard and I thought ok, I have to bring it back to readjust the alignment. I go out to my jeep the next morning and there's gear oil on my driveway leaking from the same spot as when I first dropped it off. At this point, I realize the shop is likely incompetent for this type of repair and I start worrying what other bolts/screws are missing that I can't see. The opposite hub cap has mismatched bolts, and the back hub was tightened too much and cracked. I go back to the shop and offer to pay for the u-joints parts + labor and any parts/oil they used to "fix" my leak but request my money back for the labor that went into a repair that is no better than when I first dropped it off. I no longer trust their competence in opening my jeep back up. Nick tells me the owner is off in the Bahamas and won't check his phone for another week, so I'm out of a car until then unless I'd like him to try and fix it again. Nick is a really nice guy, but I think he bit off more than he could chew with the repair. I wish they would've told me that from the start, or owned up to providing poor workmanship. I'm now out $1,100 and have to pay another shop for all of the same repairs. I'm sure they could handle an oil change, but anything more than that I would not advise bringing your vehicle here.

After reading some reviews and noting the convenient Toms River location of Craig and Lisa's plus ... yes, it matters to some including the family member in distress ... having a woman to talk with a woman made a huge difference and Lisa I was told was AWESOME, PATIENT, and showcased her knowledge. Thankfully there was no need to check the bank statements for this service and there was no use of imaginary terms that some mechanics tend to use. Lisa was clear in explaining the problem, offered more than one solution, and in the end took care of the problem at an extremely reasonable price! In this one small transaction Craig and Lisa gained a regular customer for all auto care!!!
